admissions committee with an enhanced perspective on my candidacy. It is the reflection of these
formative experiences, that resonate so strongly with MIT Sloan’s mission of promoting principled and
impactful leadership that positively affects the world, that has brought me to this juncture in applying to the
MIT Sloan MBA program.
A Closer Look

Gaining new insights:

in Myanmar. I have assisted the IL&FS
senior management in several
initiatives to assess the dynamic
business environment in emerging
economies in Southeast Asia such as
Myanmar
Forging collaborations:
Discussions with MCC, a Fortune 500
infrastructure developer from China, at
its regional headquarters in Wuhan to
deliberate over upcoming collaboration
opportunities in the sector. On the
business development front, I have
worked to develop new partnerships
for IL&FS in Asia and Oceania with
several leading investment funds,
financial institutions and contractors
Challenging boundaries:
From 2010 to 2013, I led a team of 32
undergraduates in designing, funding,
and building an all-terrain vehicle to
enter into SAE BAJA off-road racing
competitions in the United States and
India. The manifold lessons in team-
building and project management from
this entrepreneurial experience have
been deeply influential on my approach
towards solving business problems

2. Expanding Horizons
My professional journey has its roots in India where I witnessed the wide-ranging
positive impact that infrastructure could have on people. Working with Tata Hitachi as
a key accounts manager, I advised a Hubli, India based non-profit, the Deshpande
Foundation, on a project called “Neer Sinchana” which involved the development of
over 1,700 water-ponds covering villages of North Karnataka, India. Visiting one of
these villages afterwards, I was astounded by the project’s impact. This seemingly
small act of digging ponds helped catalyse a resurgence in the agrarian economy and
generate employment, while developing the area’s water supply. Elated at having
played a part in this initiative, I decided to build a career in the infrastructure industry,
where I could utilize my quantitative capabilities to help solve societal issues.
Discovering new roads with Tata Hitachi
Personally, I have grown through my experiences working as a pro bono consultant to
the board of St. Jude’s India Childcare Centers, one of India’s largest non-profits
combating childhood cancer. I worked closely with an international team from
Thomson Reuters to develop new frameworks for fundraising and communications,
implemented various analytics tools to double organic growth on Facebook, launched
new channels on LinkedIn (corporate focus) and Instagram (real-time updates), and
established a monthly audit process alongside interactions with senior management to
optimize content delivery. To gain a deeper understanding of the subject, I completed
an online course in Customer Analytics which helped me in deriving actionable
intelligence from large datasets. It has been extremely gratifying to use my business
skills to empower such a worthy cause.
Putting skills into action with St. Jude
In March 2016, I promoted an online campaign for a St. Jude fundraising initiative, “RideToRaise,”
which was led by Deutsche Bank’s leadership team in India alongside several other senior bankers,
who rode their bicycles non-stop from New Delhi to Mumbai over 24 hours. Using the online
crowdfunding platform Ketto, the campaign helped raise over $200K in funding to support
underprivileged children in their fight against cancer
To ensure the project’s success, I supported the Deshpande Foundation, which lacked construction
expertise, by identifying the optimum mix of equipment appropriate for the scope of envisaged work,
suggesting local contractors to provide on-ground support, and highlighting best operational practices to
ensure high levels of equipment serviceability in the face of tight deadlines
