Othello Tragic Hero Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of Othello as a tragic hero is no simple task. This topic requires a
deep understanding of Shakespearean literature, a keen insight into Othello's character, and an
ability to analyze the intricate elements that contribute to his tragic downfall. It demands a
delicate balance between summarizing key plot points, delving into character motivations, and
exploring the underlying themes of jealousy, manipulation, and racism in the play.
One must navigate through the complex layers of Othello's personality, from his noble and
honorable traits to the vulnerabilities that ultimately lead to his tragic undoing. The essay should
delve into Othello's internal struggles, external influences, and the fatal flaws that contribute to
his downfall. It requires a thorough examination of the cultural and historical context of the play,
as well as a nuanced exploration of the relationships between characters.
Additionally, writing an effective essay on Othello as a tragic hero demands a thoughtful
analysis of Shakespeare's language and dramatic techniques. The intricate use of imagery,
symbolism, and dramatic irony in the play adds another layer of complexity to the writing
process. Properly integrating quotes and passages from the play is crucial to support arguments
and provide evidence for the interpretation of Othello's tragic hero status.
In essence, tackling the Othello tragic hero essay requires a combination of literary analysis skills,
critical thinking, and a deep appreciation for the nuances of Shakespearean drama. It's not merely
summarizing the plot but interpreting the characters and themes in a way that unveils the
profound layers of the play.

Corruption Of Power In Macbeth
Macbeth; The Corruption of Power Throughout the power corrupting play of
Macbeth, I feel as if I have learned that it is important to control my own life.
Throughout the play, Macbeth is controlled greatly by Lady Macbeth and the three
witches. Macbeth s mistakes were all made by his own decisions, but his decisions
were brought up by the witches, and pushed through by Lady Macbeth. I believe this
story is a great way to show others to stand their ground, and to not let others
control them or influence their decisions. I enjoyed the play, but found that the
events were very predictable. After the three witches statements, All hail, Macbeth!
Hail to thee, Thane of Glamis! All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor!
All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter! (1.3.49 51) I found that the witches
give away that Macbeth was going to be the Thane of Glamis, the Thane of
Cawdor, and the king. The impelling action of the story started when Banquo and
Macbeth were addressed by the witches and told their prophecy. Next, the rising
action occurs when Macbeth kills the guards and Duncan at the castle, and
Macbeth is honored as the Thane of Cawdor. Then, Macbeth hires murderers to
murder Fleance and Banquo. I find that the climax happens Macbeth sees Banquo s
ghost at the banquet due to Fleance escaping. The falling action is when Macduff s
family is killed and then he meets with Malcolm. Finally, Macbeth is slain in his
and Macduff s duel. In the resolution, the rightful king comes to throne, Malcolm. A
message I find the author conveying in this play is that you should always be
thankful for what you have. The second message I have found throughout this play,
is that power and greed will make a man do anything, even things never thought to
be possible. Lastly, I find that a common theme that the author used throughout this
play, is that words can be translated in many different ways. I find that the last
theme most commonly happens to Macbeth. Macbeth believes that he can not be
killed by any man born out of a woman. What Macbeth fails to know, is that
Macduff was ripped from his mother s womb by caesarean section. Of Birnam rise,
and our high placed Macbeth shall live the lease of nature, pay
America s Trade Area Of The Americas
History
Latin America is composed of seventeen countries which was colonized by Spain s
and Portugal. They are large in diverse population with four hundred and ninety
million people in total. The percentage of the Indian and African that lives in Latin
America is basically seventy five percent just in the cities. The industrial and
development grew since the 1960 s; also the free Trade Area of the Americas(FTAA)
proposes to integrate economies of Latin America, North America and the Caribbean
(except Cuba). Prisons for quite a long time have been a gateway to try to save
society. However, the only thing that it s doing is hurting the social order. This
happens because it creates more problems that are not being treated from the
beginning. Crime has become a big problem during these hard times with the poor
economy, but it has especially affected Latin America very deeply because of all the
problems that overcrowded prisons have brought forward. In Latin America Brazil
and Mexico are the two largest and strongest countries that have been affected with
having the highest percentage of crimes, inmates in prisons, and concerns with
overcrowded prisons. And these increase with the high crime rates in Latin America
that are rising due to drug trafficking wars in Brazil and Mexico. Brazil and
Argentina are again the two of Latin America s strongest and largest countries
because they make up most of the common market where other nations come to trade,
buy goods and buy cash

Influential Americans in Politics
In the United States history, many of our presidents excelled in making this country a
better place. Although they may be the head of this nation, they were not always the
ones who made major impacts. Governors, senators, abolitionists and congressman all
helped change this country and make it what it is today. Past senators Huey Long,
Salmon Chase, and William Seward in particular helped change this great nation for
the good. They all somewhat had the same view politically and had similar goals.
All three of these men were very much for equal rights for all people. Huey Long
was no exception to this. Long truly believed ... Show more content on

Long rebutted that the Share Our Wealth program was meant to help all poor people;
these people included African American and other backgrounds a radical addition for
an extremely segregated society.
Long accused that the nation s economic downfall was the result of the massive
difference between the super rich and everyone else. In Long s opinion, this
abundance of money among only the minority of people (wealthy bankers,
entrepreneurs and businessmen) limited its availability for average citizens these
citizens were the people working in harsh conditions for minimal pay. [2]
Huey Long executed extraordinary programs of reconstruction and improvement in
Louisiana building roads and bridges, providing free public education and expanding
voting rights to all citizens. The underprivileged citizens observed Long as a hero of
the common man. The wealthy saw Long as threat and ridiculed him in the media as
a demagogue and tyrant. [3]
Huey Long never received credit for the government reforms that resulted from his
Share Our Wealth movement. [4] Although he persisted in trying to end the failing
economy, The Great Depression continued for six years after Long s death. Many
of today s federal programs include ideas brought to light by Long. These include
social security, veterans benefits, financial aid for colleges and schooling, labor
rights, minimum wage and 40 hour work week standards, Medicare and Medicaid,

Playing Guitar Research Paper
It may sound complicated, but with a little time and effort, playing guitar is actually
a lot simpler than it sounds. Playing guitar, like many other instruments, has many
different components. You need to be familiar with a guitar and its parts, and know
how to properly hold it before playing. You also need to know how to really get a
good sound out. To build off of your guitarskills, you first need to know chord shapes,
strumming and picking patterns.
Before you can really start to play guitar, you have to be familiar with the parts.
There is two main parts of a guitar. The body and the neck. The body is the hollow
base of the guitar with an opening for the sound to echo in. This is where the
strings are played. The neck is an extension from the body, where the strings extend
over the frets. This is where the chords are played. The frets of the guitar are the
raised lines along the neck of the guitar. These are used to ... Show more content on

First you need to hold the guitar against your body with the neck facing left, the body
near your abdomen, and the strings facing forward. For most people, the left hand
controls the chords on the neck of the guitar, and the right hand controls the playing
of the strings. The left hand and arm should go under the neck of the guitar so you
can reach all of the strings with the left hand. The right hang should rest on the top
of the body of the guitar with the wrist and hand loosely above the opening of the
body. You should hold your hand and wrist somewhat loose to make strumming
easier. On your left hand, your first four fingers should be curled to the front of the
neck of the guitar and your thumb should stay on the back of the neck. When playing
a string, you want to use the tip of your finger to push down on the string, on the fret
you want to play. You want to make sure that your fingers do not touch any other
strings than the ones you are trying to

