The OERu: sharing, collaborating and educatingwitthaus
This document discusses the potential for open educational resources (OER) and online learning to provide universal access to higher education. It outlines how OER began with early initiatives like MIT's OpenCourseWare and the UK Open University's OpenLearn platform. Enrollments increased, showing demand for open models. The OER movement grew through collaborations and the Cape Town Declaration. Recent projects like the UKOER and TOUCANS study explore using OER across institutions for accredited degrees through the proposed OER university (OERu). While challenges remain around curriculum, assessment, accreditation and business models, open education could help the 100 million adults unable to afford traditional university achieve higher education.

Open Prototyping - An early stage process modelDrew Hemment
An early stage process model for open prototyping – Version 1.0.
FutureEverything has developed a model we call open prototyping. Our labs create concepts and prototypes that spark imagination and ask questions about the implications of new technology. Ideas can then be demonstrated at the scale of a city through our festival.
Open prototyping is to develop and test a concept or process through input of external contributors. Our projects are open to many contributors and also are often made with a public audience in mind. They benefit from the co-creation of many external contributors and the interface to a real public.

The document provides information for attendees of the upcoming Worldwide Partner Conference in New Orleans from July 12-16. It includes an overview of registration numbers, activities planned each day of the conference, and logistical details. Key points include that over 4,800 partners registered from 109 countries, there will be 350 sessions on various topics over the 4 days, and evenings will include activities like a river cruise and swamp tour to experience local culture.
The Jakarta Vertical Kampung event was a 12-day workshop and conference that explored designing high-density vertical housing in Jakarta while maintaining kampung community ideals. The workshop divided participants into 6 groups to design housing for different sites in Jakarta, including a site in Semanan that was mostly agricultural land. However, the designs focused more on meeting government requirements than preserving agriculture. Experts criticized the designs for not adequately reflecting kampung culture and community. While the event provided valuable insights, the designs could have better balanced density, affordability, and kampung traditions.

The document summarizes the 2011 Los Angeles Institute for Social Innovation hosted by StartingBloc. Over five days, 80 candidates from over 25 states and 7 countries gathered to learn skills in areas like entrepreneurship, cross-sector partnerships, and sustainability. The agenda included sessions led by experts on topics such as transformative action, corporate social responsibility, and investing in sustainability. Fellows also participated in activities to develop their ideas and pitches through competitions and peer feedback sessions. The document discusses feedback received on a marketing advertisement from various social media platforms and classmates. The feedback noted that the original ad text was not very readable and using color boxes made it too flat. Additional revisions added brighter colors, but it began to look like a pride logo and lost the intended grungy image. Further adjustments made the text stand out more but reduced the high contrast feel of the original image. The final version used a rainbow effect on the font to convey a nightclub feel while keeping the grunge look.
The document discusses how the media project uses documentary codes and conventions to both develop standard forms and challenge conventions. It analyzes the use of interviews, narration, cutaways, music, and real footage to tell the story and convey emotion. The project aims to relate to its target audience while also confronting them with hard facts through innovative techniques.
The document discusses feedback received from audiences of a documentary film. Methods used to collect feedback included focus groups, social media on Facebook, and questionnaires. Feedback from Facebook indicated that the target audience of teenagers/young adults liked the color scheme and text used in promotional materials. However, some noted grammatical errors and readability issues with the top tagline. Questionnaires administered after viewing found that audiences enjoyed and understood the documentary, though some interviews could have been shortened. Half the audience reported learning something new, while suggestions for improvement included editing down the teacher interview. Overall, the film was well-received though some areas were difficult to hear or read.
This document discusses developing a double page spread for a documentary. It notes that the current left page looks too much like an advertisement and does not incorporate the author's research on similar spreads. The author proposes redesigning the spread to have a presenter image in the center with a black and white branding image covering the entire double page that matches the film's theme and uses symbolic elements to represent its message. A tagline and sentence are also recommended to better explain and promote the documentary.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive function. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help protect against mental illness and improve symptoms.
Smartme Analytics monitors mobile devices to understand how consumers use smartphones. They found that smartphone users spend 1 hour and 1 minute per day using apps, preferring WiFi over 3G data. Usage varies by operator, gender, age and other factors - for example, women use social media more than men, and gaming popularity depends on age and gender. The report provides insights about app usage patterns in areas like social media, gaming and shopping.
NETFLIX: Cultura de Responsabilidad y LibertadBrenda Treviño
The document discusses Netflix's company culture, which focuses on high performance and values like judgment, communication, impact, curiosity, innovation, courage, passion, honesty, and selflessness. Netflix aims to attract and retain only top talent, believing the best employees are 10x more productive than average ones. Dealerships will remain an important touchpoint for customers during the car buying process, as most customers still want to test drive a vehicle before purchasing. However, changing customer behaviors and new technologies are challenging the traditional dealership model. To adapt, dealerships will need to transform into modern, multichannel sales networks that combine online and offline experiences. This involves introducing new retail formats, technologies, and optimizing existing dealership networks. Those who do not change may struggle. Successfully transforming will improve the customer experience and increase returns for dealerships.

Using social science and design methods for social changeMuryani Kasdani
Did you know that design methods can be used to social problems, not just to create beautiful campaign and functional products? Slide through what we in InWithForward have learned in blending design methods and social science in the social context, with people in their homes, staff workers in social service and government agencies.
This slide deck also touched on designing social welfare for a context like Indonesia. The question that we ask ourselves is: how would it look like if we bring this method to a developing country like Indonesia? Is it ready for a social welfare system that looks more like a trampoline and less like a safety net.

How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.
