NEUROREHABILITATION
INTRODUCTION
Neurorehabilitation is a complex medical process
which aims to aid recovery from nervous system
injury, and to minimize or compensate from any
functional alteration resulting from it.
It works on the skills and attitude of the Disabled
person and their family. It encourages them to build
a self esteem and a positive mood.It should be
holistic,patient focused,resolving, sparingand
inculsive care plan.
NEUROLOGICAL REHABILITATION TEAM
• Neurologist/Neurosurgeon
• Orthopaedic Surgeon
• Physiatrist
• Internist
• Rehabilitation nurse
• Dietitian
• Physical therapist
• Audiologist
• Speech therapist
• Occupational therapist
CONTINUE..
• Occupational therapist
• Recreational therapist
• Vocational therapist
• Speech therapist
• It promotes the patient skill to work at high level of
independency possible for him / het after the damage
of brain.
• Some of the conditions that may benefit from
neurorehabilitation may include,vascular disorders
such as stroke, ischemic, hemorrhagic stroke,.
• Infections such as meningitis, encephilitis, and brain
abscess.
• Trauma such as brain and spinal cord injury.
• Functional disorders such as headache,
• seizures and dizziness
BENEFITS OF NEUROREHABILITATION
INDICATION
• Degenerative disorders :- Parkinson's
disease,Alzheimer disease and Huntington
chorea.
• Vascular disorders
• Structural, trauma
• Functional disorders
• Infections
• Neuromuscular disorders
COMPONENT
BALANCE RETRAINING
• Loss of balance may result in the inability to do the
daily activities.Although loss of balance is associated
with :-
• Aging problems
• Weakness in the muscles and joints
• Vestibular or otitis media are the common cause of
loss of balance
• Balance retraining exercises help to resolve the
conflict between your brain and inner ear problems
GAIT RETRAINING
AQUA THERAPY
• Aquatic therapy is a rehabilitation option that
allows the people to exercise in the water.
• Buoyancy a feature of water help in
supporting the weight of the patient which
reduces the stress on the.
• Warmth of the water allows muscle to relax
and increased blood flow to the injured area
which assist in healing.
NEUROMUSCULAR RETRAINING
• Neuromuscular exercise can help you to achieve
a variety of goals which helps in improving
balance, coordination and posture.
• Injuries ,repititive use, poor posture unhealthy
biomechanics can make your movement pattern
become inefficient.
• The aiim of neuromuscular exercises is to restore
natural and energy efficient movement patterns
and also help to reduces the pain that result
from neuromuscular deficiencies.
TIPS ON MANAGING STRESS
• Positive attitude
• Support system
• Laughing
• Exercise
• Take time for you
• Meditation
