This document discusses the optimization of outrigger braced structures using regression analysis. Tall buildings require special structural systems to resist lateral loads from wind and earthquakes. Outrigger braced structures are commonly used as they efficiently resist overturning moments. The document studies existing methods to calculate top deflection in outrigger structures. It then uses regression analysis to develop a relationship between variables that affect top deflection. Building models are analyzed varying outrigger position and depth, and the regression equation is formulated based on parameters like outrigger properties and dimensions. Results show the regression-based equation produces favorable results with safety factors of 0.88-0.99 compared to other methods.
