Evidence-based researched data to indicate there is a problem
Terrorism is considered a historical and major problem for the U.S. Since 2001, the significance of the problem has increased. Therefore, several organizations and facilities collect and store terrorism data for events like attempted and occurred activities. The main data source for terrorism activities is the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The mandate of this arm of government is to protect Americans both in locally and internationally against crime activities but terrorism seems the greatest enemy of American citizen wherever they are in the world.
Numerous and most useful data for terrorism is found from the following federal agency and private databases:
· The National Security Agency (NSA)
· Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
· National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Response to Terrorism (NCSTRT) and
· Global Terrorism Database (GTD). (FBI, 2014; GTD, 2014)
Information from the above databases are analyzed to present diverse quantitative and qualitative terrorism data that cover several years including life threats to the U.S. soil. According to these databases, terrorism is an old problem and continues to intensify due to availability of uninterrupted new technology as well as growing financial power of their organizations. The Federal Agencies data bases provide information on terrorism activities and information on several strategies that have been used in the past and are currently used to curb the vice (FBI, 2014).
The other terrorist’s data sources are the media agencies. News agencies such as online newspapers and broadcasting corporations provide terrorism data as it occurs. Although these agencies might not provide analyzed data, their role is to increase public awareness about terrorism occurrences and development.

This report serves as an accountability tool, which provides community residents feedback on the effectiveness, mandate, policies and activities of Niger Delta Institutions. Thus, it amplifies voices of community residents to a wider audience, which will help place them at the center of the policy discourse on decisions that affect their lives.

This paper explores the relationship between security and development, with a focus on how different types of violence inhibit development in fragile and conflict-affected states.
This paper is based upon a comprehensive literature review of separate pieces of research including academic studies, datasets and policy analysis. It explores statistics and figures that illustrate the barriers that insecurity poses to achieving development outcomes in fragile and conflict-afflicted states. It also examines these dynamics in detail in four countries: Afghanistan, Solomon Islands, South Sudan and Timor-Leste.
The assignment was not to come up with policy recommendations per se; rather it was to present a comprehensive synopsis of how different types of violence shackles and inhibits development in fragile and conflict-affected states. The research team believes that the material presented will be of use to inform policy debate and development, including in the field of security sector reform.
The analysis is contextualised by focusing on three types of violence: political, criminal and interpersonal. The barriers these different types of violence pose to development is presented throughout the report, and embedded in the country case studies.
The statistics uncovered in the course of the project are stark and unnerving. These statistics, among others, are used to highlight the barriers that different types of violence pose to development. It is not only the financial cost, but also the broader institutional and social costs that generate a series of barriers for meaningful development. For this project, you will assume the role of an Intelligence Analyst assigned to a State
Fusion Center. A Fusion Center is a collaborative effort of multiple agencies that provide

prevent, investigate, and respond to criminal and terrorist activity. Fusion centers conduct
analysis and facilitate information sharing to assist law enforcement and homeland security
partners in preventing, protecting against, and responding to crime and terrorism. State and
major urban area fusion centers serve as primary focal points for the receipt, analysis,
gathering, and sharing of threat-related information among federal, state, local, tribal, and
territorial (SLTT) partners. Fusion centers are located in states and major urban areas
throughout the country and are uniquely situated to enable law enforcement personnel to
gather and share threat-related information.
Given certain trend information, in your intelligence analyst role you have been tasked with
gathering specific information regarding specific past attacks by Al Qaeda. You will note the
majority of listed incidents appear to have occurred during the six months and in the
immediate eight week period preceding the biennial elections. Gathering and collecting
covers the acquisition of raw information through activities such as interviews of confidential
and other sources, surveillances, intercepts, forensics, and liaison relationships. Information
can be gathered from open sources and other more sophisticated sources. You are being
requested to use open sources for this assignment. Open source intelligence is publicly
available and accessible information appearing in electronic or print form and includes radio,
television, newspapers, journals, the internet, commercial databases, drawings, graphics,

These threats to public safety and regional security have greatly undermined the governments primary responsibility of guaranteeing public safety and national security. This work, therefore, is on the prognosis of theories of intelligence in counterterrorism The case of North Western Nigeria. The study utilised primary and secondary data sources. The Primary data sources were from questionnaires administered physically and electronically via emails while, secondary data came from published books, journals, articles, lecture guides and videos. Acquired data were statistically analysed using simple percentage and Chi Square statistics. Sequel to the statistical results, findings revealed that there is a significant relationship between intelligence gathering and terrorism in Nort West, Nigeria. The study recommends that there should be training and retraining of personnel of the intelligence community to be able to meet up with the current trends and changes in the contemporary Nigerian environments for the effective gathering of intelligence and the ability to utilize it for productive law enforcement. From May through July 2015, with support from USAID/PIND, a team from LITE/Africa and ANEEJ program officers carried out 96 focus group discussions and 44 interviews with 845 community residents in 24 communities, 8 local government areas and four states of Cross River, Delta, Edo and Ondo States, all in the Niger Delta. This report serves as an accountability tool, which provides community residents feedback on the effectiveness, mandate, policies and activities of Niger Delta Institutions. Thus, it amplifies voices of community residents to a wider audience, which will help place them at the center of the policy discourse on decisions that affect their lives.

