A great tip to help you lose weight is to leave the house and just go for a walk whenever you feel the urge to snack. Sometimes it's just about distracting yourself when you're hungry. Leaving the house and going for a walk is a great distraction from hunger.
The Java Burn formula is made using a blend of antioxidants, plant extracts, and amino acids that could speed up metabolism and aid the fat-burning process. The ingredients used could also help increase energy levels and affect your overall health and wellbeing. Some of these ingredients might be new to you, while others may be more commonplace. Lowering blood pressure does not always mean taking medications. It is actually possible to reduce blood pressure levels naturally by following these tips!
The word “hypertension” means regular increase in arterial pressure. Blood pressure is increased when arteries and arterioles are narrowed. Arteries are like water channels feeding the earth and connecting the seas. But in a human body they are filled with the blood circulating between the heart and other bodies. Vasoconstriction may be observed because of regular spasms. The vessels remain narrowed due to thickenings of arterial walls.
Blood pressure is a pressure the circulating blood presses on the walls of the blood vessels. Abnormal blood pressure and other cardiovascular pathologies are the main reason of chronic diseases in men that are associated with risks to the health.
High or low blood pressure may be the symptom of many diseases and pathologies. Control and a regular blood pressure measurement help to timely start a drug treatment and reducing the risk for health.
Systolic pressure belongs to the most important health indicators. Usually, a systolic pressure increases with age; therefore, adult people and especially elderly should measure their blood pressure within the circulatory system.
High blood pressure is also known as hypertension. Blood pressure is the amount of force exerted against the walls of the arteries as blood flows through them.
Every year, nearly five million Americans need blood transfusions. An estimated 43,000 pints (or units) of donated blood are used each day in the United States, and one in seven people entering the hospital needs blood. Women are critical to the country’s blood supply, since their role as caregivers sends a message that donating blood is the right thing to do. However, they are also more likely than men to be temporarily restricted from donating because of low hematocrit, or red blood cell levels if they are still menstruating.

Since the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved “the pill” in 1960, it has become the most popular and one of the most effective forms of reversible birth control ever invented. According to The Guttmacher Institute, among U.S. women who use birth control, more than 27 percent use the pill. A 2013 National Health Statistics Report says that 82 percent of women who use contraceptionhave used the pill at some point.e most popular and one of the most effective forms of reversible birth control ever invented. According to Planned Parenthood, among U.S. couples who use birth control, more than 30 percent use the pill.
Most men consider care to prevent pregnancy feminine duty. And yet, to take active part in the defense of their partners from unintended pregnancy, men can and should. Here are some examples of all currently existing methods of male contraception. Let’s consider the most common and used methods of methods of birth control for men and check their efficacy profile.
After 45-50 years of age, you can feel certain natural changes of health state: from well-known vasomotor disorders to essentially affecting the life quality and potential reasons of serious health problems (cardiovascular diseases and osteoporosis). At the same time, women of mature age have got their life experience and they have reached their career top, however, worsening of health state make them avoid any communication and even leave their job position. With estimation of their healthy life way and their care of own health which are the base of good health state in senior age, it should be noted that a good advice in the period of adaptation to a new stage of life is necessary for any woman. And if in the XIX century there was no reason to discuss this problem, because an average woman’s life did not exceed forty years, nowadays success of modern medicine put new tasks.
Activity of female reproductive system is controlled by sex glands: ovaries produced the female sex hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone. Influence of sex hormones is evident in the development of so-called secondary sexual character: constitution, breast, typical female hair pattern.
Hormones are chemical agents, transmitters among different tissues of our organism. Hormones are produced by the endocrine glands. For example, sex hormones are produced mainly by ovaries and in insignificant quantity by adrenal glands. Hormones penetrate in the blood and make a targeted organ start its function activity or stop its work. The blood contains a large quantity of various biologically active agents at the same time, however, different hormones find their targeted organs. How it is going on?
