This document outlines a film idea called "Panophobia" about three friends, focusing on one girl who goes missing. It would begin with a voiceover over montage of the friends, then cut to scenes of photos being burned by the missing girl. Her friends make an online plea for her to return, which she watches, looking angry. The document provides details on characters, themes of friendship and fear, sample scenes and credits, and film influences including Gone Girl and American Honey. It is set in 2016 in Chelmsford and Southend and would feature the three friends as the main cast.
2. Plot
A voiceover is heard over a film montage of three friends on a
day out together, talking about their friendship and specifically
focussing on one of the girls who is revealed to be missing. The
montage is split between the girls and separate shots of
disposable camera photos being burnt by an unknown person –
we have planned to write the credits on each photo, film it being
burnt, then reverse the footage so the photo reverse burns away
to reveal the writing (directed by, produced by etc)
The voiceover then goes to a scene in which it is shown to be
one of the friends filming a plea (which is then put online) for the
missing girl to come home, wherever she is. The unknown
person is then shown watching the video on a phone, before
throwing it aside and the camera panning up to reveal it is in fact
the missing girl. A lighter is shown nearby to clarify she is the one

7. Scenes
• Black screen – voiceover begins, leads into a montage of the three friends
on a day out together (arcade/beach in Southend)
• A photo is taken (on a disposable camera) which leads into a reversed
shot of the same photo being burnt, and it burns backwards to reveal a title
written on the back.
• This repeats to show all the titles, and is accompanied by the voiceover.
• Shot of Erin, which is then shown on a missing poster – this shot zooms
out to show Amber and Isla holding up the poster in Isla’s bedroom, filming
a “come home” plea to upload to social media.
• Pans out of the bedroom to show someone holding a phone and watching
the video. Phone is then dropped to the ground, and camera pans up to
show Erin looking angry. She then holds up a lighter and clicks it on,
before the screen abruptly turns black.
