3. INTRODUCTION
God does all things for His glory.
Therefore, God rules the world in such
a way that brings Himself maximum
glory. This means that God must act
justly and judge sin, otherwise God
would not be God. While God is by
nature love, His justice demands that
He must punish sin. The punishment
is called the wrath of God.
4. OVERVIEW
God’s wrath can be defined as His
righteous indignation and reaction
toward sin. It is manifested in the
form of punishment. In the Bible God’s
wrath is portrayed as the divine
judgment upon sin and sinners. It is
not just a casual response by God to
ungodliness, but carries the meaning
of hatred, revulsion and anger.
5. The word wrath is recorded nearly
200 times in the King James Version
of the Bible. The Hebrew word has the
idea of flaring of the nostrils, which is
an emotion for fury in anger. In the
Greek, the word implies a violent
passion, which results in justifiable
punishment. In the New Testament,
the word is used more than 20 times
and is translated as God’s wrath,
either present or future.
6. 4 BIBLICAL TRUTHS ABOUT
GOD’S WRATH
1. It is JUST – it is in proportion to the
degree of human sinfulness
2. It is CONSISTENT – it is demonstrated
in the Old and New Testament
3. It is SATISFIED – Christ Jesus took the
punishment for believers
4. It is to be FEARED - God promises
eternal punishment for those who do not
believe