Compare And Contrast Grendel And Beowulf
In order to live a happy life you should always treat others the way you would want
to be treated. The effectiveness and satisfaction of your life will be enhanced if you
recognize there are two sides to everything, and understand that there is more to
someone or something that meets the eye. In John Gardner s Grendel, he presents
Grendel as a truly unique character, who doesn t clearly understand the meaning of
lifeand is continuously bullied over the way he looks and acts. Through John
Gardner s establishment of humanlike qualities in Grendel s character, he presents a
clear example of how there are really two sides to every story and life is a gift.
The basis that John Gardner forms his writing of Grendel on is that he feels as if
Grendel was wrongly portrayed in the writings of Beowulf. In Beowulf the reader
sees Grendel as a horrendous monster in whom kills innocent people for a cause
greater than him. However, in Gardner s version of Grendel, when writing to Susie
West and her students he, states that he wrote Grendel as a careful philosopher, and
that he considered all of the factors that followed his opinion of Grendel:
It s true... that a good writer is indeed a careful philosopher; but his method is not to
argue...but rather explore, with all care...the various implications...that must be
considered when any serious philosophical question is raised...if he s a true artist,he
doesn t ram it down the reader s throat:...he explores every avenue of the
Suffering with Battered Woman Syndrome
Nearly one in four women in the United States reports experiencing violence by a
current or former spouse or boyfriend at some point in her life (Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention 2008). As stated in the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, These are our sisters, mothers, friends, family members, neighbors, and
co workers .Should women that suffer from battered woman s syndrome be charged
with murder for killing there abuser? The term battered woman syndrome was
introduced in the late 1970s by psychologist Lenore Walker to explain the
psychological problems of women who are caught in a cycle of domestic violence
(ProQuest Staff). The mind of a typical domestically abused women has been
diagnosed, monitored, and studied by professionals numerous of times. However,
one may believe battered women syndrome should be used as an excuse in court,
with prior evidence for self defense and mental illness if the women being abused had
suffered domestic violence tragically.
One may feel as if women sometimes use battered women syndrome as an excuse
for murder, most of the time they do not exactly understand the pain of, being
beaten, forced into sex, and choking these women have been through. Ones opinion
may be that women should be able to use this syndrome as self defense mechanism.
For instance, the Barbara Sheehan case. Sheehan was sentenced for six years
shooting her husband in fear for her life, she exclaimed in Dr. Lenore E. Walker s

Why Knights Were Respected In The Middle Ages
Did you know knights were one of the most important parts of the middle ages?
And do you know if they really followed all the rules and if they were
acknowledged in the medieval age? Well, this essay will inform us everything we
need to know about why Knights were respected in The Dark Ages, and that they
respected all the rules. Now starting off, a knightis a mounted soldier, the word
mounted in the medieval age was to ride on something like a horse and that s why
we see most of the knights on horses. All knights followed the code of chivalry,
knights served their lord, and knights were respected by all. This essay will argue
about whether if knights were respected in the medieval age. And this essay will

A knight s job was to defend women and children and anyone in a difficult situation
or trouble. If a knight protected no one in distress, he would not deserve to be a
knight. Now let s talk about the Knight In Shining Armor , which means a person
who comes to a women s aid. The code of chivalry represented how a knight should
act and behave. A knight was said to remain a knight by his father. If the father is a
knight then most probably the son will also be a knight. Whenever a knight is at
war or at any conflict, he will have to save the people first and then engage into
fighting. A knight is always supposed to fulfill his duty. Even though the lead
crucial role of the knight was to serve and protect his lord, he would also need to

Stereotypes About Feminism
For my experiential learning I went to a forum about feminism. At the forum, a group
of students and faculty spoke about feminism and what feminism is in their lives. The
beginning of the forum started with the speakers talking about what feminism is.
There are a lot of misconceptions and stereotypes about feminism. The main
stereotype that was brought to attention was what a feminist looks like. Feminist
are typically thought of as women that dress in androgynous clothing, don t shave,
and have brightly colored hair. This is not a true representation of what a feminist
looks like. In actuality there is not a true representation of what a feminist looks
like, because anyone can be a feminist. A feminist is a person who believes in
equality for men and women in all areas of life, anyone who agrees with that
statement is a feminist. After explaining what a feminist looks like the speakers at
our forum allowed us to share our stories. I shared my story about how feminism

Social roles are a set of rules and structures that people in society fall under. Many
social roles for women hinder them from achieving goals outside of their social
roles. Examples of these are the fact that women must get married and bear
children while men go out and work. Ideologies like this prevent women from
going out and pursuing their dreams. These roles affect men too. Because traits
like compassion and emotion are considered as women traits, men are left unable
to express themselves and their emotions in a healthy manner. This can lead to a
long life of not being able to express themselves and becoming abusive because of
it. Breaking social roles are a large part of feminism because social roles do not
promote equality. The speakers at the forum mentioned that we should all personally
try to ignore social roles and treat all humans

The Need For Total Elimination Is Unjustified
Paul Churchland argues for the total elimination as opposed to smooth reduction of
folk psychology with materialistic sciences to replace it in Eliminative Materialism
and The Propositional Attitudes, on grounds that folk psychology is a theory that is
primarily flawed due to a severe lack of explanatory power. Additionally has a bad
historical trend of retreat and lack of progress, and does not fit well with prominent
physical sciences. I will explain his argument in this paper, evaluate it for its
importance and show that his conclusion of the need for total elimination is
unjustifiable because he has a major misunderstanding of folk psychology.
Churchland defines folk psychology as our tacit command of an integrated body of
lore concerning the law like relations holding among external circumstances, internal
states, and overt behavior (Churchland). He starts off with the variety of roadblocks
that materialism has overcome over the years while opposing folk psychology such
as qualia and raw feels , leading to the current day barrier of intentionality and
propositional attitudes which will be the focus of his arguments. In order to reveal
how folk psychology and its claims of intentionality are unnecessary and needs to be
eliminated, Churchland first stressed the point that folk psychology is actually a
theory, therefore it is open to theoretical failures. In order to do this, he looks at the
explanatory power of folk psychology. In order to explain the behavior of
The Hiding Place Book Report
The Hiding Place by Orna Jagur
The Hiding Place is about Corrie ten Boom, her family, and how they helped the
Jews in Holland when Germany invaded Holland in World War II.
The main characters are Corrie, her older sisters Betsie and Nollie, her older brother
Willem, and their father, Casper ten Boom, commonly referred to as Opa.
The book starts out in January of 1937, in Haarlem, Holland.
When Germany invaded Holland during the beginning of World War II, the Jews
were the German soldiers and Adolf Hitler s main targets. Jews were required to
wear a yellow star on their shirt, and if they walked around town during the day, they
risked being taken into captivity by the German soldiers. This, among other racism

So Corrie would take the ration cards that were hidden and give them to Jews. After a
year or so, Corrie and her family ran out of places to send Jews for hiding, so they
were forced to keep 7 Jews in their own house.
A fellow member of the Dutch Underground warned the ten Boom family that if
their house was ever to be searched by soldiers and they had Jews in their house,
they d be in trouble. For families living in the country this wasn t much of a
problem, but the ten Boom house (the Beje), was located on the main street of the
city and around the corner from the German headquarters! Since the Beje also
served as a pretty famous watch store, this could also be a problem because
random people could come in during open store hours. To fix this problem, a man
offered to build a secret room located somewhere in the Beje. This room is where
the Jews would hide if the Beje had been broken in and searched through by the
Germans. The man had built the secret room into the back of Corrie s personal
bedroom. When he was done, it was completely unnoticeable to the naked eye that
there was a hidden room behind her bedroom wall. For months, the 7 Jews (Eusie,
Jop, Henk, Leendert, Meta, Thea, and Mary) just slept in it.
On February 28th, 1944, the Secret room got its first and only time to actually hide
the 7 Jews in the ten Boom household. It seemed, somehow,

