Nikola Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor born in 1856 in Croatia who made many contributions to the development of modern electrical infrastructure. Some of his most notable accomplishments included helping Thomas Edison with his machines, inventing technologies like wireless communication and alternating current, and building the first hydroelectric plant at Niagara Falls. Despite his many inventions, Tesla died alone in a New York City hotel in 1943 with little recognition for his work.
