There were three main forms of opposition to Roosevelt's New Deal policies. Some argued the New Deal did not go far enough to help Americans, like Francis Townsend, Father Coughlin, and Huey Long. Others like businesses and Republicans believed the New Deal overstepped and did too much. The Supreme Court also opposed several New Deal programs and laws in key rulings like Schechter Poultry Corporation in 1935 and United States v. Butler.