The justice system exists to uphold the rule of law, to provide equal protection for
citizens, a place to resolve disputes and to enforce laws. The courts have three
classifications, criminal and civil, inferior and superior, courts of first instance and
appellate courts. These classifications overlap when differentiating courts.
The phrase courts of first instance refers to the courts where legal proceedings are
first heard. For example, Magistrate Courts, County Courts, The Crown Courts and
the High Courts. Different types of cases will be heard in different courts. For
example all criminal proceedings will be first heard in the Magistrate Courts but if
the case is more serious it will be sent to the Crown Court. (OU, 2017c, 7.1). The
Magistrate Courts may also deal with certain civil proceedings such as granting

The Evolution Of Penicillin
Much has changed since the discovery of penicillin in the mid 1900 s. Scientists of
today have a better understanding of antibiotics in general than those of Fleming s
time. Additionally, there have been seven other major antibiotics introduced since the
discovery of penicillin in 1928. Despite these advances, we are currently facing a
critical issue with all antibiotics they are losing their effectiveness. This is due to the
evolution of bacteriato become resistant to antibiotics. Consequently, there has been
an increasing prevalence in the number of superbugs recently. A superbug is simply a
strain of bacteria that has become resistant to antibiotics. This is not to say that these
superbugs are resistant to all types of antibiotics, but

a) Wet process: In the wet process mixture of cement and aggregate premixed with
water and the pump pushes the mixture through the hose and nozzle. Compressed air

b) Dry process: In dry mix process, compressed air propels premixed mortar and

Surface preparation before shotcreting involves a thorough cleaning and removing
all loose aggregate and roughening the existing concreting surface for improved

The shotcrete surface can be lift as sprayed which is somewhat rough. If a smoother
surface is required, a thin layer can be sprayed on the hardened shotcrete and then

Collaborative Learning
Essay question 3: Collaborative Learning
Introduction
In the Book Review of Collaborative Learning, Stoerger said emphasis on
collaborative learning is pushing educational community to a new forms (2008).
Collaborative learning involves groups of people to work, such as completing a
project or producing a product. All team members work sequentially to the project
and towards to the same goal. It is quite difference with cooperative learning, which
members work concurrently on the project and focus their personal objective
(Dillenbourg, 1999). For a university student, it is vital to learn collaborative learning,
which can benefits for their current studying and for their futures career path. It also
exists challenges for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For students, when they start to learn collaborative working, there will have conflicts
between members. Due to difference personality, members should learn to listen
each other, even though there have disagreement. Listen first and member can speak
out personal opinions, which can show respect to each other and more confidence.
Moreover, in a team, each member should value other s abilities and knowledge. For
example, if there is one member fails to trust others ability to gain a higher mark, it
will increase team conflicts between members. Under collaborative learning process,
all members should contribute their talents to the team in order to improve the
overall performance (Thirteen Ed Online, 2004). Therefore, in order to ensure all
team members can work together and accordance, it needs them to make joint effort
to contribute their skills to the team and accomplish the object in an effective manner.
Collaborative learning is a great tool for instructors to motivate their student to
work with their peers. It is a challenge for teachers to guide their students to work
as a team and allocate them into one group. To form a group is an unnatural
process, instructors need to rely on the detail of assignment, the nature of the task,
students personality and their abilities to form a group. If a teacher fails to examine
necessary factors before forming a group, it will experience a conflict or unbalance
team and directly affect the work performance (Barkley, et al,
Comparing The Odyssey And The Cruelest Journey
You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be
necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can
rise from, how you can still come out of it. Maya Angelou. Maya Angelou wrote
many poems about perseverance as Homer and Salak did in the Odyssey and The

Salak was on a long journey down a 600 mile river the Niger, upon arrival to

For example in The Odyssey Homer expresses the harshness of the winds and the
scenery in general by using diction and imagery. Humbly those wolves and lions
with mighty paws fawned on our men who met their yellow eyes and feared them.
(page 386). In this context you can clearly extract that the author is describing the
wolves and lions to be scary and feared by the men. Even if not that, the sentence
has a negative connotation because of the words mighty , yellow eyes , and feared
.With this, even though they are facing these animals they must stay strong and
keep going. Salak also uses imagery to describe the traumatic experience through
the storm. Lightning pierces trees, slices across houses. Thunder racks the skies
and pounds the earth like a mortar fire... (page 421). She uses this diction to
describe the storm and all the damage it s causing. The words being use help you

Middle School Students Allowance
Many students often feel bad about begging their parents for money. Guilt is an
emotion that is difficult to overcome. Middle school students should have an
allowance because chores will be completed, parents will save, and kids can save
their money. Students should have allowance because parents can charge students
per chore they do. Most parents can have students work and clean for money. It ll
teach students to do things on their own. After chores are done students can later on
relax and do anything else they need to do . Therefore chores will be a light task for
students and parents. Having money for students will save parents money. When
parents give their own children allowance, the children will have money of their own
to buy things.

daily lives. There is beauty that surrounds us like the majestic Rocky Mountains,
the crisp blue skies, birds sweetly singing in the early morning, or even the simple
sound of someone s loving voice. People are born with the ability to see and hear
the everyday activities going on around them but for some less fortunate, these
abilities are not a characteristic they possess. Living as a deaf or blind person in
today s society certainly would have its challenges but can you imagine the
obstacles and battles for someone who was deaf, dumb and blind living life over
one hundred years ago? One incredible woman was faced with such a challenge and
she accomplished more in her lifetime than most women did with out any handicap
and her name is Helen Keller. Helen Keller is a celebrated woman in American
history who accomplished countless achievements and paved the way for the deaf
and blind community by inspiring millions and showing how to prove yourself when
the odds are stacked against you.
Before the age of two, Helen was diagnosed with a disease that took away her
ability to see and hear. Her disease was rare and hard to understand and her doctor
referred to it as brain fever but may have been scarlet fever or meningitis. As a young
girl, she had minimal ways to communicate. Often, she would express herself through
throwing tantrums or by laughing uncontrollably. Helen states in her book The
Ethics And Code Of Ethics
Ethics are concerned with how human been ought to act given a certain set of
condition. The ethics govern an individual while making decisions especially when
multiple choices are represented. Business, for instance, has set of principles which
act as a guide on how the employees ought to conduct themselves while executing
their duty .The set of rules and principles refer to the code of ethics. The code of
ethics gives a guide on the professionals expected conduct while working for a given
organization. They guide both employees and management while making critical
decisions. The code of ethics ensures that individuals strive to achieve set business
objectives and goals without leaking production and business tips .By doing so

Furthermore, ethics and code of ethics act as a moral standard check. This due to
the fact that ethics and code of ethics define clearly, the difference between the right
and wrong. Having defined what right and wrong, it provides an individual chance to
choose. Thus acting to check individual s morals, where individuals can compare the
behaviors against the set morals. Values. Additionally, the ethics theory models act as
a guide for consideration when making a critical decision. They provide alternatives
given a set of choices.
Moreover, there are set of statement theories that govern individual conduct: they
include; the education Commitments to Ethics Promotion, the statements outline
ethical standards and also promote those standards within the profession, especially
information on the application and enforcement of those standards; additionally, the
philosophical statements, those statements give details on what a given profession is
all about. The professional goals statements: concerned with what the profession

