FAIR USE. WHAT IS IT?
U.S. concept, created by judges and protected by law.


recognizes that certain types of use of other people's
   copyright protected works do not require the copyright
   holder's authorization .

primarily designed to allow the use of the
  copyright protected work for :
–commentary, parody, news reporting, research
 and education

ASK YOURSELF:
What is the purpose of your production? Is it for commercial or for nonprofit
   educational purposes? Fair use does not apply if it’s for a commercial/for
   profit production.
How much of the copyrighted work did you use in the new work? Is the new work
   transformed and used in a new and different way? or is it the same as the
   copyrighted work?
FAIR USE GUIDELINES FOR
MULTIMEDIA
Motion Media
•Up to 10% of a copyrighted work or 3 minutes,
            whichever is less
•Clip cannot be altered in any way
•Be sure to have permission to use any video that you are cutting, making
changes to, or imbedding in a project.

Illustrations/Photographs
A photograph or illustration may be used in its entirety
•No more than 5 images of an artist’s or photographer’s work
•When using a collection, no more than 10% or no more than 15 images, which every is less

U.S. concept, created by judges and protected by law. recognizes that certain types of use of other people's copyright protected works do not require the copyright holder's authorization . primarily designed to allow the use of the copyright protected work for : –commentary, parody, news reporting, research and education ASK YOURSELF: What is the purpose of your production? Is it for commercial or for nonprofit educational purposes? Fair use does not apply if it’s for a commercial/for profit production. How much of the copyrighted work did you use in the new work? Is the new work transformed and used in a new and different way? or is it the same as the copyrighted work?

FAIR USE GUIDELINES FOR MULTIMEDIA Motion Media •Up to 10% of a copyrighted work or 3 minutes, whichever is less •Clip cannot be altered in any way •Be sure to have permission to use any video that you are cutting, making changes to, or imbedding in a project.
