2. Traits As Leader
Mandela showed a great deal of emotional stability.
Mandela was always able to share his opinions tactfully, his
dignity and easy grace separated him from others, he was
very open minded, and was able to see the difference of
being divergent and being discriminated. Even when
mandela was in jail, he was known to be caring for those
that were sick or wounded. Mandela never held a grudge
against anybody, he always placed forgiveness and moving
forward both for himself and South Africa.
3. What made him a great leader
Nelson had read many biographies in his time in jail of
great leaders who had been able to overcome their
shortcomings and rise to do great things which ended up
inspiring him. Nelson Mandela was a great and smart
leader, in his time there was many racial issues and he
found a way no other leader has thought of. He made the
people forget about the issue for a moment through soccer.
He had used a sport to get people together of different
races without any violence.
4. Leading People
Under the leadership of Mr. Mandela South Africa made great
strides in improving the overall quality of its institutions, this
made the economy and society have a positive impact. He was
one of the most extraordinary leaders that Africa, or any other
continent, ever had. Not only did he lead his people to triumph
over that enforced racial segregation in every area of a South
African's life. He achieved this victory without what people
called the blood bath that so many had predicted and feared.
5. Back Ground Information
Nelson Mandela was born on July 18, 1918, in the small village of Mvesco, South
Africa. Nelson’s father who was chief or was meant to be chief served as councilor for
the chiefs of the village, but lost his privilege of becoming chief over a dispute. His loss
of the chief position affected the status of his family, and obligated them to move to a
even smaller village. When Mandela was an infant he was baptised in the Methodist
Church, and was the first person from his family to ever go to school. At the age of
nine Nelson’s father died of lung cancer changing his life dramatically. In 1939,
Mandela attended university of Fort Hare and studied Dutch law to obtain a career in
civil service as clerk. As the time passed by he joined and supported several groups that
called for equality and fairness. He later became president of Africa and continued his
work to make the rights of people equal and fair.
6. Some Inspiring Quotes from
Nelson Mandela
● "Education is the most powerful weapon
which you can use to change the world."
● "It always seems impossible until it's done."
● “No one is born hating another person because of the color
of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must
learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be
taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human
heart than its opposite.”