Similarities Between Oryx And Crake
For years, post modern writers have foreshadowed what the end of the world
would look like through dramatic representations in literary works. Cormac
McCarthy s The Road and Margaret Atwood s novel, Oryx Crake, are no exception
to this. Delving into the complexities that underlie man s existence on Earth, these
authors use their novels as vehicles to depict a post apocalyptic world, in which all
that once was is reduced to an inconceivable wasteland, both figuratively and
literally. From the beginning, McCarthy establishes a stage for his readers with a
beautifully worded yet painstakingly morose description of the wasteland in which
his characters occupy: Nights dark beyond darkness and the days more gray each one
than what had gone... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like McCarthy, Atwood also employs similar techniques, as she quickly
establishes the setting for her own work of speculative fiction with a set of stark
images: On the eastern horizon there s a grayish haze, lit now with a rosy, deadly
glow (Atwood 3). With her visual cues, however, Atwood takes it one step further.
Hinging upon readers pre existing knowledge of current world predicaments,
Atwood is able to make connections that dredge up feelings of angst and even fear.
For example, on page 63, Atwood writes of an instance, which many might
compare to the fears of many revolving around the perils of global warning: These
were the things his mother rambled on about sometimes, about how everything
was being ruined and would never be the same again, like the beach house her
family had owned when she was little, the one that got washed away with the rest
of the beaches and quite a few of the eastern coastal cities when the sea level rose
so quickly, and then there was that huge tidal wave, from Canary Islands volcano
(Atwood 63). Atwood also takes reality and distorts it completely in order to get the
point of her writing across. On page 173, Atwood describes conditions, which would
be deemed unusual by any stretch of the imagination: Jimmy and Crake graduated
from HelthWyzer High on a warm humid day in early February...Even early
February was pushing it: they d ducked a twister by only one day. Extending from

Recognition Of Women In History Essay
Women In History Deserve More Recognition For All That Woman Did
Women in history made a large impact on everyone s lives today, even though most
of them did not get the credit woman deserve. Many times a woman has taken on
large leadership roles and are not given the amount of recognition that men in their
position do. For example, they could be a great Queen, and/or help end a war or
fight but not get any credit while men in their position are showered with recognition.
In history, many women are overlooked for all the hard work they put into helping
out the world, especially in leadership roles.
There are many women who made an impact on government and shaped it to be the
way it is today. GRIFFITHS Martha W. Griffiths served in The House... Show more

The Gap Between Blacks and Whites Test Scores
The Gap Between Blacks and Whites Test Scores
The gap as referred to in the title, is the distribution of the scores on achievement
tests that differ between black and white students in the United States. The
purpose of this study was to record the degree of the gap in achievement scores,
decide how much of the racial gap is due to social class, how the gap differed in the
30 year period, and how that which is credited to the social class has changed over
the years. Differences in social class, family structure, and discrimination against
blacks as a disgraced group are all proposed causes for the black white gap in test
scores. If the gap is caused by a difference in social class or family structure, then
when the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Answer: The authors compared the degree of the gaps before and after they
adjusted for social class. 3. How have the gaps changed over time? Answer: The
authors calculated the gaps from data in cross sections over a 30 year period and
studied the trend over time. 4. Is the portion of each gap that is independent of social
class changing over time? Answer: Yes, the authors contrasted the rate of changeover
time in the social class adjusted gaps. These surveys give convincing evidence that
the gaps have decreased over time, but are still widely spread. The authors
conclude that it would take over 50 years to close the gap in reading achievement
scores and over a century to close the gap in mathematics and science achievement
scores. The adjusted gaps for social class, family structure, and community
variables were closing from 1965 1992. At this rate of change over the entire
period, they would close in the same amount of time as the unadjusted gaps. The
rate of change for the unadjusted gaps seem to have reversed after 1972. These
results do not give a lot of support to the theory that the gaps in average test scores
are caused by the differences in social class and family structure. Thus, it supports the
theory that the gaps in test scores are an outcome of other factors, such as
discrimination.
Our Retreat Brought Renewal and Hope for Better Days
Ahead...
Nine teenage girls and their leaders crammed on outdated bench seats as the smell
of various sack dinners and chocolate filled the borrowed short bus. Vinyl seats
cracking, teenage girls laughing and the makeshift radio blasting we followed
behind the boys in their SUV to Woodland Park. The brisk March wind rattled the
old windows of our little white and blue, borrowed bus. Miles of twisting roads and
pinetrees that seemed to pierce the low floating clouds lead us to our retreat house.
Gravel crunched beneath our tires, hitting the sides of our bus, creating a rumble
under our feet as we pulled up the drive.
Great gray boulders outlined planters along the front of the patio and knotted wood
planking covered every side of the house. Two... Show more content on

Afterwards, solemn hearts slowly trudged along the staircases to our respective rooms.
Moods lightened as the girls soaked their feet in the master bath tub before lights

across the bathroom to each other using hair ties. Secrets and random thoughts were
whispered under the glow of flashlights until we could no longer keep our eyes open
after lights out. A comfortable silence fell over the house as we all finally drifted off.
Groggy faces slowly made appearances as the heavenly aroma of bacon and waffles
coaxed us from our dreams before the sun had even crested the mountain ridges, the
following morning. Dream catchers of various sizes fluttered in the pine scented
wind on the deck after breakfast. Teams ran through the trees on a scavenger hunt,
breaking the silence as sunlight streamed through the pine needles. In the afternoon,
colorful rays of light poured through the stained glass window as small groups
bonded over boxes of tissues and shared memories of our middle school youth group.
Another intense round of sardines had us piling into hidden cabinets and coat
closets. Playful banter between the more egocentric members of our teams kept the
games interesting as we all tried to beat each other in games of tag and never have I

Three Rules Of Constraint Management And Supply

2.4 CONSTRAINT MANAGEMENT AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
What is Constraint Management? Constraint management is a tool that supervisors
and other management personnel use to help employees sustain task focus.
According to Goal Systems International, a Washington based business consulting
firm, constraint managementtry to help employees and supervisors remain locked in
on the most important element of business success: system constraints. These
constraints, or basic conditions to accomplishment a goal, differ by business and can
include meeting manufacturing output quotas, completing products in a well timed
manner or obtaining particular customer satisfaction scores on product surveys.
Constraint management believes that losing focus on these key essentials can facing
disaster for a workforce and the business as a whole. The constraint management
model recognizes performance standards for employees and try to improve
operational efficiency. A business is using constraint management requires structured
schedules for assembling raw materials, creating products and distributing products to
consumers. Performed properly, this model of management can significantly improve

Araby tone
Araby, a short story from James Joyce s Dubliners, recounts an unnamed boy s
transition from childhood into adulthood, from a life filled with fantasy to all the
harsh realities of life in Ireland under British rule. The narrator of the story is the
older version of the protagonist, and as a result the prose seems far from what a
child would write a preadolescent would not display such self awareness and
understanding. Further examination of the text shows that the narrator is actually
embarrassed and chagrined by the confused adoration towards his friend s older sister
that marked his childhood, creating a reflective yet fatuous tone that is developed
through the utilization of literary devices such as dramatic diction, simile,... Show

For example, behind the boy s house is a wild garden [that] contained a central apple
tree, a clear allusion to the Garden of Eden. However, the image is distorted by a
rusty bicycle pump that the boy finds. He later sarcastically describes Mrs. Mercer
s collecting used stamps as having some pious purpose and notices two men [...]
counting money on a salver, an action that would not be permitted in a church as it
would be viewed as crass and unholy. Ironically, the boy himself is guilty of twisting
his religion to suit his own purposes. He believes that his love for Mangan s sister is
pure and holy, as shown by his attempt to deify her in his description of her as
being not only defined by light, but also touched discreetly by the lamplight at the
curved neck, which is reminiscent of the Virgin Mary in Christian iconography.
The religious imagery in Araby effectively showcases the narrator s aversion to
apotheosis and the practice of placing a person on such a pedestal. By presenting
the information in such a way, the narrator once again conveys the fatuous tone by
appearing regretful of what he believes to be his perversion of religion as a child
and by portraying his actions as foolish and unreasonable. This is accomplished by
contrasting the perversion of religion surrounding the protagonist with his deification
of the object of his adulation. Because the narrator of Araby is more mature and wiser

