forgjeves.
22 For det gir først og fremst
provokasjon ved ord; da styrker den ved
gjerninger den som er sint, og med store
tap forstyrrer hans sinn og vekker hans
sjel med stor vrede.
23 Derfor, når noen. taler mot eder, bli
ikke vred på eder, og dersom noen
priser eder som hellige mennesker, så
vær ikke oppløftet!
24 For først behager det hørelsen, og så
gjør det sinnet ivrig etter å oppfatte
grunnen til provokasjon; og så blir han
sint og tror at han med rette er sint.
25 Hvis dere faller i tap eller
ødeleggelse, mine barn, vær ikke plaget!
For nettopp denne ånden får et
menneske til å begjære det
forgjengelige, for at det kan bli rasende
over lidelsen.
26 Og hvis dere lider tap frivillig eller
ufrivillig, så vær ikke irritert! for av
vrede oppstår vrede med løgn.
27 Dessuten er en todelt ugjerning
vrede ved løgn; og de hjelper hverandre
for å forstyrre hjertet; og når sjelen
stadig blir forstyrret, går Herren bort fra
den, og Beliar hersker over den.
KAPITTEL 2
En profeti om nasjonens synder,
fangenskap, plager og endelig
gjenreisning. De snakker fortsatt om
Eden (se vers 18). Vers 23 er
bemerkelsesverdig i lys av profetiene.
1 Følg derfor, mine barn, Herrens bud,
og hold hans lov. gå bort fra vreden og
hat løgnen, så Herren kan bo iblant dere,
og Beliar kan flykte fra dere.
2 Tal sannhet hver med sin neste. Så
skal dere ikke falle i vrede og forvirring;
men dere skal være i fred og ha fredens
Gud, så ingen krig skal vinne over dere.
3 Elsk Herren gjennom hele deres liv,
og hverandre av et sant hjerte.
4 Jeg vet at i de siste dager skal dere
vike fra Herren, og dere skal vekke Levi
til harme og kjempe mot Juda. men dere
skal ikke overvinne dem, for en Herrens
engel skal veilede dem begge. for ved
dem skal Israel stå.
5 Og hver gang dere går bort fra Herren,
skal dere vandre i all ondskap og gjøre

4. ulydige hjerter til Herren og gi dem som
kaller på ham evig fred.
12 Og de hellige skal hvile i Eden, og i
det nye Jerusalem skal de rettferdige
glede seg, og det skal være til Guds ære
for alltid.
13 Og Jerusalem skal ikke lenger
utholdes øde, og Israel skal ikke føres
til fange; for Herren skal være midt i
den, og Israels Hellige skal være konge
over den i ydmykhet og fattigdom. og
den som tror på ham, skal herske blant
mennesker i sannhet.
14 Og nå, frykt Herren, mine barn, og
vokt dere for Satan og hans ånder.
15 Kom nær til Gud og engelen som går
i forbønn for dere, for han er en
mellommann mellom Gud og
mennesker, og for Israels fred skal han
stå opp mot fiendens rike.
16 Derfor er fienden ivrig etter å
utrydde alle som påkaller Herren.
17 For han vet at på den dag Israel skal
omvende seg, skal fiendens rike bli
gjort til ende.
18 For selve fredens engel skal styrke
Israel, så det ikke faller i det ondes
ytterste.
19 Og det skal være i Israels
lovløshetstid, at Herren ikke skal vike
fra dem, men forvandle dem til et folk
som gjør hans vilje, for ingen av
englene skal være ham like.
20 Og hans navn skal være på hvert sted
i Israel og blant hedningene.
21 Hold derfor dere selv, mine barn, fra
all ond gjerning, og kast bort vrede og
all løgn, og elsk sannhet og
langmodighet.
22 Og det dere har hørt fra deres far, del
også dere til deres barn, så hedningenes
Frelser kan ta imot dere. for han er sann
og langmodig, saktmodig og ydmyk, og
han lærer ved sine gjerninger Guds lov.
23 Vik derfor bort fra all urettferdighet
og hold deg til Guds rettferdighet, så
skal deres slekt bli frelst for alltid.
24 Og begrav meg nær mine fedre.
25 Og da han hadde sagt dette, kysset
han dem og sovnet i god alderdom.
26 Og sønnene hans begravde ham, og
deretter bar de hans ben opp og satte
dem nær Abraham og Isak og Jakob.
27 Likevel profeterte Dan for dem at de
skulle glemme sin Gud og bli
fremmedgjort fra deres arveland og fra
Israels slekt og fra deres ætt.
