knowledge about how individuals and groups
act within the organisations where they work.
 Individuals in organisations ( Micro- level)

 How organisations behave (Macro- level)
If I want to understand my boss’s
personality, I would be examining the
individual level of analysis. If we want to
know how my manger’s personality affects
my team, I am examining the things at
team level. But, if I want to understand how
my organisation’s culture affects my boss’s
behaviour, I would be interested
organizational level
Ob helps understand himself & other better.
Ob helps to understand on the basis of
motivation.
Ob is useful for maintaining cordial
industrial relation.
It helps in motivating employee.
•To learn about yourself and how to deal with
others.
•Some of you want to be managers or
entrepreneurs.
•To become familiar with team work.
•To understand how organizations work.

 A total systems approach
Library is a social institution. It needs a simple &
systematic organizational structure to achieve its goals &
objectives.
The librarian should be adopt various suitable criteria
structure necessary programs and activities of library.
Organisation use management control system I n order
to influence employees behavior in the right direction.
 Organizational behavior is specifically concerned
with employment related environments.
 Manager of a library and information centre must
study organizational behavior to know about
individual behavior and thus apply it to make the
organisations work more effectively
 Middle level:This involves the department heads
 Lower level: Supervisors
 Ensure that worker's motives and values are appropriate
for the jobs assigned to them.
 Define work goals that are clear, challenging, attractive,
and attainable.
 Make jobs attractive to and consistent with worker's
motives and values.
 Create supportive social environments.
 To predict: Predicting future behavior of employee is
another goal of organizational behavior. Usually, managers
would have the capacity to predict why the employees are
committed to the organization or not. For instance, I have to
realize why he wants to leave my organization, how I can
hold the officer in my organization, what should be done by
me in this situation or what my role is etc.
 To understand: The second goal of organizational behaviour
is to understand why people behave as they do. Managers
have to understand the reasons behind a particular action.
For example, as a manager, I must find out the reason why
the junior officer is coming late and going earlier.
To control: The final goal of organizational behavior is to control and
develop a friendly atmosphere for the organization. Since managers
are responsible for the overall performance of an organization, they
must develop workers’ teamwork, skill and commitment

Usually, managers would have the capacity to predict why the employees are committed to the organization or not. For instance, I have to realize why he wants to leave my organization, how I can hold the officer in my organization, what should be done by me in this situation or what my role is etc.  To understand: The second goal of organizational behaviour is to understand why people behave as they do. Managers have to understand the reasons behind a particular action. For example, as a manager, I must find out the reason why the junior officer is coming late and going earlier.
  • 17. To control: The final goal of organizational behavior is to control and develop a friendly atmosphere for the organization. Since managers are responsible for the overall performance of an organization, they must develop workers’ teamwork, skill and commitment