The Theme Of God In Design, By Robert Frost
The subject of Robert Frost s Design is simply about life and death, but the theme
here is touching upon the question of God s role in the design of nature and the
world around us. The poem is more on the dark side from the way he describes the
main characters the white spider, the heal all flower, and the moth and the way he
starts to questionwhy everything went the way it did. Was it just a random
occurrence or does God actually make terrible things, like the spider killing the moth
on a flower, happen? To begin with, the speaker starts off the poem by introducing
the main characters. There is a spider, described as whiteand fat, then there is the
heal all which is basically a flower that is used for medicinal purposes. And last but
not least, the moth, who which flutters his way into his death. The big white spider
is perched up on the white flower, holding the moth as if they purposely all
gathered together for a witches brew. With this observation, the speaker constructs
a series of questions: why is the flower, that is usually blue, now white? Why did
the spider decide on that specific flower instead of any other one? And why did the
moth happen to fly by at that certain moment? In the last line, Frost asks the question
of if this how God designed the world to be. The speaker is Robert Frost himself,
just a bystander in the distance that so happens to stumble upon this scene and
observes it enough to write about it. The poem reveals what he now thinks

Sarasota Real Estate Analysis
While most qualified homebuyers with a ready down payment and good credit
history are more than welcome by any Sarasota real estate agent, a real estate
investor is seen as a pain. In fact, most Sarasota real estate agents consider real estate
investors a complete headache when it comes to purchasing any property.
There are two main reasons for this...
First of all, like any businessperson, a real estate agent likes making a quick and
hassle free profit. Secondly, many real estate agents do not have the experience,
expertise, or willingness to handle the creative deals that real estate investors need.
Nevertheless, real estate investors have no choice but to use an agent because that is

3. Offer the offer yourself. Sometimes real estate investors can come up with very
creative offers. Try persuading the real estate agent to allow you to present the
offer directly to the seller (with the agent present of course). You want the seller to
hear the offer directly from you, as no one else can match your precision and
passion in presenting the offer. It will also allow the seller to address any questions
directly to you, instead of going through the real estate agent as a middleman.
As a real estate investor you may come across many uncooperative real estate agents.
A number of Sarasota real estate agents would prefer not to work with real estate
investors because it requires more work than simply writing up a contract and
handing over the keys. Don t get discouraged though...there are also many Sarasota
real estate agents who enjoy working with real estate investors...especially those that
follow the tips above.

What is Turnitin?
Turnitin is the software that AA Hamilton College uses to calculate the similarity of
your assignment to any other document submitted in the same system all over the
world.
What happens when you submit an assignment on Turnitin?
You submit your assignment on Turnitin by submitting it on Livecampus on the
assignment submission link. Your assignment is then compared with all of the
assignments for all the different units submitted on Livecampus as well as
assignments submitted by other students in other colleges and books and documents
all over the world. The report generated is not the final report. The final report will
only be generated after the final deadline which would mean that once the submission
link closes and once every student submitted assignments at AA Hamilton for the
specific unit, only then the final report will be generated. This means that if you
have shared your assignment with anybody and they have submitted part of it or the
full assignment the initial report your friend got would ve indicated the similarity,
but your report would ve remained unchanged. This is because the report is refreshed
every time that you upload your assignment and then finally after the deadline. After
the deadline their plagiarism will be high as well as your own.

My Design Of Sighting A Gun
I.The purpose for my design is to speed up the process of sighting a gun in, the
scope to take into compensate the parabolic launch of a bullet, and to hit to target
bulls eye. Sighting in a gun requires a long trial and error process that any hunter,
marine, or police sniper would agree upon. As a bullet is fired from a rifle it rises a
few inches for about one hundred yards or more where it descends below the axis
of the barrel. The scope looks like any other scope but will account for the parabolic
launch and relocate its self to the correct position for the most accurate shot. Nikon is
a company that produces quality scopes and would be a good contestant for the idea.
They support their products being brighter, clearer, precise, and rugged, but these are
just a few of the attributes knowledgeable hunters commonly use to describe Nikon
riflescopes. Nikon is determined to bring hunters, shooters, and sportsmen a wide
selection of the best huntingoptics money can buy while at the same time pushing
the envelope to create revolutionary capabilities for the serious hunter (Nikon). The
design would also need an electrical engineer to design the wiring and microchips
/sensors, but a mechanical engineer from Power Electrics would also be needed to fit
the motor for the positioning of the scope. I would like to arrange a meeting for all of
us to discuss and perfect the idea. II.The scope, Buck Slayer by Slade Mills and

Summary Of Terwilliger Bunts One By Annie Dillard
In Terwilliger Bunts One, Annie Dillard recalls childhood memories to describe her
mother s eccentricity. Early in the narrative, Dillard recounts her mother s love for
language. She illustrates scenes where her mother ingeniously creates scenarios for
her daughters along with unsuspecting strangers. Dillard also recounts occasions
when her mother uses creative, quick witted gags or questions to both teach her
daughters to stay on their toes and catch other people off guard. Throughout the story,
Dillard reflects on her mother s tendency to engage people using her unique
witticisms, questions, and personality. Throughout the piece, Dillard depicts her
mother s quirky nature and intellectual energy by incorporating imagery, word choice,
and dialogue.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

repeated tremulously, That... is a royal Poinciana I don t remember the tree; I
remember the thrill in her voice (p.353). In this passage, Dillard depicts that her
mother does not simply voice the words; instead, Dillard describes that her mother
s voice trembles as she conveys the beauty of the words and her reverence for
them.(MS4) Furthermore, later in the narrative Dillard recalls that her parents visit
to the beach. Her mother spontaneously starts rolling, outstretched toward the
shoreline. Dillard writes, She rolled deadpan and apparently effortlessly, arms and
legs extended and tidy, down the beach to the distant water s edge. (p.355). This
passage depicts an image of Dillard s mother lying out stretched, resembling a log,
and rolling in front of a crowd of unsuspecting individuals; this image puts more

