Optimal Streaming Protocol for VoD Using Clients' Residual BandwidthIDES Editor
A true VoD system has tremendous demand in the
market. The existing VoD system does not cater the needs
and demands of the market. The major problem in the VoD
system is serving of clients with expected QoS is difficult. In
this paper, we proposed a protocol and algorithm that
chains the proxy servers and subscribed clients. Our
objective is to send one server stream and this stream should
be served to N asynchronous clients. The server bandwidth
is scarcity and on the client uplink bandwidth is
underutilized. In this protocol, we are using client’s residual
bandwidth such that the load on the server bandwidth is
reduced. We have proved that optimal utilization of the
buffer and bandwidth for the entire VoD system and also
less rejection ratio of the clients.
A Set-top-Box (STB) is a very common name heard in the consumer electronics market. It is a device that is attached to a Television for enhancing its functions or the quality of its functions. On the other side, the STB is connected to an external source of signal, like satellite, cable, terrestrial or internet. The STB processes the signal it receives, turns it into content, which is then displayed on the television screen or other display device. There are different types of STBs based on what kind of signals it can receive and what kind of processing it can do. The most widely used STBs are DVB STBs, which receive DVB (Digital Video Broadcast) transmission.

The presentation illustrates the basic principles for declaring (construction-) product characteristics within the European system of regulations and standards. Within the near future we may expect that also environmental product characteristics will become mandatory to be declared by the manufacturer of a construction product. The presentation explains how mandated product characteristics are linked to product standards and methodology standards for measuring (environmental) indicators.

Organizations can pick between numerous free community-supported distributions of the Linux operating system. In the data center and on AWS, Azure, GKE, CloudFlare, DigitalOcean, and other public clouds, these free versions are available as part of the default configuration. Why, then, would you pay for Linux?
These slides, based on a webinar hosted by Red Hat and leading IT research firm EMA, provide insights into what has and has not worked related to the adoption of free versus subscription-based Linux distributions.
While cameras, formats, codecs, and resolution seem to change on a monthly basis, there are only a handful of options for a post-production editorial solution. Producers need to make decisions based on how flexible and extendable the system can be to meet not only the creative needs of the project, but also the overall deliverables for today’s world of multichannel distribution.
The workflows described in this document will focus on three popular camera formats:
1. RED Digital Cinema Cameras (EPIC and SCARLET)
2. ARRI ALEXA
3. Blackmagic Cinema Camera
While some of the processes will be common across these cameras, they each have unique features that need to be understood and considered to form a proper post-production plan. One consideration is the treatment of audio, as it is common to whatever camera is chosen for picture.

Get Mapped: Using Value Stream Mapping to Create a DevOps Adoption RoadmapIBM UrbanCode Products
Adopting DevOps is not a “one-and-done” project. It is adopting a mindset, a culture. It is a commitment to a journey of continuous improvement by adopting a set of capabilities and practices that are based on Lean principles. Adopting DevOps requires process improvement, automation of the processes using tools, and organizational change to enable a DevOps culture.
The question then becomes – where does one start?
Recover 30% of your day with IBM Development Tools (Smarter Mainframe Develop...Susan Yoskin
If you need to attract new developers, and want to keep your company’s name out of the headlines, then this session is for you. When your business depends on your mainframe apps working and performing well—all the time—you need to be alerted to issues as they occur and have the tools to help you find and fix the problems and test your solutions before disaster strikes (we’ve all been in those late night and weekend drills). You also need to continue supporting these applications for years to come, and that will require new talent.
This session will introduce you to the development environments that college grads are already comfortable with, and help your applications become more resilient at the same time. We’ll walk you through the tools to help you accomplish all of this and demo some scenarios to show you how efficiently our tools can perform the tasks that slow you down.
Today's applications rarely live in isolation. Users expect instant access across all functions, which may reside in disparate applications or third-party services. However, building distributed and integrated applications requires developers to tackle asynchrony, partial failures, incompatible data models, API drift, and much more.

Standards, rating tools and regulationsChris Hamans
Assigning standards and building rating tools in regulations.
The presentation aims to explain how environmental performance requirements to works (buildings), that most likely will result into new additional product information, can be linked to building rating tools and to Environmental Product Declarations.
The interpretation of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR , 305/2011) is not that easy to understand to everyone, but the Regulation contains all the procedural elements that provide maximum freedom to Member States to set their own performance requirements to works (buildings) that might however require new and different declarations on a construction product's environmental performance when giving national interpretations to the Basic Requirement nr. 7 : "the sustainable use of natural resources". However the assignment of the appropriate European Standards, designed to assure a uniform and harmonised measurement and declaration of performances, are the ready to use "key".
The presentation shows how to use regulations, building rating tools, standards for quantifying building performances and standards for measuring product performances that provide the necessary input to the quantification of the (environmental) building performance.
Indoor air quality in the sustainability assessment through en16309Chris Hamans
INDOOR AIR QUALITY can be described and measured in indicators in specifying the buildings social performance contributing to the aspect HEALTH and COMFORT.
The presentation positions the INDOOR AIR QUALITY in the USE STAGE of the building: the indoor air quality for the building USER is of importance during during "regular" use but also during maintenance, repair and replacement activities, etc.
A check list approach allows a comprehensive assessment per information module on the basis of a building specific and use specific scenario.

Recycling: bridging two or more life cyclesChris Hamans
Recycling of waste into a secondary product seems to cause problems in the the life cycle assessment. This presentation is trying to visualise the flows, boundaries and principles of calculation as defined on the CEN-standard text in EN15804 and EN15978 (assessment for environmental performance assessment of respectively construction products and buildings)
CPR - BRCW #7: using cen tc350 standards for implementationChris Hamans
The Construction Product Regulation - CPR- (EU Regulation 305/2011) defines a Basic Requirements for Construction Works: the sustainable use of resources. Member States and the building sector seem to be are struggling with this Basic Requirement to works.
IF Member States set requirements for this on works (buildings) and IF this results in demanding additional information on construction products then EN15978 and EN15804 are the appropriate tools for specifying the methodologies and indicators. The rules (especially the recitals) in the CPR show the way.

CEN TC350 Standards for sustainability assessment of works and construction products.
The 1st. generation of this suit of standards now is almost complete. The presentation gives an overview on the available standards and first conclusions to be drawn. The TC350 standardisation committee in November will r present a new business plan and propose some new activities and updates for the existing standards: the 2nd generation of CEN TC350 standards.
This overview was first presented at the Polish Building Physics Conference in Slok at 20-6-2013.
Life Cycle Stages - modules - scenarios - MNA - INA in CEN TC350 standardsChris Hamans
CEN TC350 Sustainability standards. In the sustainability assessment of buildings a systematic approach is important. The standard prEN16309, the sustainability assessment of the social performance of buildings, the distinction made between Life Cycle Stages, and Information Modules is to be understood. Also a precise specification of the scenarios needs attention. The presentation highlights those assessment issues as well clarifies how and where exemptions can be made in the assessments. These principles apply to all assessment standards: EN15804 (for environmental product assessment), EN15978 (for environmental building assessment) and for the standard assessing the building life cycle costs (in development)

Improving profitability for small businessBen Wann
In this comprehensive presentation, we will explore strategies and practical tips for enhancing profitability in small businesses. Tailored to meet the unique challenges faced by small enterprises, this session covers various aspects that directly impact the bottom line. Attendees will learn how to optimize operational efficiency, manage expenses, and increase revenue through innovative marketing and customer engagement techniques.
Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.
