2. Research Advocates Training (RATs) Program
• The research advocacy training & support program provides the patient
perspective; from the bench to bedside to the community.
• All our research advocates will develop the skills needed to understand of basics
of CRC biology, as well as clinical and diagnostic research in CRC.
• Program highlights include:
• Training and guidance on research topic areas
• Introduction to the research process & system
• Opportunities to participate in discussion groups with experts in basic and
clinical settings
• Hands on guidance and training on how to review grants
• RATS advocates serve on various review panels with organizations like:
• NCI, DOD, FDA, and IRBs

3. Research Advocates Training (RATs) Program
On Nov. 12-13, 2014 various RATs members and Fight CRC
staff visited the NCI-designated Univ. of Kansas Cancer Center

4. Research Advocates Training (RATs) Program
RATs trainees took part in lectures covering genomics, cancer
biology, metastasis, and public health, along with hands-on lab
experiences and tours of an NCI Cancer Center.