2016 Outlook For Automotive M A
The 2016 Outlook for Automotive M A
The easy money policy of the Federal Reserve and the cash swollen balance sheets
of corporations and private equity firms alike contributed to an explosion of deal
making in 2015. Long term growth in vehicle production and the positive outlook
for vehicle sales over the next five years have made automotive one of the leading
sectors for M A. We expect deal activity in the automotive sector to remain strong
during 2016, but to taper off from 2015 levels. The biggest factor that will suppress
deal activity this year is the impending interest rate increase by the Federal Reserve.
Other deal squelching factors include geopolitical instability (e.g., in the Middle East
and Russia) and the relative scarcity of companies that can be purchased at bargain
prices.
Favorable Conditions Exist for Automotive M A
Even though macroeconomic factors will have a chilling effect on deal activity,
automotive is likely to remain one of the hottest sectors for M A. During its
resurgence over the past five years, the automotive industry has been highly
profitable. In addition, the growth prospects for the industry are favorable,
especially in light of the overall low growth economic environment. Despite the
recovery, economic growth in the U.S. and overseas has been stagnant. Average
GDP growth in the U.S. over the past five years is at 2.4 percent. Other leading
world economies such as Japan, Germany, and the United Kingdom have likewise
experienced
Descriptive Essay On Cigarillos
Cigarillos are a shameful comfort of mine. They are a sort of small cigar that is
typically flavored or infused. My father loved this type of cigar. I remember
distinctly the sweet, vanilla scent that came off his freshly lit Jose Gerner one night
in Key West. It was a smell that fascinated me. He sat back in the jacuzzi puffing on
his tiny cigarwith a Becks in his hand. The smell was subtle, yet sweet and not at all
a nuisance like typical cigar smoke. My mother occasionally smoked her own
cigarillos, her s even smaller than my fathers.
In Key West, we had rented a small house with some limited but decent backyard
space. Staying in our vacation house was my parents, sister, and aunt, and uncle. I use
the term aunt and uncle loosely here because they have no blood relation to anyone in
my family. They are the type of family friends who have been in your life more than
most of your actual family. They were and still are to this day, absolute nutcases. My
parents know how to have a good time, but Irene and Jimmy know how to party
harder than anyone even half their age.
From the moment we touched down in Key West my aunt and uncle had already
found a place to smoke a cigarette and found a bar where they could buy a drink. My
uncle typically would order a beer, and my aunt would order a bloody mary. He
was a funeral director, and she worked for a clothing catalog, although, I almost
never saw either of them working, even on weekdays. To be honest, they were very
The Effects Of Human Population On The Environment
Every year the human population on Earth increases by approximately 1.12%, or 80
million, according to the United States Census Bureau. This drastic increase in
population has created a big strain on the environments around us. As the population
increases, so does the amount of fossil fuel consumption, greenhouse gases in the
atmosphere, deforestation, and other detrimental impacts on the environment. This,
in turn, causes the extinctionof at least 10,000 species per million per year and
pushes countless others to the brink ( How Many Species Are We Losing? ). It is
important to maintain Earth s biodiversity, the variety and abundance of organisms
and their habitats, to keep humans healthy and happy. The ecosystem is very
delicate, and the more species disappear, the more the entire ecosystems become
vulnerable and would eventually fall apart as the links in the food chains become
broken ( Endangered Animals of the World ). The ecosystems around the world,
however, provide humans with a wide range of food, medicine, and other industrial
products. For example, honey bees are responsible for 80% of pollination
worldwide. That means that if honey bees were to go extinct, there would be a
drastic decrease in agriculture yield and the amount of food available for
consumption, resulting in a massive food shortage worldwide. It would also result in
a sharp decline in the diversity of plant species which would have other implications.
To stop the further extinction of other
Moral Relativism And Moral Concepts
Moral relativism is a methodological principle of interpretation of the nature of
morality underlying ethical theories. It is expressed in the fact that moral concepts
and ideas gave extremely relative, changeable and arbitrary. Moral principles,
concepts of good and evil are different in different people, social groups, and
individuals in a certain way connected with the interests, beliefs, and inclinations of
people, limited regarding its value time and place.
But this diversity and variability of moral ideas relativists do not see anything in
common and natural. In the end, relativism leads to subjectivity in the interpretation
of moral concepts and judgments, to the denial to them of any objective content.
Ethical relativism often expressed a desire of certain social groups to undermine or
subvert the dominant form of morality, which was given an absolute and dogmatic
sense (absolutism). In the history of ethical teachings, the relativistic conception of
morality is being developed in the slave society. The Sophists, pointing to the moral
conceptions opposed to different nations (that is a virtue in some, condemned by
others as a defect), emphasized the relativity of good and evil (good is what is useful
in some people).
The relativism of the Sophists reflected the desire to debunk the absolute moral
values, institutionalized centuries old traditions of the past. Such an attitude to the
moral principles is also evident in academics the later followers of Plato. In

  • 2. Corruption Of Power In Macbeth Macbeth; The Corruption of Power Throughout the power corrupting play of Macbeth, I feel as if I have learned that it is important to control my own life. Throughout the play, Macbeth is controlled greatly by Lady Macbeth and the three witches. Macbeth s mistakes were all made by his own decisions, but his decisions were brought up by the witches, and pushed through by Lady Macbeth. I believe this story is a great way to show others to stand their ground, and to not let others control them or influence their decisions. I enjoyed the play, but found that the events were very predictable. After the three witches statements, All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Glamis! All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor! All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter! (1.3.49 51) I found that the witches give away that Macbeth was going to be the Thane of Glamis, the Thane of Cawdor, and the king. The impelling action of the story started when Banquo and Macbeth were addressed by the witches and told their prophecy. Next, the rising action occurs when Macbeth kills the guards and Duncan at the castle, and Macbeth is honored as the Thane of Cawdor. Then, Macbeth hires murderers to murder Fleance and Banquo. I find that the climax happens Macbeth sees Banquo s ghost at the banquet due to Fleance escaping. The falling action is when Macduff s family is killed and then he meets with Malcolm. Finally, Macbeth is slain in his and Macduff s duel. In the resolution, the rightful king comes to throne, Malcolm. A message I find the author conveying in this play is that you should always be thankful for what you have. The second message I have found throughout this play, is that power and greed will make a man do anything, even things never thought to be possible. Lastly, I find that a common theme that the author used throughout this play, is that words can be translated in many different ways. I find that the last theme most commonly happens to Macbeth. Macbeth believes that he can not be killed by any man born out of a woman. What Macbeth fails to know, is that Macduff was ripped from his mother s womb by caesarean section. Of Birnam rise, and our high placed Macbeth shall live the lease of nature, pay
  • 3. America s Trade Area Of The Americas History Latin America is composed of seventeen countries which was colonized by Spain s and Portugal. They are large in diverse population with four hundred and ninety million people in total. The percentage of the Indian and African that lives in Latin America is basically seventy five percent just in the cities. The industrial and development grew since the 1960 s; also the free Trade Area of the Americas(FTAA) proposes to integrate economies of Latin America, North America and the Caribbean (except Cuba). Prisons for quite a long time have been a gateway to try to save society. However, the only thing that it s doing is hurting the social order. This happens because it creates more problems that are not being treated from the beginning. Crime has become a big problem during these hard times with the poor economy, but it has especially affected Latin America very deeply because of all the problems that overcrowded prisons have brought forward. In Latin America Brazil and Mexico are the two largest and strongest countries that have been affected with having the highest percentage of crimes, inmates in prisons, and concerns with overcrowded prisons. And these increase with the high crime rates in Latin America that are rising due to drug trafficking wars in Brazil and Mexico. Brazil and Argentina are again the two of Latin America s strongest and largest countries because they make up most of the common market where other nations come to trade, buy goods and buy cash

Influential Americans in Politics Sophia Interlicchio Ms. Casserly Ap US research paper Due: December 21, 2012 Influential Americans in Politics In the United States history, many of our presidents excelled in making this country a better place. Although they may be the head of this nation, they were not always the ones who made major impacts. Governors, senators, abolitionists and congressman all helped change this country and make it what it is today. Past senators Huey Long, Salmon Chase, and William Seward in particular helped change this great nation for the good. They all somewhat had the same view politically and had similar goals. All three of these men were very much for equal rights for all people. Huey Long was no exception to this. Long truly believed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Long rebutted that the Share Our Wealth program was meant to help all poor people; these people included African American and other backgrounds a radical addition for an extremely segregated society. Long accused that the nation s economic downfall was the result of the massive difference between the super rich and everyone else. In Long s opinion, this abundance of money among only the minority of people (wealthy bankers, entrepreneurs and businessmen) limited its availability for average citizens these citizens were the people working in harsh conditions for minimal pay. [2] Huey Long executed extraordinary programs of reconstruction and improvement in Louisiana building roads and bridges, providing free public education and expanding voting rights to all citizens. The underprivileged citizens observed Long as a hero of the common man. The wealthy saw Long as threat and ridiculed him in the media as a demagogue and tyrant. [3] Huey Long never received credit for the government reforms that resulted from his Share Our Wealth movement. [4] Although he persisted in trying to end the failing economy, The Great Depression continued for six years after Long s death. Many of today s federal programs include ideas brought to light by Long. These include social security, veterans benefits, financial aid for colleges and schooling, labor rights, minimum wage and 40 hour work week standards, Medicare and Medicaid, food stamps
  • 5. Playing Guitar Research Paper It may sound complicated, but with a little time and effort, playing guitar is actually a lot simpler than it sounds. Playing guitar, like many other instruments, has many different components. You need to be familiar with a guitar and its parts, and know how to properly hold it before playing. You also need to know how to really get a good sound out. To build off of your guitarskills, you first need to know chord shapes, strumming and picking patterns. Before you can really start to play guitar, you have to be familiar with the parts. There is two main parts of a guitar. The body and the neck. The body is the hollow base of the guitar with an opening for the sound to echo in. This is where the strings are played. The neck is an extension from the body, where the strings extend over the frets. This is where the chords are played. The frets of the guitar are the raised lines along the neck of the guitar. These are used to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First you need to hold the guitar against your body with the neck facing left, the body near your abdomen, and the strings facing forward. For most people, the left hand controls the chords on the neck of the guitar, and the right hand controls the playing of the strings. The left hand and arm should go under the neck of the guitar so you can reach all of the strings with the left hand. The right hang should rest on the top of the body of the guitar with the wrist and hand loosely above the opening of the body. You should hold your hand and wrist somewhat loose to make strumming easier. On your left hand, your first four fingers should be curled to the front of the neck of the guitar and your thumb should stay on the back of the neck. When playing a string, you want to use the tip of your finger to push down on the string, on the fret you want to play. You want to make sure that your fingers do not touch any other strings than the ones you are trying to

