The students completed lessons in various subjects this month. In computer class, they learned about image manipulation in Microsoft Paint and how to make greeting cards in Publisher. In math, they covered larger numbers up to 1,000 and adding and subtracting 3-digit numbers. They also started learning multiplication and division. In English, they finished stories and took lessons on suffixes, adjectives, topic sentences and punctuation. Science lessons focused on motion, what causes movement and how magnets move objects. A reminder was given to parents about ensuring students get enough sleep, a healthy breakfast and a quiet study space for their upcoming exams.

- 1. May 2012 Grade 2 English, Math and Science Newsletter Lessons covered in Computer . This month the students completed the chapter on paint, how to flip and rotate and perform image manipulation. They also learned how to use Microsoft Publisher to make greeting cards. Their final evaluation will cover all the features of paint they have covered. Lessons covered in Math Students learned how to compare and order larger numbers (to 1000).They are able to add and subtract 3-digit numbers. At the end of this month, they had a basic idea about new concepts such as multiplication and division. Lessons covered in English The second graders have finished reading the story “Life Cycle of a Pumpkin” and “The A caption describing the graphic Signmaker’s Assistant”. In Phonics they have taken (Suffixes (un, re, pre & dis) and adding (er & est). In Grammar the students have taken Adjectives and Our Senses, Adjectives for ( Number, Size, and Shape) and Adjectives that compare. In Writing students have taken topic sentences and the correct use of punctuation. .
