AMERICAN RELIGION
GRoup #1
Protestant Evangelicals
Evangelical churches and religious groups are rooted in the
eighteenth-century Protestant Renaissance movement, a
period of intense religious activity, especially in the United
States and England.
Catholics
The United States has the third largest Catholic
population in the world (after Brazil and Mexico).
Catholicism is the traditional religion of most Americans
of Latin, Italian, Irish and Polish origin. The Religious
Panorama Survey indicates that "the Catholic proportion
of the adult population in the United States has remained
constant in recent decades, by about 25 percent."
PROTESTANT CHRISTIANS
(EVANGELICAL) AND CATHOLICS
Between 2007 and 2012, the proportion of
adults who identify themselves as Christians
has fallen from 78% to 73% and within them
the percentage of those who declare
themselves from a protestant church has
dropped from 53% to 48% .
Statistics
Although Jews have been established in the United States
since the time of the Colonies, most came from Germany
and Eastern Europe in the nineteenth century, bringing
with them various religious customs and forms of piety
characteristic of these regions.
 8% of New York residents are
Jewish, followed by Boston
with 6% and Miami with 5%,
according to the data.
Philadelphia and San Francisco
have a population of 4% that is
Jewish, and Chicago and
Washington 3%
The Mormon Church, officially known as the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was founded in the
state of New York in 1830. According to its founder, Joseph
Smith, the angel Moroni gave him the Golden Tables
containing The Book of Mormon, which together with the
Bible is the basis of the Mormon religion.
The first Muslim in North America that history records,
was the early Spanish explorer of the XIV century Berber
origin, Estevanan of Azamor. Historical records also show
that many African slaves who were brought to the
American continent were probably Muslim.
The American Religious Identification
Survey 2001 conducted by the Graduate
Center of the City University of New
York asked more than 50,000 people and
found that the total American Muslim
population is 1.8 million.
Americans were first exposed to Buddhism after
the California Gold Rush, when large numbers of
Chinese immigrants began arriving in the United
States. The first Buddhist temple was built in San
Francisco in 1853.

AMERICAN FOOD
GROUP #2
 CHINESE-
AMERICAN CUISINE
Chinese-American cuisine is a type of fusion
cuisine that comes from Chinese immigrants who
traveled to the United States and North America
during the nineteenth century.
•This cuisine evolved into tastes and
ingredients to the extent that dishes
served in certain restaurants Chinese
people in the United States reached their
own entity.
• In this process of adaptation, cooks
invented dishes such as the General Tso
chicken designed in New York. As a
result, they developed a style of Chinese
food that is not present in China.
 French american cuisine
• The gastronomy of France is considered as one of the most
important in the world. It is characterized by its variety, fruit of
the French regional diversity, both cultural and raw materials, but
also by its refinement.1 2 Its influence is felt in almost all the
cuisines of the Western world, which have been incorporating
knowledge bases Technicians of French cuisine.
• Traditionally, each region has its own kitchen:
Northwest cuisine uses butter, crème fraîche and
apple;
• Southwest cuisine uses oil, duck fat, foie gras,
mushrooms and wine;
• The cuisine of the southeast is characterized by
Italian influences and is served with the olive, the
fine herbs and the tomato;
• North cuisine is characterized by Belgian
influences and is served from potato, pork, beans
and beer;
• The cuisine of the east, characterized by German
influences, is served from bacon, sausages, beer
and sauerkraut.
 ITALIAN-AMERICAN CUISINE
Italian-American cuisine is a style of Italian cuisine adapted throughout
the United States of America. Italian-American food has been shaped
throughout history by various waves of immigrants and their
descendants, called Italian Americans. As immigrants from the
different regions of Italy settled throughout the various regions of the
United States, many brought with them a distinct regional Italian
culinary tradition. Many of these foods and recipes developed into
new favorites for the townspeople and later for Americans nationwide.
1. PEPPERONI PIZZA
• The pizza originated in Italy, but has been appropriated by the
Americans as a favorite dish. But depending on where you are, the style
of your za (an abbreviation for pizza in English) can vary a lot. For
example, New York pizza has a thin crust while Chicago pizza is made
with thick bread, and is known as deep dish in English. There are a
variety of ingredients that can be put to the pizza, but the most
popular in the United States is the pepperoni.
2. LASAGNE
• Lasagne are wide, flat-shaped pasta, and possibly one of the
oldest types of pasta. The word "lasagne", and, in American
English, the singular "lasagna", can also refer to a dish made
with several layers of lasagne sheets alternated with sauces
and various other ingredients
3. MAC N CHEESE
• Mac n 'cheese is the abbreviated form of macaroni and cheese, a typical
pasta dish of macaroni and cheese. The mac n 'cheese is easy to
prepare, especially if the box beams. All you have to do is boil the pasta,
mix the ingredients with the dehydrated cheese package and in less than
10 minutes is ready. For this reason, it is impossible to find an American
who has not eaten mac n 'cheese in his childhood. Cheese pasta is so
popular that July 14 is the national day of mac n 'cheese in the US.
 GUATEMALA- AMERICAN CUISINE
In the United states they sell some
Guatemalan dishes that are rich
and we have some dishes like the
kak’ik and the tortillas of cassava.
LUNCH AND DINNER
Guatemala food is influenced by it’s Mayan roots and
primarily is based on corn, beans rice. Some popular
Guatemala dishes include chiles relenos which is chile
peppers stuffed with rice, cheese, meat and vegetables,
chicken pepian, which is chicken spiced with pumpkin
and sesame sauce, and kak’ik, a traditional Mayan
turkey soup, with chili peppers.
DESSERTS
Traditional dessets in Guatemala include pastel
de Banano, a rich banana cake, tortillas de
yuca, a latke- type potato pankake made out
of yuca. Popular desserts in the region, like
arroz con leche, are also common.
 ALEMANA- AMERICAN CUISINE
• From the strips of meat cooked under the saddles of the
Mongolian horses, until the creation of the Big Mac index used
to measure a country's economic competitiveness, our beloved
Burger has conquered kilometers, stomachs and hearts.
BUT WHAT IS ITS ORIGIN?
• Many are those who compete for the invention of this snack or
sandwich of chopped meat. Tracing its more remote origin, in the
Times Roman, in the time of Emperor Tiberius, are references to
the "Isicia omentata", an easily transportable dish for legions,
composed of a mixture of minced meat, wine white, bread, grains
of pepper and pine nuts.
In the middle ages, the mongol Emperor Genghis Khan extended
"hamburgueseras" borders to Russia and Ukraine.
• Trade led to these "prehamburguesas"
to Hamburg, the biggest port of the old
continent, where refined the recipe by
introducing egg to the original mix for
mincemeat. Starting point to the
Americas, from there traveled to the
premises of the port of New York, where
they began to serve "steaks Hamburg-
style" and to become popular among the
immigrants settled in the Valley of the
River.
The truth is that it is not clear. There are
several U.S. regions who take the
invention. Among others, the city of
Hamburg, in New York, which claims to
the he invented this "meat sandwich",
that was precisely this which gave name
the city.
The dishes are very consumed in the United
States and these are traditional dishes
because they represent the independence of
the Fourth of July..

United States was born in the beginning as an imitation of the
European, especially English, dramatic tradition. However, he
soon acquired a tone of his own that would reach its peak in the
twentieth century, with the Nobel Prize of 1936, Eugene O'Neill
(1888-1953) and other writers of the stature of Tenesee Williams
(1911-1983 ). Today, the United States is the most important