The effectiveness and satisfaction of your life will be enhanced if you recognize there are two sides to everything, and understand that there is more to someone or something that meets the eye. In John Gardner s Grendel, he presents Grendel as a truly unique character, who doesn t clearly understand the meaning of lifeand is continuously bullied over the way he looks and acts. Through John Gardner s establishment of humanlike qualities in Grendel s character, he presents a clear example of how there are really two sides to every story and life is a gift. The basis that John Gardner forms his writing of Grendel on is that he feels as if Grendel was wrongly portrayed in the writings of Beowulf. In Beowulf the reader sees Grendel as a horrendous monster in whom kills innocent people for a cause greater than him. However, in Gardner s version of Grendel, when writing to Susie West and her students he, states that he wrote Grendel as a careful philosopher, and that he considered all of the factors that followed his opinion of Grendel: It s true... that a good writer is indeed a careful philosopher; but his method is not to argue...but rather explore, with all care...the various implications...that must be considered when any serious philosophical question is raised...if he s a true artist,he doesn t ram it down the reader s throat:...he explores every avenue of the

The Need For Total Elimination Is Unjustified Paul Churchland argues for the total elimination as opposed to smooth reduction of folk psychology with materialistic sciences to replace it in Eliminative Materialism and The Propositional Attitudes, on grounds that folk psychology is a theory that is primarily flawed due to a severe lack of explanatory power. Additionally has a bad historical trend of retreat and lack of progress, and does not fit well with prominent physical sciences. I will explain his argument in this paper, evaluate it for its importance and show that his conclusion of the need for total elimination is unjustifiable because he has a major misunderstanding of folk psychology. Churchland defines folk psychology as our tacit command of an integrated body of lore concerning the law like relations holding among external circumstances, internal states, and overt behavior (Churchland). He starts off with the variety of roadblocks that materialism has overcome over the years while opposing folk psychology such as qualia and raw feels , leading to the current day barrier of intentionality and propositional attitudes which will be the focus of his arguments. In order to reveal how folk psychology and its claims of intentionality are unnecessary and needs to be eliminated, Churchland first stressed the point that folk psychology is actually a theory, therefore it is open to theoretical failures. For families living in the country this wasn t much of a problem, but the ten Boom house (the Beje), was located on the main street of the city and around the corner from the German headquarters! Since the Beje also served as a pretty famous watch store, this could also be a problem because random people could come in during open store hours. With her visual cues, however, Atwood takes it one step further. Hinging upon readers pre existing knowledge of current world predicaments, Atwood is able to make connections that dredge up feelings of angst and even fear. For example, on page 63, Atwood writes of an instance, which many might compare to the fears of many revolving around the perils of global warning: These were the things his mother rambled on about sometimes, about how everything was being ruined and would never be the same again, like the beach house her family had owned when she was little, the one that got washed away with the rest of the beaches and quite a few of the eastern coastal cities when the sea level rose so quickly, and then there was that huge tidal wave, from Canary Islands volcano (Atwood 63). Is the portion of each gap that is independent of social class changing over time? Answer: Yes, the authors contrasted the rate of changeover time in the social class adjusted gaps. These surveys give convincing evidence that the gaps have decreased over time, but are still widely spread. The authors conclude that it would take over 50 years to close the gap in reading achievement scores and over a century to close the gap in mathematics and science achievement scores. The adjusted gaps for social class, family structure, and community variables were closing from 1965 1992. At this rate of change over the entire period, they would close in the same amount of time as the unadjusted gaps. The rate of change for the unadjusted gaps seem to have reversed after 1972. • 31. Araby tone Araby, a short story from James Joyce s Dubliners, recounts an unnamed boy s transition from childhood into adulthood, from a life filled with fantasy to all the harsh realities of life in Ireland under British rule. The narrator of the story is the older version of the protagonist, and as a result the prose seems far from what a child would write a preadolescent would not display such self awareness and understanding. Further examination of the text shows that the narrator is actually embarrassed and chagrined by the confused adoration towards his friend s older sister that marked his childhood, creating a reflective yet fatuous tone that is developed through the utilization of literary devices such as dramatic diction, simile,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, behind the boy s house is a wild garden [that] contained a central apple tree, a clear allusion to the Garden of Eden. However, the image is distorted by a rusty bicycle pump that the boy finds. He later sarcastically describes Mrs. Mercer s collecting used stamps as having some pious purpose and notices two men [...] counting money on a salver, an action that would not be permitted in a church as it would be viewed as crass and unholy. Ironically, the boy himself is guilty of twisting his religion to suit his own purposes. He believes that his love for Mangan s sister is pure and holy, as shown by his attempt to deify her in his description of her as being not only defined by light, but also touched discreetly by the lamplight at the curved neck, which is reminiscent of the Virgin Mary in Christian iconography. The religious imagery in Araby effectively showcases the narrator s aversion to apotheosis and the practice of placing a person on such a pedestal. By presenting the information in such a way, the narrator once again conveys the fatuous tone by appearing regretful of what he believes to be his perversion of religion as a child and by portraying his actions as foolish and unreasonable. This is accomplished by contrasting the perversion of religion surrounding the protagonist with his deification of the object of his adulation. Because the narrator of Araby is more mature and wiser than the
  • 32. The Theme Of God In Design, By Robert Frost The subject of Robert Frost s Design is simply about life and death, but the theme here is touching upon the question of God s role in the design of nature and the world around us. The poem is more on the dark side from the way he describes the main characters the white spider, the heal all flower, and the moth and the way he starts to questionwhy everything went the way it did. Was it just a random occurrence or does God actually make terrible things, like the spider killing the moth on a flower, happen? To begin with, the speaker starts off the poem by introducing the main characters. There is a spider, described as whiteand fat, then there is the heal all which is basically a flower that is used for medicinal purposes. And last but not least, the moth, who which flutters his way into his death. The big white spider is perched up on the white flower, holding the moth as if they purposely all gathered together for a witches brew. With this observation, the speaker constructs a series of questions: why is the flower, that is usually blue, now white? Why did the spider decide on that specific flower instead of any other one? And why did the moth happen to fly by at that certain moment? In the last line, Frost asks the question of if this how God designed the world to be. The speaker is Robert Frost himself, just a bystander in the distance that so happens to stumble upon this scene and observes it enough to write about it. The poem reveals what he now thinks

Sarasota Real Estate Analysis While most qualified homebuyers with a ready down payment and good credit history are more than welcome by any Sarasota real estate agent, a real estate investor is seen as a pain. In fact, most Sarasota real estate agents consider real estate investors a complete headache when it comes to purchasing any property. There are two main reasons for this... First of all, like any businessperson, a real estate agent likes making a quick and hassle free profit. Secondly, many real estate agents do not have the experience, expertise, or willingness to handle the creative deals that real estate investors need. Nevertheless, real estate investors have no choice but to use an agent because that is the only place where they can access the Multiple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 3. Try persuading the real estate agent to allow you to present the offer directly to the seller (with the agent present of course). You want the seller to hear the offer directly from you, as no one else can match your precision and passion in presenting the offer. It will also allow the seller to address any questions directly to you, instead of going through the real estate agent as a middleman. As a real estate investor you may come across many uncooperative real estate agents. A number of Sarasota real estate agents would prefer not to work with real estate investors because it requires more work than simply writing up a contract and handing over the keys. Don t get discouraged though...there are also many Sarasota real estate agents who enjoy working with real estate investors...especially those that follow the tips above. Article Source:

