The nervous system controls all thoughts and movements through neurons that carry electrical messages throughout the body. The brain is the command center located in the central nervous system along with the spinal cord. The peripheral nervous system includes nerves that branch out to the rest of the body. Damage to the nervous system can cause problems ranging from minor issues like carpal tunnel syndrome to more serious diseases like Alzheimer's or Huntington's that affect thinking and movement. The nervous system allows the body to function, move, and think by relaying messages via neurons from the brain to different parts of the body.
