IoT is definitely getting popular day-by-day where no company can afford to ignore. Benefits offered by IoT for both B2B and B2C companies are obvious. For many traditional businesses which didn’t come into the digital world (PC era) are now leapfrogging directly into cloud centric IoT era. IoT based based solutions being seriously considered and deployed in traditional industries like chemical manufacturing, water treatment plants, leather manufacturing etc... As time passes, more industries and business are flocking into IoT. These businesses stand to gain benefits in terms of improved operational efficiency, better productivity and better manpower management. Similar advantages are clearly seen in B2C industries as well. Eclipse Edje: A Java API for Microcontrollers
The Eclipse Edje project, initiated by MicroEJ, defines a standard high-level Java API for accessing hardware features delivered by 32-bit microcontrollers for using serial links, general purpose inputs/outputs, or digital/analog converters. MCUs are small, low-cost, low-power processors designed to run software in resource-constrained environments: low memory (typically KB), flash (typically MB) and frequency (typically MHz). MCUs are provided by silicon vendors along with evaluation kits and are typically the ideal vectors for large scale deployments of low-power and cost-effective IoT, embedded or wearable devices. Using Eclipse and Lua for the Internet of Things with Eclipse Koneki, Mihini ...
The Internet of Things (IoT) or Machine to Machine (M2M), is a technological field that will radically change the global network by enabling the communication of virtually every single object with each other. Studies state that more than 50 billions objects may be connected to the Internet by 2020. In a near future, everything from a light bulb to a power plant, from a pacemaker to an hospital, from a car to a road network will be part of the Internet.
While this revolution is already happening (your house or your car may be "connected" already!), there are still lots of barriers to its growth, especially since existing solutions are almost always proprietary, and cannot interoperate easily.
There are several very active M2M initiatives at Eclipse aiming at lowering these barriers, all under the umbrella of the M2M Industry Working Group. Last year, projects Paho (communication protocols for M2M) and Koneki (tools for M2M developers, in particular a complete IDE for Lua development) were created, and in July 2012 project Mihini was proposed to establish Lua as a reference platform for building M2M and IoT solutions.
The purpose of this talk is to give you a clear understanding of the afore mentioned Eclipse projects, as well as to show you that real M2M solutions can already be developed thanks to them. We will briefly introduce the Lua programming language, explain why it is a good fit for embedded M2M development, and then demonstrate the development of an actual working solution making use of the Mihini framework, a Paho MQTT client, and the Koneki tooling. The use case will also leverage Open Hardware such as Arduino and a RaspberryPi, therefore you can expect nice demos!

Studies state that more than 50 billions objects may be connected to the Internet by 2020. In a near future, everything from a light bulb to a power plant, from a pacemaker to an hospital, from a car to a road network will be part of the Internet.
While this revolution is already happening (your house or your car may be "connected" already!), there are still lots of barriers to its growth, especially since existing solutions are almost always proprietary, and cannot interoperate easily.
There are several very active M2M initiatives at Eclipse aiming at lowering these barriers, all under the umbrella of the M2M Industry Working Group. Last year, projects Paho (communication protocols for M2M) and Koneki (tools for M2M developers, in particular a complete IDE for Lua development) were created, and in July 2012 project Mihini was proposed to establish Lua as a reference platform for building M2M and IoT solutions.
The purpose of this talk is to give you a clear understanding of the afore mentioned Eclipse projects, as well as to show you that real M2M solutions can already be developed thanks to them. We will briefly introduce the Lua programming language, explain why it is a good fit for embedded M2M development, and then demonstrate the development of an actual working solution making use of the Mihini framework, a Paho MQTT client, and the Koneki tooling. The use case will also leverage Open Hardware such as Arduino and a RaspberryPi, therefore you can expect nice demos!

IoT architecture
How do APIs and IoT relate? The answer is not as simple as merely adding an API on top of a dumb device, but rather about understanding the architectural patterns for implementing an IoT fabric. There are typically two or three trends:
Exposing the device to a management framework
Exposing that management framework to a business centric logic
Exposing that business layer and data to end users.
This last trend is the IoT stack, which involves a new shift in the separation of what stuff happens, where data lives and where the interface lies. For instance, it's a mix of architectural styles between cloud, APIs and native hardware/software configurations.

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity server
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).

zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.

The expansion of AI services necessitates enhanced computational capabilities on edge devices. Temporal Event Neural Networks (TENNs), developed by BrainChip, represent a novel and highly efficient state-space network. TENNs demonstrate exceptional proficiency in handling multi-dimensional streaming data, facilitating advancements in object detection, action recognition, speech enhancement and language model/sequence generation. Through the utilization of polynomial-based continuous convolutions, TENNs streamline models, expedite training processes and significantly diminish memory requirements, achieving notable reductions of up to 50x in parameters and 5,000x in energy consumption compared to prevailing methodologies like transformers.
