And, in order to make innovative discussion even more accessible to a broader student population, Georgetown chose to introduce a virtual IdeaScale community to further enrich the discussion.

Emphasizing the importance of connections between people, institutions, organization over the implementation details of technology, licensing, and content for open education growth. Moving from the Maricopa College District to the entire state of Arizona and through the national CCCOER organization and other open education community members in North America to the world. The world view starts with OEGlobal and then internationally to UNESCO's OER 40C Resolution and finally bringing it back to student benefits through an open pedagogy project at Montgomery College and Kwantlen Polytechnical University linking to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Open pedagogy can be thought of as having two key aspects: 1) an access-oriented commitment to learner-driven education, and 2) a process of designing architectures and tools that enable students to shape public knowledge. It values reducing barriers to learning through choices like open educational resources and accessible technology. It also prioritizes learner agency, production-centered learning, and student-curated resources. Effective open pedagogy involves providing online spaces for collaboration, inviting connections within and beyond the course, and using tools that consider student access and data/privacy issues. It recognizes students as fellow learners rather than consumers, valuing the humanity of education.

1. They acknowledge students' prior digital experiences and develop their digital literacy skills, which are increasingly incorporating open resources.
2. They allow for new pedagogical models that shift boundaries between institutions and blur formal/informal learning.
3. When coupled with new authoring tools, OER have potential to disrupt traditional curriculum design and bring more contextualized, collaborative courses within practitioners' reach.

Antonio Martínez-Arboleda is Academic Lead for Open Educational Practice and Co-Director of the Centre for Research in Digital Education of the University of Leeds. Antonio has been a champion and practitioner of open education since 2009, initially as part of the Humbox team and co-researcher of the JISC funded project OpenLIVES on Digitised Life Stories. His scholarship focuses on the areas of OER (Open Educational Resources) and Critical Digital Pedagogies.
