My keynote presentation for Future Dem 10 showing politicians, police, councillors, mayors and decision-makers engaged with their communities in ways some people may find quite unexpected. Digital technologies afford new and different approaches to old problems such as anti-social behavior, postindustrial decline and regeneration. However, to achieve digital inclusion we have to consider digital relevance and promote digital enthusiasm.
Democracy works best when communities engage their elected representatives, not just the other way round. In showing the unexpected, I hope I may challenge some of the preconceived ideas about engagement and inclusion and invite people to consider new approaches.
Presentation from Creativity Summit in Sweden 2023. I invited participants to dive deeply into research on Large Language Models and the design of creative AI tools. My goal was to show how Generative AI lowers the bar for people to create images, videos, and music. However, I recognized the need to design generative AI tools that enhance and respect creatives' attribution and agency. I concluded my talk by acknowledging that we still have several open questions about ethics, intellectual property, and carbon footprint when it comes to using these technologies and invited the creatives in the room to play an active role in the next steps.

An overview of pitch and demos presented at the UK Immersive Pitch and Demo event at SXSW 2019 in Austin, Texas. Delegates experienced demos and watched lightning pitches from the best and the brightest UK content creators, with representatives from the UK’s commercial, cultural and academic organisations.
Introducing the nine Creative Industries R&D partnerships as part of the Creative Industries Clusters Programme. Spread across the four nations of the UK, the partnerships are of exceptional quality in terms of research capability, growth plans and the industrial partners who drive them.
Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, as part of the Government’s Industrial Strategy, the final nine creative clusters have been announced following a year-long selection process. A new Policy and Evidence Centre and a National Centre for Immersive Storytelling will also be developed alongside the clusters.

pulse rates of five participants and generates orchestral music from the data.
Mon Violon d’Ingres : A large-scale installation in the atrium space of

Acoustic Totem : An installation involving not only sound but also light and

and game audio. Justin Randell, the Course Director, has expertise in sound
synthesis, mixing and processing, and Senior Lecturer Dr Adam Parkinson has
published research on topics such as Human-Computer Interaction, Sound Art,
Design Practices and Sonification. South Bank Sound Lab is a series of events
that promotes student work alongside internationally renowned practitioners.

Luke Worgan : LSBU
Luke challenges perceptions of liveness through a combination of analogue
electronics and playful ‘home made’ gesture and touch-based interfaces. By
replacing conventional keys, faders and buttons with touch-pads, echo-location
and other sensors electronic music has a more expressive, and human feel.

Project 2
Project 2 are Katy Schutte and Chris Mead with live soundtrack by Fred Deakin.
They are improvisers exploring the genre of science-fiction, creating the
dialogue, characters, stories and music for their shows from scratch every time
they take to the stage. They have performed together for over five years and
also regularly teach and write about the art of improvisation.
