This document provides an overview of online class types and getting started information for students at Whatcom Community College. There are four main types of online classes: online (ONL), online (OL), hybrid (HY), and web enhanced (WE). Online classes are accessed through Angel and may have different start/stop dates than other college courses. Hybrid classes have both online and in-person components, while web enhanced classes are traditional in-person courses that also use online resources. The document emphasizes being prepared and responsible for staying on top of online classwork, checking in regularly, and meeting deadlines. Students are also directed to available help resources if issues arise.

Virtual Campus Release 3.0 is the perfect online solution for schools, organizations, businesses and associations to deploy community-based and highly collaborative e-Learning portals. Create massive online communities of knowledge and learning, and allow mentors to manage their courses online so they could conduct e-Learning classes anywhere, anytime.
The goal of SIMVote2009 is to work with students and faculty members of individual high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools to develop and implement this program on campus, educating and empowering students to become more civically engaged. We will provide each participating schools “Campus Leaders” with training on how to successfully implement this program, as well as provide support to participating schools every step of the way. Through workshops on elections and democracy, interactive activities, which utilize the Arsalyn Program’s Democracy in Action curriculum, and introductory seminars, the students will engage with the issues that drive elections, the processes of holding elections and the issues that affect elections in our democracy.
My favorite part of this project is that it is intended to be flexible - each school can decide whether to incorporate SIMVote into many days of curriculum, just one day centered on a SIMElection, as a student club on campus, or in any form that fits each schools’ needs best. Here is a list of elements that have been previously incorporated into SIMVote:
SIMElection: we will provide personalized ballots designed to fit the needs of each school,
SIMRegistration Drives,
Student-led workshops taught to peers, to younger students, and to community groups,
Teacher-led workshops incorporated into classroom curriculum,
Guest speakers including local candidates and their staff to speak to issues driving elections,
A voting “field day” in which students campus-wide participate in various activities to promote civic engagement, and
Service projects: both student-led and teacher-led.

eLearning or online learning is where students learn through a digital platform instead of going to school, college, or educational center to attend classes in person. Learning happens at a distance as opposed to traditional learning. Computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, etc., are used for eLearning. An internet connection is a must for online learning.
The classes, however, can be live-streamed or recorded and shared. Communication apps like Zoom, Google Hangouts, etc., are used to teach a group of students at once. That said, eLearning through exclusive apps like Byjus, Duolingo, Extramarks, and many other EdTech platforms have revolutionized the educational industry.
Statistics suggest that the global eLearning market will reach $325 billion by 2025. Almost 80% of the corporates use eLearning solutions and 50% of the students have used an eLearning platform one time or another. Educational institutions in several countries are adopting eLearning as a part of their infrastructure.
So does this mean that online learning is better than traditional learning?
Well, online learning has many advantages over traditional learning. Whether it is the freedom to study according to one’s schedule or the access to lectures by experts in the domain irrespective of geographical restrictions, eLearning helps overcome the challenges faced by traditional learning.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
