2. This year is devoted to understanding
and learning more about worship. We
will have a different focus each month,
but the main emphasis will be learning
how God wants us to worship Him. This
month our focus will be “Advent
Worship.” The word Advent refers to the
season observed in many Christian
churches as a time of expectant waiting
and preparation for the celebration of
the incarnation.
3. In Christian theology, the doctrine of
the Incarnation is the belief that Jesus,
the pre-existent divine Logos (Greek for
"Word"), God the Son, took on a human
body and human nature. The WORD
“emptied” Himself of His Divine glory
and poured Himself into the form of a
man. The WORD "was made flesh" and
conceived in the womb of a young
virgin named Mary by God the Spirit.
4. The Advent season consists of worship
celebration for the three Sundays,
leading up to Christmas Day. There are
many aspects involved in this time of
celebration, such as hanging wreaths
and candle lighting services, but at the
the heart of Advent is worship. It is
more than a one day affair; it is a
season of worship. It is a “kat-ar-tizo”
act of honor (appropriate).
5. Final Word
The Bible is consistent in demonstrating
that it is appropriate for Christians to
respond to the birth of Jesus with
worship. The shepherds left their sheep
to worship Him. The Magi's (wise men)
left their country to worship Him. What
will you do this Advent season to worship
Him?
