College students are gaining weight due to unhealthy lifestyles, eating habits, and relationships with food. Unhealthy habits include not eating enough fruits and vegetables and consuming too many sugary drinks. Unhealthy relationships with food can involve distorted perceptions of eating and damage self-esteem. Obesity increases risks for health conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, and cancer.
