2. In this camera shot the audience can clearly see that
the lens has an extremely low depth of focus, this
happens to be very common in short films as it gives
the film a more professional look. This filter is also
more commonly used on ‘Instagram’.

3. The shot used here is very effective as it manages to show
the primary image that is the homeless man, and show his
emotionless face. However, it also shows this man in a
suit who obviously is doing incredibly well, you just catch
a glimpse of him in the mirror looking annoyed. He shows
no empathy towards the homeless man.

4. Another typical convention of a short film is that it does
not overwhelm the scenes with many characters, 3 in
this case. Also this is because it does not have time to
introduce their back stories.

5. The film uses creative yet basic camera angles, such as
this over the camera shot. This is done and carried out
throughout the film so as to make the audience feel
comfortable with the normal styles of film and
television.

6. The greatest part of this short film, amongst many
others, is the feel good factor brought with a plot
twist. In this short film it happens to be as the other
mans clothes are thrown viciously from the window,
the homeless man smoothly pulls them on as if pulling
on a change of lifestyle.

7. The use of only two locations throughout the film is
keeping in with short film conventions as short films do
not have a big budget if any, for example most are shot
on the producers own cameras.

8. The use of a single camera technique is clearly obvious
in this short film and the camera angles do not vary
much, furthermore you don’t get many camera angles
of the same scene. This could be down to the amateur
camera work from the director or however it could be
due to lack of camera equipment such as a crane or
slider.

9. Symbolism is also used in short films as some of the films
plot is to explain a concept or even a fable. The use of
shoes being slung over a telephone wire is used
effectively to express this very point, the concept of
‘One mans loss is another mans gain’.
