Mats André Zuccarello Aasen, commonly known as Mats Zuccarello, was born on September 1, 1987, in
Oslo, Norway. He grew up in the bustling neighborhood of Løren, where his passion for ice hockey began
at a young age. His mother, Anita Zuccarello, is of Italian descent, and his father, Glenn Aasen, is
Norwegian. This multicultural background played a significant role in shaping his identity and versatility
on and off the ice.

4. Ramon Pagayon Santos was
born in Paig Rizal on
February 25, 1941 to parents
Attorney Jose Santos and
pianist-singer Amada
Pagayon. He has two
daughters with his wife
Lourdes Wong. He graduated
with a degree of Bachelor of
Arts in Music, major in
composition and conducting
at the Uneversity in 1969,
and doctorates degree in
music at the State University
of New York in 1972
5. His first works had a neoclassic strain, as in
Pied Beauty in 1968, and in 1969, Concertino
Variations for Orchestra. After his
introduction to avantgarde technique, he
composed a cantata based on the
lamentations enetitled Improperia for
Soloist, Chorus, Orchestra, and Kulintang.
6. Upon return in the Philippines. He immersed
himself I indgenious Philippine and Asian
music and had more interest in open-ended
structures of time ad space, while exploring
the local sound sources. He composed
Nabasag ang Banga at Ibat ibang Pinag-
ugpong-ugpong na Pananalita para sa Lbing-
anim na Tinig in 1972,where he explored the
musical valuebof everyday sounds.
7. He focused more on elements in Philippine
culture while we using Western sound media.
This is evident in Phenomenon in 1989, Tin-ig
in 1983, and Duain in 1986, for orchestra.
Also Santos produced works integrating
music, dance, drama, and poetry, such a Ba-
diw in 1987, which was inspired by the
poetico-musical expression of the Ibaloi of
Northern Philippines, and Daragang Magayon
in 1991.
8. Jose Monserrat Maceda composer,
ethnomusicologist, and pianist
was born in Manila on Jnuary 31,
1917. He his the son of Castro
Maceda y Norona and Concepcion
Monserrat. He is married to
Madelyn Clifford, a pianist.
Upon his return to Manila, he
turned his focused from piano to
composing new music. He
conducted concerts of Asian Music
and avant-garde. These included
the music of Baoulez, Ravel,
Varese, and Xenakis, programmed
with Chinese music, kudyapi and
kulintang, and his first avant-
garde compositions.
9. His avant-garde works include; Ugma-ugma,
for native instruments and chorus using
blocks of sound alternating with tense-high
voices; Agungan, for gongs featuring
densities, colors, sound struck with sticks,
hands,sliding palms;Kubing, for bamboo
instruments and mens voices; and Pagsamba,
for 116 instrumentalist , 100 voices, chorus
of 25 men – this is a ritual music for acircular
auditorium.
10. Manuel Perez Maramba
was born in Manila on July
4, 1936 to parents Tomas
Maramba, Sr. and Pacifica
Perez, a pianist who was
his first music teacher. He
was a Benedictine monk
with monastic name, DOM
BENILDUS MARIA. His
masters degree in piano
was earned from Peabody
Conservatory of Music of
Music in Baltimore in 1956
and bachelors degree in
composition in 1958.
11. Maramba performed at Carnegie Hall with
the Yale Symphony Orchestra at age 19. As a
sacred music composer, he is best known for
Hymn to San Lorenzo Ruiz, dedicated to the
first Filipino saint. He also wrote music for
ballet, Awakening in 1981; orchestral music
Concerto for Piano in 1982; and chamber
music, Transfiguration I in 1983, and II in
1987.
12. Lucrecia Roces Kasilag was
born in San Fernando, La
Union on August 31, 1918.
Kasilag, a National Artist in
Music, was the third child of
six by parents Marcial Kasilag
Sr., a government engineer,
and Asincion Roces, a music
teacher. Kasilag played the
bandurria and guitar on
weekends, at an early age.
Her mother used to arrange
her children to form the ‘
Kasilag Rondalla’’ and play
before her.
13. Kasilag works which are; Toccata for
Percussion and Winds; Diverstisements for
Piano and Orchestra Legend of the
Sarimanok, Filiasiana. A choral dance
kaleidoscope; Dularawan (Drama-Tableau),
for indigenious instruments and mixed
chorus; Her Son, Jose an operatio; and Sisa,
a ballet music. She has also written numeros
articles and essay on different aspect og
humanities and research about music of Asia.
14. Francisco Francisco
Feliciano composers,
conductor, was born on
February 19,1941 in
Morong, Rizal. His
parents were Mximiano
Feliciano and Julia
Francisco, with whom
he was one of the nine
siblings, Feliciano was
married to Rebecca
Herrera with whom he
had two children
15. His composition for the orchestra were
Prelude and Toccata, Fragments,
Transfiguratuon, and Pagdakila sa Kordilyera.
He wrote his three act La-loba Negra, for
opera, with libretto by Fides Cuyugan-
Asencio. Feliciano also wrote chamber music
such as Stueck fuer Neun Instrumenten,
String Quartet No.1, Piece for Six Percussion
Players, and Isostasie III for string and
woodwind. His choral works include Te
Deum, Bagbagto, for male voices, Si Yahweh
ang Aking Pastol, and Panalangin sa Takim-
silim.
16. Jeremiah Amper Dadap was
born on November 5, 1935 in
Hinunangan, Leyte to
parents Vedasto Dadap and
Dionisia Amper. His mother
was church singer who
belonged to a musical family.
His first encounter with
music was when he heard
Verdi arias played by his
mother.
17. He was one of the first Filipino composer
who explored the symphonic potential of the
Philippine rondalla. He has credit for more
than 50 major composition such as Violin
Concerto for three movements, MangamuyoI,
Mangamuyo II, which are chamber music.
18. Jones Baes is a
Philippine cmposer born
in Los Banos, Laguna in
1961. Hr did research
on the music of the
Iraya-Mangyan people
of Mindoro, which gave
him inpiration for his
compositions. Ftom
1992-1994. he studied
with Mathais Spahlinger
in Freiburg, Germany.
19. Baes is known for writing music using
uncommon musical instruments like bean-
pod rattles, iron nail chimes, leaves, as well
as various Asian instruments such as bamboo
flutes, bamboo scrapers, and vocal music
using great numbers of performers, in the
1980s. It is typical for social theory to
influence the work of Baes who has made a
mark on contemporary music and cultural
politics in the Asian region.
20. Some musical composition of Jonas Baes include
Imagined Community, after Benedict Anderson,
for four bamboo scarapers, ‘bamui’’ tail caller,
‘’sarunai’’ oboe, ‘’khaen’’ mouth organ, a
humdred iron nail chimes distributed among the
audience 1197-2001. Pantawag ( music for callin
people) for 15 bamboo scrapers, 15 palm leaves,
and 20 muffled forest voice 1981. Basbasan
(blessings) for 20 bean-pod rattles and 20
muffled men voices 1983. Daluy (flow) interval
music for five animator-percussionist and about
a hundred bird whistles distributed among the
audience 1994.
21. Ibo-ibon(birdwoman) for dancer wearing
small bells, two wind chimes passed around
the audience, four animator-callers and iron
nails chimes played by the audience 1996.
Wala (nothingness) for seven or hundreds of
men voices 1997-2001. Salaysay (narratives)
for solo voice, three percussionist, and pair
of pebbles distributed among the audience;
Patangis-buwaya (and the crocodile weeps)
for four sub- contrabass recorders or any
blown instruments 2003.
