Importance of obeying the Messenger (saw)?
 "You have a good model in the Messenger of Allah for one who hopes for Allah
and the Last Day." [Al-Qur'an 33:21]
 "On the day when their faces are turned over in the Fire, they will say,
'Would that we had obeyed Allah and that we had obeyed the Messenger.‘ "
[Al-Qur'an 33:66]

5. 2. Obey ‘ulil ‘amr’ – those in authority
Who is included in ‘ulil ‘amr’?
 Lexically  those in whose hands lies the management and administration of
something.
 Commentators  includes scholars, jurists, officials, rulers.
 Includes leadership in organizations.
Why is it important to follow our leaders?
 Hadith: “Hear & obey your leaders, even if an Ethiopian slave whose head is
like a raisin, is made your chief” (fath-al-baari 13:130).
 In another narration “even if an Ethiopian slave, whose nose was mutilated”
(Muslim)
