The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

T
he Solid Rock Garden is a 3/4 acre benevolent garden ministry of the Castle
Hills Church of the Nazarene, begun in the fall
of 2011. The ministry mission is to grow and
distribute healthy food to those who might otherwise go without. We partner with local food
banks, the Boise Rescue Mission, and Life's
Kitchen in our mission effort to get food to as
many people in need as possible. We grew and
distributed more than four tons of produce each
of the first two years, and so far this 2013 season
we have given away just over five tons of wonderful organically grown produce (and the 2013
harvest is still underway!).
We are blessed with a wonderful partnership with Ada County Sheriff ’s Alternate Sentencing Program. Over the past 3 years, more
than 4,000 hours of labor have been poured
into the ministry from these wonderful people.
Friendship is the sweetest produce God grows
in our garden.
Each autumn we thank the Lord for the harvest and do our best to thank the neighbors and
Ada County workers who partner with us in
the work. Sunday, September 15, was our 3rd
Annual Harvest Celebration & Outdoor
Worship Service. Puppeteers from Nampa First
Church, sound expertise provided by Dave &
Marcus Young (Nampa College Church), and
outdoor barbecue provided by Dan Sweet (Meridian Valley Shepherd Church) made the event
a collaborative effort of our Treasure Valley
churches. Our people provide delicious homemade food (and homemade root beer too!),
beautiful decorations, fun games and activities
for children, along with the warmth of sincere
gratitude and welcome.
We enjoy having visitors in the garden. If you

October 3 — Twin Falls
October 17 — Nampa
This is the one time of the year that we
spend time with our camp family talking
about what has been accomplished and what
is planned for Trinity Pines.
The evening will include a meal, special
presentations, and great stories. You will
hear an update about our summer mission
project, interviews with those who have been
involved at Trinity Pines, and experience an
evening of inspiration.
This is a wonderful event to invite guests
to attend with you. Reservations must be
made in advance of the event. You can
contact Cindy in our Meridian Camps office
at 888-0988 or by email at cindy@amgidaho.
com.
Our annual goal will be shared during
the evening. Dress for the event is business
casual. If you love Trinity Pines, then you
will want to be at Share the Dream VII to
celebrate with us what has been accomplished
at the camp and in the lives of people.

PRAY?
PRAY
Prayer is one of our 4 NMI core values. It is
one of the greatest privileges we have been given
as Christians. The heart of Missions begins with
PRAYER! NMI brings us together for prayer in the
local church by linking us to our Christian family
around the world.
Here are a few suggestions from a friend on the
NMI Global Council for praying more effectively
for Missions:
1 Ask God to give you a Spirit of prayer.

The Apostle Paul
wrote to Timothy and said, “The
elders who direct
the affairs of the
church well are
worthy of double
honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching” (1 Timothy 5:17 NIV). Those
who do the “preaching and teaching” in your
congregation will be deeply honored through
your expressions of grace. Celebrate those who
have answered God’s call and are serving with
intentionality. We recommend a complimentary resource available on the Focus on the

Singles Retreat
O
ver the summer, a heavy timber pergola
was built over the deck of Trinity Pines Jubilation Station. The design and cost related to
the structure was a gift from Brian and Bonnie
Seilaff of Boise. The Sielaffs became involved
with Trinity Pines through Upwards Basketball
and Casey Wilkerson (former children’s pastor
at Valley Shepherd Church). The pergola was
dedicated in honor of Casey and his wife, Alyssa,
during Adult Retreat. More about this wonderful story of relationships will be shared at Share
the Dream VII.
