Use and cite at least one article source from our library’s database holdings (EBSCOhost or LEXIS/NEXIS, etc.) in your explanation of its impact. A regular internet source will not meet this requirement. Discuss why, how, or in what way(s) this invention or change was significant to the culture. ANChor: A powerful approach to scientific communication
In science, the failure to communicate effectively can mean the death of a proposal, the rejection of a paper, or failure to obtain a job. Coalescing the ideas of many experts in cognitive psychology and technical communication, I have created a general framework for scientific communication that I use extensively for scientific presentations, grant proposals, academic papers, and posters which I call ANChor (Assertions, Noise, and Cohesion). I propose that this approach is a powerful way to unify, clarify, and sharpen scientific messages for the benefit of both the audience and the author.
This methodology has proven effectiveness based on 4 presentation awards given to myself and my colleagues resulting from the use of this framework.

Engineers use oral presentations to efficiently and effectively transfer information to a wide
range of audiences. Usually, the setting and circumstances allow for direct interaction between the
speaker and the audience. Oral presentations are a common method of evaluating the progress of a
project and the progress of the individual. The ability to present oneself and one’s project in a com-
petent and succinct manner enhances one’s college and career development.
Multiple components make up an oral presentation: 1) the audience, 2) the content and organi-
zation, 3) visual aids, and 4) the speaker. Student design teams have control over the last three
items, but little control over the audience. Thus, a presentation goal is to prepare effective visual
aids and a presentation method to capture and maintain the attention of the audience. As with writ-
ing, styles of oral presentation are numerous. All good presentations rely on clarity of expression, an
easily followed train of thought and well thought-out visual aids that illustrate key points in the talk.
High-quality visual aids can make or break a presentation as can poor organization and a sloppy
presentation style (e.g., mumbling, talking to one’s feet or failing to make eye contact with the audi-
ence).

Since presentations are always prepared for an audience, the presenter must evaluate the
audience and determine the best way to pique its interest. Determine who will attend the presenta-
tion. Gather informaiton on the technical awareness of the audience as a whole and the degree of
familiarity that the audience has in the subject. For instance, a presentation on modeling weather
patterns in the Pacific Ocean would be different for an audience of middle school students versus
one prepared for an audience of applied mathematicians. By assessing the audience correctly, the
speaker determines the best way to interest the audience. Explain why the presenter(s) finds the
subject interesting. Convey enthusiasm when explaining how it was determined what the best

It became a disruptive technology that changed the world’s landscape and brought about the information age and globalization. At first, the internet was connected by coaxial wire that can travel long distance. Today, most advance countries citizens enjoy wireless Internet in their own home. Does media reflect culture or does it create culture?
For the final assessment, you will be examining this question through the lens of a specific media channel of your choice. This media channel may come from new media, legacy media, or residual media.
Communication, in the broadest terms, encompasses all media channels through which information is exchanged. That information can be exchanged in a myriad of ways or channels. As technology has progressed, we have seen the advent of the internet and all the communicative tools available through it. These digital, largely internet-based tools are called “new media.”
While investigating new media, you may also ask what qualifies as old media, which is referred to as legacy media or traditional media by communication professionals. This, in turn, will lead you to investigate residual media as well. In the briefest of terms, legacy media refers to books, magazines, cable TV, newspapers, and movies. Residual media refers to film and film cameras, vinyl LPs and record players, radio, and hand-written letters. For this project you will have the choice of working with media from any of these three categories: new media, residual media, or legacy media.
Once you have selected your media channel, you will examine how it reflects culture and society, and how it creates culture and society. It is important to examine both sides of this debate. For example, you could investigate how online dating (a form of social media that falls in the new media category) reflects our culture and society, but has also created a culture around itself. Another example would be to investigate how the vinyl LP (a residual media) was created by a culture and its needs, but has also created a culture around itself. A third example would be to investigate reality television (a form of television that is legacy media). In what ways did our culture create reality television, and in what ways has reality television formed a culture in itself?
The project is divided into two milestones, which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final submissions. These milestones will be submitted in Modules Two and Four. The final product will be submitted in Module Five.

Does media reflect culture or does it create culture?
For the final assessment, you will be examining this question through the lens of a specific media channel of your choice. This media channel may come from new media, legacy media, or residual media.
Communication, in the broadest terms, encompasses all media channels through which information is exchanged. That information can be exchanged in a myriad of ways or channels. As technology has progressed, we have seen the advent of the internet and all the communicative tools available through it. These digital, largely internet-based tools are called “new media.”
While investigating new media, you may also ask what qualifies as old media, which is referred to as legacy media or traditional media by communication professionals. This, in turn, will lead you to investigate residual media as well. In the briefest of terms, legacy media refers to books, magazines, cable TV, newspapers, and movies. Residual media refers to film and film cameras, vinyl LPs and record players, radio, and hand-written letters. For this project you will have the choice of working with media from any of these three categories: new media, residual media, or legacy media.
Once you have selected your media channel, you will examine how it reflects culture and society, and how it creates culture and society. It is important to examine both sides of this debate. For example, you could investigate how online dating (a form of social media that falls in the new media category) reflects our culture and society, but has also created a culture around itself. Another example would be to investigate how the vinyl LP (a residual media) was created by a culture and its needs, but has also created a culture around itself. A third example would be to investigate reality television (a form of television that is legacy media). In what ways did our culture create reality television, and in what ways has reality television formed a culture in itself?
The project is divided into two milestones, which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final submissions. These milestones will be submitted in Modules Two and Four. The final product will be submitted in Module Five.

Each part of the United States has at least one ecological crisis based on location, biome, and industrialization pattern. For example, the Midwest was once a prairie with very fertile soil. However, when people realized that with the right watering and drainage system this area could become productive farmland, there arose ecological problems. The conversion of the prairie to farmland is the root cause of many ecological problems in this region.
Regardless of what biome you consider, humans have likely had an impact on the ecology of that area.

In late adulthood, most people engage in a process of life review. They recall their life histories and recount them to others as well. As people review the important events from their lives, they create a picture of their lives as an integrated whole. The last stage of Erikson’s theory is called ego integrity versus despair. As people complete their life reviews, they may feel a sense of integrity. This means they look back upon their lives with a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. Others may have a sense of despair. Many people fear and dread the late adulthood stage of life because they believe what awaits them is ill health and cognitive decline. While that description fits some adults in later life, it certainly does not describe them all. Organizational behavior (OB) is the study of individuals and their behavior within an organization. It is an interdisciplinary field that includes sociology, psychology, communication and management. (Cornell University Library Guides, 2011) Organizations are referred to as a group of people that share a common purpose within the same environment. Organizational behavior therefore refers to how groups of people behave within the organization due to the changes in culture with each stage of the business.
Power is the ability to make things happen, as you want them to through a person, team or organization. It can be getting anyone to do what you want done. However, influence is the possession of what you have when power is exercised. (Organizational Behavior, 2003)

There is no universal agreed-upon definition of terrorism. Terrorism means different things to different people, governments, and organizations based upon context.

Summarize, with citations, at least four different definitions of terrorism.

: The definitions must come from sources such as U.S. government agencies (e.g., FBI, DOJ, CIA, DOD, DHS, DOS, DIA, NSA, etc.), international agencies and / or foreign governments (e.g. United Nations, England, Israel, etc.), or terrorism experts (e.g. Bruce Hoffman, Walter Laqueur, Brian Jenkins, Paul Pillar, etc.).
Compare and contrast two of the four definitions summarized in Question 1. Provide a rationale for the differences between the two definitions based upon the context of the people, governments, and / or organizations that developed the definition.

Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing.