When using oral contraceptives (oral pills), chances of getting pregnant do not exceed 1%. The duration of using oral pills does not affect the chances of getting pregnant. Therefore, women can take oral pills for many years, without worrying about unplanned pregnancy.
The absolute majority of mature women use hormonal contraceptives to prevent pregnancy. When planning a pregnancy, many women are wondering «How effective is birth control?
Bipolar disorder is a mental illness marked by extreme mood swings from high (mania) to low (depression) and low to high. The mood swings may even become mixed, so you might feel elated and depressed at the same time.
Biofeedback is a therapeutic technique that teaches you how to control physical responses such as breathing, muscle tension, hand temperature, heart rate, blood pressure and brain activity that are not normally controlled voluntarily. This control is achieved by learning how to focus on and modify signals from your body. Biofeedback may be used to help people change the way their bodies respond to a variety of conditions, includingchronic pain, stress and anxiety, to name a few.
It must have been that super-strenuous spin class I took last week, when my mind fooled me into believing I was 35 but my body stubbornly acted its age. Energized but exhausted, I continued this self-deception by joining a friend after class in some challenging new ab work. She showed me new moves she’d recently learned. I struggled to keep up with her, but my body protested until I graciously bowed out.
Many men experience symptoms of erectile dysfunction (ED) as they age. Also known as impotence, ED is an occasional (or prolonged) inability to get or maintain an erection. When ED occurs frequently, you might need treatment for an underlying health issue.
Your lungs lie in your upper back area and so problem in your lung can easily refer directly to the muscles in your upper back. Lung problems can also be recognised when your upper back pain is associated with breathing or coughing.
Babesiosis is a disease caused by microscopic parasites that infect red blood cells. Many different species (types) of Babesia parasites have been found in animals, only a few of which have been found in people. Babesia microti which usually infects white-footed mice and other small mammals is the main species that has been found in people in the United States. Occasional cases caused by other Babesia species have been detected.
New Directions in Targeted Therapeutic Approaches for Older Adults With Mantl...i3 Health
i3 Health is pleased to make the speaker slides from this activity available for use as a non-accredited self-study or teaching resource.
This slide deck presented by Dr. Kami Maddocks, Professor-Clinical in the Division of Hematology and
Associate Division Director for Ambulatory Operations
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will provide insight into new directions in targeted therapeutic approaches for older adults with mantle cell lymphoma.
STATEMENT OF NEED
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounting for 5% to 7% of all lymphomas. Its prognosis ranges from indolent disease that does not require treatment for years to very aggressive disease, which is associated with poor survival (Silkenstedt et al, 2021). Typically, MCL is diagnosed at advanced stage and in older patients who cannot tolerate intensive therapy (NCCN, 2022). Although recent advances have slightly increased remission rates, recurrence and relapse remain very common, leading to a median overall survival between 3 and 6 years (LLS, 2021). Though there are several effective options, progress is still needed towards establishing an accepted frontline approach for MCL (Castellino et al, 2022). Treatment selection and management of MCL are complicated by the heterogeneity of prognosis, advanced age and comorbidities of patients, and lack of an established standard approach for treatment, making it vital that clinicians be familiar with the latest research and advances in this area. In this activity chaired by Michael Wang, MD, Professor in the Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma at MD Anderson Cancer Center, expert faculty will discuss prognostic factors informing treatment, the promising results of recent trials in new therapeutic approaches, and the implications of treatment resistance in therapeutic selection for MCL.
Target Audience
Hematology/oncology fellows, attending faculty, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
Learning Objectives
1.) Identify clinical and biological prognostic factors that can guide treatment decision making for older adults with MCL
2.) Evaluate emerging data on targeted therapeutic approaches for treatment-naive and relapsed/refractory MCL and their applicability to older adults
3.) Assess mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies for MCL and their implications for treatment selection

Title: Sense of Smell
Presenter: Dr. Faiza, Assistant Professor of Physiology
Qualifications:
MBBS (Best Graduate, AIMC Lahore)
FCPS Physiology
ICMT, CHPE, DHPE (STMU)
MPH (GC University, Faisalabad)
MBA (Virtual University of Pakistan)
Learning Objectives:
Describe the primary categories of smells and the concept of odor blindness.