  • 37. My Design Of Sighting A Gun I.The purpose for my design is to speed up the process of sighting a gun in, the scope to take into compensate the parabolic launch of a bullet, and to hit to target bulls eye. Sighting in a gun requires a long trial and error process that any hunter, marine, or police sniper would agree upon. As a bullet is fired from a rifle it rises a few inches for about one hundred yards or more where it descends below the axis of the barrel. The scope looks like any other scope but will account for the parabolic launch and relocate its self to the correct position for the most accurate shot. Nikon is a company that produces quality scopes and would be a good contestant for the idea. They support their products being brighter, clearer, precise, and rugged, but these are just a few of the attributes knowledgeable hunters commonly use to describe Nikon riflescopes. Nikon is determined to bring hunters, shooters, and sportsmen a wide selection of the best huntingoptics money can buy while at the same time pushing the envelope to create revolutionary capabilities for the serious hunter (Nikon). The design would also need an electrical engineer to design the wiring and microchips /sensors, but a mechanical engineer from Power Electrics would also be needed to fit the motor for the positioning of the scope. I would like to arrange a meeting for all of us to discuss and perfect the idea. II.The scope, Buck Slayer by Slade Mills and Nikon, will be about the same size as any other

Early in the narrative, Dillard recounts her mother s love for language. She illustrates scenes where her mother ingeniously creates scenarios for her daughters along with unsuspecting strangers. Dillard also recounts occasions when her mother uses creative, quick witted gags or questions to both teach her daughters to stay on their toes and catch other people off guard. Throughout the story, Dillard reflects on her mother s tendency to engage people using her unique witticisms, questions, and personality. Throughout the piece, Dillard depicts her mother s quirky nature and intellectual energy by incorporating imagery, word choice, and dialogue.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Dillard illustrates a scene in which she and her family go on a trip to Florida and her mother repeats the name of the tree with emphasis and excitement in her voice to elucidate that she loves the sound of the words. Dillard notes, She repeated tremulously, That... is a royal Poinciana I don t remember the tree; I remember the thrill in her voice (p.353). In this passage, Dillard depicts that her mother does not simply voice the words; instead, Dillard describes that her mother s voice trembles as she conveys the beauty of the words and her reverence for them.(MS4) Furthermore, later in the narrative Dillard recalls that her parents visit to the beach. Her mother spontaneously starts rolling, outstretched toward the shoreline. Dillard writes, She rolled deadpan and apparently effortlessly, arms and legs extended and tidy, down the beach to the distant water s edge. (p.355). This passage depicts an image of Dillard s mother lying out stretched, resembling a log, and rolling in front of a crowd of unsuspecting individuals; this image puts more emphasis on her mother s level of
  • 39. 2016 Outlook For Automotive M A The 2016 Outlook for Automotive M A The easy money policy of the Federal Reserve and the cash swollen balance sheets of corporations and private equity firms alike contributed to an explosion of deal making in 2015. Long term growth in vehicle production and the positive outlook for vehicle sales over the next five years have made automotive one of the leading sectors for M A. We expect deal activity in the automotive sector to remain strong during 2016, but to taper off from 2015 levels. The biggest factor that will suppress deal activity this year is the impending interest rate increase by the Federal Reserve. Other deal squelching factors include geopolitical instability (e.g., in the Middle East and Russia) and the relative scarcity of companies that can be purchased at bargain prices. Favorable Conditions Exist for Automotive M A Even though macroeconomic factors will have a chilling effect on deal activity, automotive is likely to remain one of the hottest sectors for M A. During its resurgence over the past five years, the automotive industry has been highly profitable. In addition, the growth prospects for the industry are favorable, especially in light of the overall low growth economic environment. Despite the recovery, economic growth in the U.S. and overseas has been stagnant. Average GDP growth in the U.S. over the past five years is at 2.4 percent. Other leading world economies such as Japan, Germany, and the United Kingdom have likewise experienced
  • 40. Descriptive Essay On Cigarillos Cigarillos are a shameful comfort of mine. They are a sort of small cigar that is typically flavored or infused. My father loved this type of cigar. I remember distinctly the sweet, vanilla scent that came off his freshly lit Jose Gerner one night in Key West. It was a smell that fascinated me. He sat back in the jacuzzi puffing on his tiny cigarwith a Becks in his hand. The smell was subtle, yet sweet and not at all a nuisance like typical cigar smoke. My mother occasionally smoked her own cigarillos, her s even smaller than my fathers. In Key West, we had rented a small house with some limited but decent backyard space. Staying in our vacation house was my parents, sister, and aunt, and uncle. I use the term aunt and uncle loosely here because they have no blood relation to anyone in my family. They are the type of family friends who have been in your life more than most of your actual family. They were and still are to this day, absolute nutcases. My parents know how to have a good time, but Irene and Jimmy know how to party harder than anyone even half their age. From the moment we touched down in Key West my aunt and uncle had already found a place to smoke a cigarette and found a bar where they could buy a drink. My uncle typically would order a beer, and my aunt would order a bloody mary. He was a funeral director, and she worked for a clothing catalog, although, I almost never saw either of them working, even on weekdays. To be honest, they were very
  • 41. The Effects Of Human Population On The Environment Every year the human population on Earth increases by approximately 1.12%, or 80 million, according to the United States Census Bureau. This drastic increase in population has created a big strain on the environments around us. As the population increases, so does the amount of fossil fuel consumption, greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, deforestation, and other detrimental impacts on the environment. This, in turn, causes the extinctionof at least 10,000 species per million per year and pushes countless others to the brink ( How Many Species Are We Losing? ). It is important to maintain Earth s biodiversity, the variety and abundance of organisms and their habitats, to keep humans healthy and happy. The ecosystem is very delicate, and the more species disappear, the more the entire ecosystems become vulnerable and would eventually fall apart as the links in the food chains become broken ( Endangered Animals of the World ). The ecosystems around the world, however, provide humans with a wide range of food, medicine, and other industrial products. For example, honey bees are responsible for 80% of pollination worldwide. That means that if honey bees were to go extinct, there would be a drastic decrease in agriculture yield and the amount of food available for consumption, resulting in a massive food shortage worldwide. It would also result in a sharp decline in the diversity of plant species which would have other implications. To stop the further extinction of other
  • 42. Moral Relativism And Moral Concepts Moral relativism is a methodological principle of interpretation of the nature of morality underlying ethical theories. It is expressed in the fact that moral concepts and ideas gave extremely relative, changeable and arbitrary. Moral principles, concepts of good and evil are different in different people, social groups, and individuals in a certain way connected with the interests, beliefs, and inclinations of people, limited regarding its value time and place. But this diversity and variability of moral ideas relativists do not see anything in common and natural. In the end, relativism leads to subjectivity in the interpretation of moral concepts and judgments, to the denial to them of any objective content. Ethical relativism often expressed a desire of certain social groups to undermine or subvert the dominant form of morality, which was given an absolute and dogmatic sense (absolutism). In the history of ethical teachings, the relativistic conception of morality is being developed in the slave society. The Sophists, pointing to the moral conceptions opposed to different nations (that is a virtue in some, condemned by others as a defect), emphasized the relativity of good and evil (good is what is useful in some people). The relativism of the Sophists reflected the desire to debunk the absolute moral values, institutionalized centuries old traditions of the past. Such an attitude to the moral principles is also evident in academics the later followers of Plato. In
