been left on the hands of social
workers or volunteers who

blind person
OBJECTIVE
• To establish learning support of visually challenged
students which will have computer assisted reading
facilities.
• To ensure about different Braille software and there
services.
• To promote learning for both Braille person and low
vision person.
• To promote Braille software.
• To understand different challenges face by Braille
users when the read any books and documents.
• Barrier that may face by the
Braille users:
Physical barrier
Communication barrier
Architectural barrier
Physical barrier
 The major problem for low vision person is mobility. Due
to low vision or blindness user can’t use the proper
services of a library.
 Visual Obstacle
 Without support braille user can’t find proper
information.
Communication barrier
Proper communication and
oral guidance was needed for
braille user and sometime
library staff fails to provide

for braille users.
 Library may forget to placed
handrails on walkways, ramp
and staircases.
 Fails to provide audio signals
near the entrance.
Software and services for Braille person :
 JAWS pro talking software: Software made after converted
the normal PC into talking PC that help the blind person to
operate computer freely or independently.
 Kurzweli 1000 OCR reading software: It is the combination
of scanner and a PC. It help to read printed documents.
 Magic magnification software PRO: : It help to enlarging the
screen from 2X to 16X.
 Talking typing teacher pro: It was basically designed for the
low vision user as well as blind user with complete practice and
guidance lesson for improving keyboarding skill and also
develops typing speed.
Braille scanning software– OBR (optical Braille recognition): OBR is
a window software program that allow blind user to read single or double
slide Braille documents on a A4 scanner.
Prisma magnification device for low vision: It is a compact full color
electronic magnification device with attached T.V simply help enlarging
the text.
Zoom-Ex instant text reader: It is a small, easily uses device that uses
new generation motion sensor technology in combination with its
proprietary Zoom office software for instant scanning and reading of text.
Index basic D Braille Embosser: It is a low cost, high speed, double
sided tractor feed continuous sheet with new generation Braille embosser
technology.
Freedom Scientifics’ SARA : SARA means Scanning and reading
appliances. It used for scanning documents (like book, mail, newspaper

Images of Different software
Services for Braille person or users
 software for reading and listening library books and
different type of document.
 Computer Training to the Braille users for Independent
Access of Computers.
 Braille software help to covert normal PC into Talking
PC.
 Help to scan the documents and books for reading
purposes.
 Braille software help to convert normal text to Braille
notation for the Braille users.
NEEDS AND IMPORTANCE OF BRAILLE SOFTWARE:
1. Braille user have a right to pursue education and
learning.
2. Braille software increase readability percentage among
the Braille person.
3. One thing is important that Braille software has been
updated time to time for the increase of better services
for visually impaired person.
4. Proper library professional is needed to handle the
Braille software
MERITS AND DEMERITS
Merits :
1. Easy and helpful learning for the Braille user.
2. Emphasizing time on task.
3. Promote Braille software for the library.
4. Positive attitude of the library staff with visually impaired person.
Demerits:
1. Implication cost is high.
2. Lack of cooperation between staff and user.
3. Modification of Braille software is very difficult.
4. Breakdown of Braille software due to high overload.
CHALLENGE TO LIBRARY PROFESSIONAL FOR INTEGRATION
First, is the current library professionals' uncritical
acceptance of market driven management style and
commercialization of information in libraries.
Second, is poorly prepared library professionals who
have limited knowledge and experience of disabilities
and disabled people.
Conclusion
The overall study on this paper and conclude that the
ICT provides opportunities for librarians to complete the
services for the disabled into the mainstream of their
services.
It means that any person should be able to visit the
library and receive access to their software services
directly or indirectly, to information and reading
resources in accessible formats.
