Moving data between processes has often been discussed as one of the
major bottlenecks in parallel computing—there is a large body of research, striving
to improve communication latency and bandwidth on different networks, measured
with ping-pong benchmarks of different message sizes. In practice, the data to be
communicated generally originates from application data structures and needs to be
serialized before communicating it over serial network channels.

This Object Management Group (OMG) RFP solicits submissions identifying and defining mechanisms to achieve integration between DDS infrastructures and TSN networks. The goal is to provide all artifacts needed to support the design, deployment and execution of DDS systems over TSN networks.
The DDS-TSN integration specification sought shall realize the following functionality:
● Define mechanisms that provide the information required for TSN-enabled networks to calculate any network schedules needed to deploy a DDS system.

● Identify those parts of the set of the IEEE TSN standards that are relevant for a DDS-TSN integration and indicate how the DDS aspects are mapped onto, or related to, the associated TSN aspects. Examples include TSN- standardized information models for calculating system-wide schedules and configuring network equipment.
● Identify and specify necessary extensions to the [DDSI-RTPS] and [DDS- SECURITY] specifications, if any, to allow DDS infrastructures to use TSN- enabled networks as their transport while maintaining interoperability between different DDS implementations.
● Identify and specify necessary extensions to the DDS and DDS- XML specification, if any, to allow declaration of TSN-specific properties or quality of service attributes.

time-consuming and labor-intensive task. Existing synthesis techniques for UML-based service
specifications do not account for timing constrains and, therefore, cannot be used in real time applications
for which the timing constraints are crucial and must be considered. In this paper, we address the problem
of time assignment to the events defined in the service specification modeled in UML state machine. In
addition, we show how to extend a technique that automatically synthesizes UML-based protocol
specifications from a service specification to consider the timing constraints given in the service
specification. The resulting synthesized protocol is guaranteed to conform to the timing constraints given in
the service specification.

5. 6. YANG Syntax
The YANG syntax is similar to that of SMIng [RFC3780] and programming
languages like C and C++. This C-like syntax was chosen specifically
for its readability, since YANG values the time and effort of the
readers of models above those of modules writers and YANG tool-chain
developers. This section introduces the YANG syntax.
The SMIv1 and the SMIv2 are bound to the Simple Network Management
Protocol (SNMP) [RFC3411], while the SPPI is bound to the Common Open
Policy Service Provisioning (COPS-PR) Protocol [RFC3084]. Even
though the languages have common rules, it is hard to use common data
definitions with both protocols. It is the purpose of this document
to define a common data definition language, named SMIng, that can
formally specify data models independent of specific protocols and
applications. The appendix of this document defines a core module
that supplies common SMIng definitions.
