In order to be certified as Work Ready, a community must meet each of the following criteria: > Letter of commitment to workforce excellence from county leaders > Growth in high school graduation rate > Increase in the number of Career Readiness Certifications issued to the total labor force > Employers committed to excellence in workforce by written notification that they prefer or require the Career Readiness Certificate for recruitment and hiring

- Good afternoon, thank you for the invitation to join you today to provide a quick overview of the NC Chamber and the NC Chamber Foundation
- The NC Chamber is a statewide, non-partisan business advocacy organization. We have over 35,000 members that employ almost 1.3 million. I work on the Chamber’s government affairs team. We work with the legislature and government agencies each year on an annual JOBS Agenda crafted via input from our members, board of directors and internal team. Today, however, I will be focusing on the NC Chamber Foundation. The NC Chamber Foundation serves as the long-term policy center. The Foundation studies policy issues and provides feasible recommendations my team can advocate for in certain arenas.
- The Foundation is centered on four Pillars of Secure Future. Today we will be focusing specifically on initiatives designed to improve the Education & Talent Supply Pillar
- Today I want to highlight an initiative that we know is moving the needle in improving North Carolina’s talent pipeline. The NC Works CWRC program is a partnership between the NC Chamber Foundation NC Department of Commerce NC Department of Public Instruction NC Community College System Office of the Governor This statewide team set out to scale the NCEast Alliance’s pilot program in certifying counties as “work ready” utilizing ACT’s WorkKeys assessments
- Discuss the event – how we come and present them with the certification Groups attending include: local chamber, local businesses, elected officials
- Discuss what a big deal it is to these communities.
