In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

OUR VISION
To truly be the Church on the hill with the CROSS,
reaching out to the Gem Valley and beyond to the whole
world. We believe all generations need the Gospel, and
have a special concern for the younger generations to
come to Christ, and to His Church. Hence, we will remain committed to effective ministry to all age groups;
but we will specifically strive to strengthen our ministry
to youth, as God grants us opportunity.

WORLD MISSION PRAYERS
PRAISES
We praise God for the opportunities He provides for men and women
to participate in Work & Witness trips. Here is a short story from the
North Andean Field leaders about a team that recently worked at the
Roldos Church in Quito, Ecuador:
“We want to praise the Lord for the Missouri District Work and Witness team that worked two weeks at the Roldos church in Quito Ecuador. The team was made up of adults and youth from seven different
churches. They worked hard at preparing and then pouring the concrete floor of the second story. They were able to get some of the
blocks laid for the second story. As well as doing child evangelism in
the neighborhood they also held a sewing class and the ladies of the
church made aprons for themselves and their little girls. It was a special blessing to see them model their aprons at the praise service on
the last night. We want to thank the Missouri District for coming and
being servants of the Lord.”
PRAY FOR
Please continue to pray for the people who have suffered loss
because of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. May the Lord’s
comfort and provision be manifest in a powerful way. Pray that all
people will have access to clean water, needed medicines, food,
shelter, and other necessities. Pray for those who are dealing with
broken hearts due to loss of family and friends. Pray also for
Nazarene Disaster Response teams that are on the ground providing aid. May people see Jesus in them. Lord, protect them as
they minister.
A series of tornados blew through the Midwest portion of the
U.S.A. on November 17 leaving a path of destruction and loss of
life. Pray for all those who have been affected by the storms and
for the process of recovery.
Please remember to pray for missionaries who have served the
Lord and church faithfully and are now transitioning to life back in
their home countries. Pray especially for those men and women
who have earned the title “retired missionary”, indicating many
years of service in cultures other than their own.
