- Good morning Sir, and good morning my fellow classmates. My topic is a continuation of Module 4, The Flexible Learning Environment. But before we proceed, let me first have a brief review of the Lesson 1, that is all about Online Distance Education and Communities of Learners.
To sum it up, Online distance learning is not a new concept. This kind of learning is being adapted especially by the CHED (Commission on Higher Education. And this is the reason why many online platforms are emerging such as Moodle, Google classroom, Edmodo, Schoology and MOOC’s.
There are also different kinds of flexible learning mode, the activities can be done in two ways:
1) synchronous and 2)asynchronous. When we say Synchronous, this is an online chat at real time where participants meet in a virtual classroom and discuss a topic in the lesson while the Asynchronous activities can be done at any time, or the most convenient time of the learners.
Another way of handling flexible learning is by combining modalities on instructional delivery which is the blended learning.
Furthermore, there are different social networking platforms such as facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Flickr and many more.
The use of social networking sites have both benefits and dangers that is why it is a must to safeguard oneself when engaging in social networking sites.
So now that we learned about the lesson 1. Let’s proceed to the Lesson 2 which is all about Online Resources. Educational Sites, and Portals.
Before we proceed with our discussion, let me introduce first the learning objectives of our lesson where we can be able to:
Identify educational sites and portals suitable to the subject area and number 2, select an appropriate resource portal or educational site in relation to the identified subject area.
- Before we proceed, let me share with you a quotation according to Confucius, a Chinese Philosopher. That, when you know, what you know and do not know, that is true knowledge.
- As a teacher or as a future teacher, we should be aware of what we already know, and what we do not know yet. Kailangan nating ma-identify mula sa ating sarili, hindi lamang yung mga bagay na alam na nating gawin or yung mga kaalaman natin, kundi maging ang mga bagay na hindi pa natin alam at kailangan nating matutunan.
- And this quotation has something to do with our topic for today.
-In planning a day's lesson there is a wide range of preferences that can be used to relate well with Learners of this age.
-And Online sources sites and portals suggest tools and describe how they can be used to engage learners.
Take a look at the image and identify the iPad apps, Android apps, and web tools.
Have you checked any of these? Which one will you utilize and in which class of Learners can you use them?
How will you employ the tool in your lesson?
So now, let us identify first the iPad apps, Android apps, and web tools and their usage
First, we have here the iPad apps, example is Telegammi. It is a mobile app that lets you create and share a quick animated video called, a Gami.
And a Gammi can be an exciting tweet or status update, it can be a fun way to tell a story.
Let me elaborate first the definition of an educational site and portal and its uses.
They are websites that support different educational sectors by providing access to relevant information and tools to each group served.
They are also the websites that offer online learning opportunities, courses, resources, and information for various topics and levels.
Instructors can find valuable educational resources to develop their teaching and by using these portals, they enhance student-centered learning.
The Education portal is a uniquely planned design that gives a large group of educational information, administrations and content
The term portal was generally used to detect a port or area of numerous stacking and