This paper explores the relationship between security and development, with a focus on how different types of violence inhibit development in fragile and conflict-affected states.
This paper is based upon a comprehensive literature review of separate pieces of research including academic studies, datasets and policy analysis. It explores statistics and figures that illustrate the barriers that insecurity poses to achieving development outcomes in fragile and conflict-afflicted states. It also examines these dynamics in detail in four countries: Afghanistan, Solomon Islands, South Sudan and Timor-Leste.
The assignment was not to come up with policy recommendations per se; rather it was to present a comprehensive synopsis of how different types of violence shackles and inhibits development in fragile and conflict-affected states. The research team believes that the material presented will be of use to inform policy debate and development, including in the field of security sector reform.
The analysis is contextualised by focusing on three types of violence: political, criminal and interpersonal. The barriers these different types of violence pose to development is presented throughout the report, and embedded in the country case studies.
The statistics uncovered in the course of the project are stark and unnerving. These statistics, among others, are used to highlight the barriers that different types of violence pose to development. It is not only the financial cost, but also the broader institutional and social costs that generate a series of barriers for meaningful development. analysis and facilitate information sharing to assist law enforcement and homeland security

major urban area fusion centers serve as primary focal points for the receipt, analysis,
gathering, and sharing of threat-related information among federal, state, local, tribal, and
territorial (SLTT) partners. Fusion centers are located in states and major urban areas
throughout the country and are uniquely situated to enable law enforcement personnel to
gather and share threat-related information.
Given certain trend information, in your intelligence analyst role you have been tasked with
gathering specific information regarding specific past attacks by Al Qaeda. You will note the
majority of listed incidents appear to have occurred during the six months and in the
immediate eight week period preceding the biennial elections. Gathering and collecting
covers the acquisition of raw information through activities such as interviews of confidential
and other sources, surveillances, intercepts, forensics, and liaison relationships. Information

Border towns and spaces of (in)visibility.pdf
This report explores the significance of border towns and spaces for strengthening responses to young people on the move. In particular it explores the linkages of young people to local service centres with the aim of further developing service, protection, and support strategies for migrant children in border areas across the region. The report is based on a small-scale fieldwork study in the border towns of Chipata and Katete in Zambia conducted in July 2023. Border towns and spaces provide a rich source of information about issues related to the informal or irregular movement of young people across borders, including smuggling and trafficking. They can help build a picture of the nature and scope of the type of movement young migrants undertake and also the forms of protection available to them. Border towns and spaces also provide a lens through which we can better understand the vulnerabilities of young people on the move and, critically, the strategies they use to navigate challenges and access support.
The findings in this report highlight some of the key factors shaping the experiences and vulnerabilities of young people on the move – particularly their proximity to border spaces and how this affects the risks that they face. The report describes strategies that young people on the move employ to remain below the radar of visibility to state and non-state actors due to fear of arrest, detention, and deportation while also trying to keep themselves safe and access support in border towns. These strategies of (in)visibility provide a way to protect themselves yet at the same time also heighten some of the risks young people face as their vulnerabilities are not always recognised by those who could offer support.
In this report we show that the realities and challenges of life and migration in this region and in Zambia need to be better understood for support to be strengthened and tuned to meet the specific needs of young people on the move. This includes understanding the role of state and non-state stakeholders, the impact of laws and policies and, critically, the experiences of the young people themselves. We provide recommendations for immediate action, recommendations for programming to support young people on the move in the two towns that would reduce risk for young people in this area, and recommendations for longer term policy advocacy.

- 1. The Peace Map brings together all available sources on peace and conflict to one platform. It enables users (public sector, private sector, civil society, development actors, and community representatives) to better understand the conflict landscape and peace and security architecture for the promotion of peace and conflict sensitivity in the Niger Delta Region. The Peace Map is highly interactive, allowing the user to test hypotheses and relationships between dozens of indicators and to juxtapose areas of conflict risk against the locations of self-identified Peace Agents, categorized by focus area. Organizations that register as Peace Agents can network and receive alerts when there is a spike in conflict risk factors in their area. PIND uses the Peace Map to produce monthly and quarterly trackers at the state level, for early warning and conflict analysis on the ground, as well as deeper thematic briefs to inform policy and planning.