Explain the structure and location of the olfactory membrane and mucosa, including the types and roles of cells involved in olfaction.
Describe the pathway and mechanisms of olfactory signal transmission from the olfactory receptors to the brain.
Illustrate the biochemical cascade triggered by odorant binding to olfactory receptors, including the role of G-proteins and second messengers in generating an action potential.
Identify different types of olfactory disorders such as anosmia, hyposmia, hyperosmia, and dysosmia, including their potential causes.
Key Topics:
Olfactory Genes:
3% of the human genome accounts for olfactory genes.
400 genes for odorant receptors.
Olfactory Membrane:
Located in the superior part of the nasal cavity.
Medially: Folds downward along the superior septum.
Laterally: Folds over the superior turbinate and upper surface of the middle turbinate.
Total surface area: 5-10 square centimeters.
Olfactory Mucosa:
Olfactory Cells: Bipolar nerve cells derived from the CNS (100 million), with 4-25 olfactory cilia per cell.
Sustentacular Cells: Produce mucus and maintain ionic and molecular environment.
Basal Cells: Replace worn-out olfactory cells with an average lifespan of 1-2 months.
Bowman’s Gland: Secretes mucus.
Stimulation of Olfactory Cells:
Odorant dissolves in mucus and attaches to receptors on olfactory cilia.
Involves a cascade effect through G-proteins and second messengers, leading to depolarization and action potential generation in the olfactory nerve.
Quality of a Good Odorant:
Small (3-20 Carbon atoms), volatile, water-soluble, and lipid-soluble.
Facilitated by odorant-binding proteins in mucus.
Membrane Potential and Action Potential:
Resting membrane potential: -55mV.
Action potential frequency in the olfactory nerve increases with odorant strength.
Adaptation Towards the Sense of Smell:
Rapid adaptation within the first second, with further slow adaptation.
Psychological adaptation greater than receptor adaptation, involving feedback inhibition from the central nervous system.
Primary Sensations of Smell:
Camphoraceous, Musky, Floral, Pepperminty, Ethereal, Pungent, Putrid.
Odor Detection Threshold:
Examples: Hydrogen sulfide (0.0005 ppm), Methyl-mercaptan (0.002 ppm).
Some toxic substances are odorless at lethal concentrations.
Characteristics of Smell:
Odor blindness for single substances due to lack of appropriate receptor protein.
Behavioral and emotional influences of smell.
Transmission of Olfactory Signals:
From olfactory cells to glomeruli in the olfactory bulb, involving lateral inhibition.
Primitive, less old, and new olfactory systems with different path

3. How to lowerbloodpressure
People with hypertensionoftenneedseveral medicationstocontrol bloodpressure.Butlifestyle
changescan ratchet itdowntoo, andmaybe eveneliminate the needfordrugs.
“Anybodywhohashypertensionshouldbe encouragedtoworkwiththeirphysiciantotryvariousthings
that mighthelpthemlowertheirbloodpressure withoutthe use of pharmacologicagents,”says
MatthewBurg, PhD,an associate clinical professorof medicine atColumbiaUniversityMedical Centerin
NewYork.
Here are 10 au naturel ways to loweryour blood pressure.
Exercise more
By followingcurrentguidelinesonexercise—30minutesaday,mostdays a week—youcanbringdown
your bloodpressure significantly, saysGeraldFletcher,MD,a cardiologistatthe Mayo Clinic,in
Jacksonville,Fla.,andaspokesmanforthe AmericanHeartAssociation.
If you’ve beensedentary,tryaerobicexercise toreduce yoursystolicbloodpressure—the topnumber—
by three tofive points, andthe bottombytwo to three, saysDr. Fletcher.
