Active voice In an  active sentence  we say  what the subject  does:  E.g..:  My grandfather  was a builder.  He built  this house. She cleans  her room everyday.
Passive voice In a passive sentence we say  what happens to the subject: e.g.:  This house is quite old.  It was built  in  1956. if we want to say who does or what causes the action we use  by e.g.: this house was built  by  my father
When do we use passive voice? When who or what causes the action is not important or unknown e.g.: We say: the computer was fixed  Instead of : someone fixed the computer (it is not important who)
Passive voice structure  Present simple : Active: clean(s)/ see(s) etc. Passive: am/is/are + clean ,see, etc. e.g.: this room is cleaned every day. Past simple : Active: cleaned, saw, etc. Passive: was/were + cleaned/seen etc. e.g.: this room was cleaned yesterday.
Present perfect : Active: have/has + done, etc. Passive: have/has been + done, etc. e.g.: the room has been cleaned. the rooms have been cleaned. Past perfect : Active: had + done, etc. Passive: had been + done, etc. e.g.: this room had been cleaned.
Present continuous :   Active: am/is/are + (do)ing Passive: am/is/are + being + done, cleaned , etc. e.g.: the room is being cleaned at the moment. Past continuous :  Active: was/were + (do)ing Passive: was/were + being + done, cleaned, etc. e.g.: the room was being cleaned when I arrived.
Future : Active: will + done, cleaned, etc . Passive: will + be + done, cleaned, etc. e.g.: the walls will be painted tomorrow.
Exercises  Write the following sentences in passive voice:  1. They arrested her last week. .  2. John wrote a letter. .  3. They invited ten friends to the party. .  4.
