June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

1. Alexandru TASCIUC is a well-known entrepreneur of the northern region of the Republic of
Moldova. He graduated Alecu Russo Balti State University in 2001, Faculty of Economics,
Specialization of Accounting. All knowledge and experience that Mr. Alexandru had achieved at
USB during his study period allowed him to open his own business of producing blinds after only 2
years from his graduation. So, the history of Alexandru’s company ,,DENALEX EXIMGRUP” starts
in 2003- this year is characterized by a great increase of blinds production demand on Moldova’s
internal market. Thus it was the perfect period for opening this kind of business. Of course, it was and
still it is hard to resist on the market, that’s why Mr. Alexandru was aware that he had to concentrate
his efforts on the main tasks and to offer to his customers unique integrated solutions allowing the
reduction of the market value of the finished product. “DENALEX EXIMGRUP” company provides a
full range of services to support the production of blinds:
Sale of components for the production of horizontal, vertical and blinds.
Manufacturing of products of complex shapes and forms on their own production.
Measurements and installation of sun protection systems of any complexity.
A flexible system of discounts and bonuses, which allows its partners to develop and
increase the profitability of their business.
Nowadays Mr. Alexandru is a successful entrepreneur; still he has not forgotten the place
where he has achieved all the necessary knowledge. Therefore, 1/3 out of his 20 employees are
graduates of Alecu Russo Balti State University, and 2/3 are specialist from Balti colleges. Thus, he
plays an important role in ensuring job creation for the best professionals of the northern capital of
Moldova. Moreover, “DENALEX EXIMGRUP” company has a good collaborative relationship with
USB and every year there is a certain number of students that make their internship within this
company. So, they are given the chance to see how to resist and to be successful in such an interesting
field of the economy.
Speaking about the company on Moldova’s internal market, it is worth mentioning the fact that
it is the leader in the supply and production of quality components for sun protection systems. Their
experience allows them to develop and implement new blinds systems, including their own
production, every year. Furthermore, the Alexandru’s company is always open for partnership and
mutually beneficial cooperation (one representative example is of course the close cooperation with
USB).
A last thing to be mentioned is the active participation of ,,DENALEX EXIMGRUP” company
within national and international exhibitions that allows this company to be well-known not only in
Moldova, but also in other countries like Romania, Ukraine etc

problems linked with the ecology and the possible impact on the environment. Thus, Mr. Ciobanu’s
company produces construction products that are not harmful for the environment.
As in the case of other companies, L.L.C DAMIA-NORD puts a particular focus on
cooperation with other companies that are from Moldova or from abroad. So, it has a close
collaboration with the German company ,,KNAUF”. Moreover, L.L.C DAMIA-NORD is the main

The relevant experiences for USB obtained within the EANET project
The Association of Graduate Entrepreneurs of the Alecu Russo Balti State University,
hereinafter referred to as "Association", is a result of the Project Nr. 544521-TEMPUS-1-
2013-1-DE-TEMPUS-SMHES ,,Entrepreneur Alumni NETwork" - EANET
No matter what are yesterday’s students, what are the desires of today's student or
tomorrow's student, networking is the fuel that accelerates success. Not only is it useful for
learning directly from individuals you meet, but the benefits of association and growing your
own authority are just as powerful.
The aim of the Association is to contribute to the development of a social-economic
and cultural-educational environment in the northern part of the Republic of Moldova
through: promoting collaboration between USB and its graduate entrepreneurs; the
professional and social assertion of USB graduates; and publicizing their competences;
raising the prestige of USB by continuously improving the quality of studies and research in
the economic field.
The Highlights are based on a number of different factors, including but not limited to:

Possibility to promote the graduates' own business:

the best students in different companies.
What can we offer to others of what we learn? Lessons Learned.
Mindset. Before you think about networking, remove the word "working" from your
system. The best networking comes from genuine relationships, not a business card
exchange. No matter whom you’re trying to build a relationship with, treating that
person as a friend rather than a business contact will take you much further with the
relationship.
The destination. When you create the Alumni Association, focus on pouring
energy into accomplishing the stated goal. What is your dream job? How do you
envision your future? What do you need to be doing to be the most fulfilled, happy
and driven version of you? Write down what your goal is for five years from now.
Then write down what goal you need to hit immediately, in the near future, over a
year and so you will reach your destination.
Building a human connection. You have to contribute to the real connection when
you speak with someone - whether it’s on Skype or on the phone or in-person.
Discover people and treat them with respect, attention and care.
Look for institutions, people who can consolidate entrepreneurial ecosystems. Do
community tasks. This brings changes into the University, and the association
becomes attractive.

Corina NICHITCIN
One of the benefits of the EANET project for USB
The Association of the Graduates entrepreneurs from the Alecu Russo Balti State University is
the branch of the EANET Project. It is a public, non-governmental, non-profit organization which was
created for supporting, encouraging and development of the entrepreneurial vision of the students and
graduates from Alecu Russo Balti State University.
The main success of the EANET project for USB represents the creation of the Association of the
Graduates entrepreneurs. Our University had not such an association before the implementing of the
project. The association’ activity is oriented towards the stimulation of the student’s entrepreneurial
initiative, creation and strengthening of the partnership relations between the association beneficiaries
(graduates and students entrepreneurs of USB), implication of the specialists from different fields of the
academic environment in consulting the entrepreneurs to meet different difficult situation which the
economic field faces with.
Through the association it is ensured the consolidation of the collaborative relations between the
university and the business environment represented by the graduates of the university. In this way there
are organized such actives as: students’ meetings with USB graduate entrepreneurs within the live library,
career days, students’ visits at companies, roundtables and workshops in order to identify opportunities to
launch a business and promote good entrepreneurship practices. At the same time, the collaboration
relations of the academic environment with the university graduates-entrepreneurs give the possibility to
sign new contracts in order to provide students with places for practice and their future employment at
these companies.
By creating the network of USB graduates-entrepreneurs the association is helping entrepreneurs,
giving them the opportunity to expand their business partner network and sign new collaborative
agreements. Being the part of the EANET international project the association offers the opportunity for
USB graduates-entrepreneurs to be internationally known by connecting them to an international platform
of graduates-entrepreneurs from the partner universities of the EANET project in order to strengthen the
international entrepreneurial ecosystem.
