2. Open Education Resource
BENEFITS
FREE!! –
Student, Faculty, Anyone can access these resources. The only thing needed is internet access.
Structured Classes –
Many of the Creative Commons classes are shown in structured formats through modules, hours
needed to complete the course, submitted/saved work.
OPEN –
Open Professionals Education Network is an online database of the commonly used open
education resource sites. These sites are broken into categories that allow the participant to
narrow the search of the item needed. The sites are creditable sites, so you are not wondering
what you are getting into.
Quality Choices –
If you don’t understand the creator of the choice. Look for another one, it is out there in a
different method.
Peer Review –
Many of the documents through Open Education Resources are being peer reviewed and have
the participants reviewing the material, so you know what others think before you begin into
the document.
3. Open Education Resource
CHALLENGES
FREE!! –
The Open Education Resources are free, so anyone can post their documents. What is
creditable?
Content Understanding –
Even though these sites/documents can be used to prepare for courses and even help
retain information, the face-to-face contact with the instructor is a must. I don’t think
we need to look over that.
What is OPEN!! –
Understanding what the Creative Commons license stand for. The percentage of people
that understand how they can use the OER/OPEN resources is very small. Education
needs to be done to get people up to speed on how these items can be used.
Author –
An author that is illegally posting the document. What does this do to the document or
citing the document, if needed.
I Need –
The lack of subject matter documents.
