- Here to learn about the P&L statement – Later we will discuss in detail how it will be accomplished – Several breaks, 7-8 hours – Complete understanding, and how to prepare for a chart meeting – Will be able to use this info to improve the profitability GOAL – next slide
- Read and explain each line – Chart meeting will demonstrate understanding of P&L – Now can be bonused based upon the porfitability of store vs. budget (Gas neutralized) – Will benefit from understanding – Bridge into next slide
- Ask them to turn to the person next to them, and gather info and present their info for each line – Mark down on the Chart paper – Once complete, bridge into profit calculations – next slide

- Explain how this works - GP% is penny profit – What the GP% is, is how many pennies you’ve made for every dollar sold – How do we increase GP%?? – (Increase retails while maintaining or decreasing costs, or maintain retail while decreasing costs) – next slide
- Ask them to follow with the P&L, and add as we go – see if someone knows using previous formula before showing whole slide – next slide
