Teachers are the most important resource in today’s schools. In every country, teachers’ salaries and training represent the greatest share of expenditure in education. And this investment in teachers can have significant returns: research shows that being taught by the best teachers can make a real difference in the learning and life outcomes of otherwise similar students. Teachers, in other words, are not interchangeable workers in some sort of industrial assembly line; individual teachers can change lives – and better teachers are crucial to improving the education that schools provide. Improving the effectiveness, efficiency and equity of schooling depends, in large measure, on ensuring that competent people want to work as teachers, that their teaching is of high quality and that high-quality teaching is provided to all students. This report, building on data from the Indicators of Education Systems (INES) programme, the Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) and the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), explores three teacher-policy questions: How do the best-performing countries select, develop, evaluate and compensate teachers? ICT education in Fiji is a developing concept. Despite having accessibility to all the modern digital devices, educators are still reluctant to discover the abilities digital devices provide because of the unknown factor. This presentation introduces teachers to Tablet technology and how mobile learning devices like APTUS provides an equitable access to quality resources.
Public education is universally required at the K–12 level, and is available at state colleges and universities for all students. K–12 public school curricula, budgets, and policies are set through locally elected school boards, who have jurisdiction over individual school districts. State governments set overall educational standards, often mandate standardized tests for K–12 public school systems, and supervise, usually through a board of regents, state colleges and universities. Funding comes from the state, local, and federal government.[4]
Private schools are generally free to determine their own curriculum and staffing policies, with voluntary accreditation available through independent regional accreditation authorities. About 87% of school-age children attend public schools, about 10% attend private schools,[5] and roughly 3% are home-schooled.
Village Level Studies (VLS) program of ICRISAT has been an avenue for learning and capacity building for researchers. Objective of the study is to trace researchers (from 1975 – 2013) who availed research opportunities through VLS.

This presentation outlines some key considerations for researchers working in the fields of open education, OER and MOOC. Key lines of debate in the open education movement will be described and critically assessed. A reflective overview of the award-winning OER Research Hub project will be used to frame several key considerations around the methodology and purpose of OER research (including 'impact' and 'open practices'). These will be compared with results from a 2016 OER Hub consultation with key stakeholders in the open education movement on research priorities for the sector. The presentation will conclude with thoughts on the potential for openness to act as a disruptive force in higher education.

Objective To assess the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding first aid management of epilepsy in school children among teachers. Materials and methods A quantitative research approach with Pre Experimental one group pretest and post test design was used to conduct the study in selected schools of Greater Noida. Non probability purposive sampling technique was employed to select 30 school teachers. A self structured knowledge questionnaire containing 26 items were used for assessing the level of knowledge among the subjects. Data were analyzed using SPSS. Results The mean knowledge score of the school teachers in pretest 14.03±4.514 is lesser than the mean knowledge score of school teachers in post test 18.23±3.848, t value 2.045 which is significant P = 0.05.There was an association found between the score level with their previous source of information. Conclusion The study is concluded that planned teaching programme was effective to enhance knowledge among school teachers regarding first aid management of epilepsy. This presentation at OE Global 2018 discusses open educational resource and open eductional practice activities and projects in the Global South under Gidden's (2010) social inclusivity lens, with an eye to answering the question "Whether, why, and how do OEP and OER contribute to the social inclusion of underserved communities in the Global South?" It explores the idea that although OER and OEP may widen access to materials, they may also have an unintended consequence of reinforcing epistemic dependency on Global North pedagogies and theories.

This session provides a comprehensive overview of the latest updates to the Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (commonly known as the Uniform Guidance) outlined in the 2 CFR 200.
With a focus on the 2024 revisions issued by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), participants will gain insight into the key changes affecting federal grant recipients. The session will delve into critical regulatory updates, providing attendees with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate and comply with the evolving landscape of federal grant management.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the rationale behind the 2024 updates to the Uniform Guidance outlined in 2 CFR 200, and their implications for federal grant recipients.

Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.
