This document discusses occupational health and safety (OHS) management in Afghanistan's construction industry. It finds that OHS regulations are not commonly adopted and safety knowledge is poor. There is no safety training required and no OHS subjects taught in engineering programs. After 2002, construction increased rapidly but there were no OHS standards. Projects followed different standards, with US projects having the strictest regulations and private projects having little safety oversight. Recommendations include requiring safety training and courses, developing national OHS regulations, and mandating safety compliance in all construction contracts.