People whogetmovingare often able toreduce the numberof hypertensionmedicationsthey’re on,he
adds.Picksomethingyoulike—walking,running,swimming,cycling—andstickwithit.
Eat bananas
You probablyknowthateatingtoomuch saltcan raise bloodpressure, butmostpeoplearen’taware of
the benefitsof potassium,whichcounterssodium’sill effects.Mostdon’tgetenoughof thismineral.
Accordingto the 2010 DietaryGuidelinesforAmericans,people withhypertensionmayespecially
benefitfromuppingthe amountof potassiumintheirdiet.Adultsshouldgetatleast4,700 milligramsa
day.
A fewgoodsources:bananas(422 milligramseach),abakedpotatowithskin(738 milligrams),orange
juice (496 milligramspercup),andnonfator low-fatyogurt(531–579 milligramsper8ounces).
Cut salt
People withnormal bloodpressure,moderatelyhighbloodpressure,andfull-fledgedhypertensioncan
substantiallyreduce theirbloodpressure bycuttingsaltintake.The DietaryGuidelinesrecommendthat
people withhypertensionlimittheir intake of salttolessthan1,500 milligrams(600milligramsof
sodium) aday.
We getmost of our sodiumfromprocessedfoods, sostickwithwhole foods.Whenyoudoeatfoods
withnutritionlabels,be sure tochecktheirsodiumcontent.
Don’t smoke
4. Smokersare at higherriskof hypertension.Buteventhoughtobaccoandnicotine incigarettescan
cause temporaryspikesinbloodpressure,smokingitself isnotthoughttocause chronic
hypertension.(Instead,factorsassociatedwithsmoking,likeheavyalcohol consumptionandlackof
exercise,mightbe responsible.)
Nevertheless,quittingsmokingmayhelpyouloweryourbloodpressure abit,saysDr. Fletcher.And,of
course,the otherhealthbenefitsare countless.
Lose weight
Researchhasconsistentlyshown thatdroppingjustafew poundscanhave a substantial impactonyour
bloodpressure.Excessweightmakesyourheartworkharder.Thisextrastraincan leadto hypertension,
while losingweightlightensyourcardiovascularworkload.
If you’re overweightorobese,losingweightmaybe enoughtogetyourbloodpressure undercontrol.
Cut back on alcohol
Eventhoughmoderate drinking—nomore thanone drinkaday forwomen,andtwo a day formen—has
heart-healthbenefits,drinkingtoomuchcan elevate bloodpressure insome people.
Researchhasfoundthat consumingmore thantwodrinksa day increasesthe riskof hypertensionfor
bothmenand women.If youdo drink,enjoyyouralcoholicbeverage withameal,whichmaybluntits
effectsonbloodpressure.
De-stress
Managing the stressinyour life effectivelymayhelpreduceyourbloodpressure,butthere’snotenough
researchto offera step-by-stepstress-reductionplanforeveryone,saysBurg.
“There are a numberof thingsthat people have developedaspracticestoinduce a state of relaxation
and … whichone is better, whichisthe rightone, these are questionsthatremaintobe answeredin
clinical trials,”he says
Nevertheless,Burgrecommendsthatpeople withhighbloodpressurelookintostressmanagement and
findan approachtheywill be able topractice consistently.
Yoga
Yoga is a greatde-stressor.A NewDelhi studyrecentlyfoundthatyogicbreathingexercisesreduced
bloodpressure inpeoplewithhypertension,possiblythroughtheireffectsonthe autonomicnervous
system,whichgovernsheartrate,digestion,andotherlargelyunconsciousfunctions.
But people shouldnotthinkof yogaasprovidingthe same benefitasaerobicexercise,Burgsays.“Each
potentiallyproducesbenefitindifferentways.”
Skip caffeine
5. Coffee hassome healthbenefits,butloweringbloodpressureisn’tone of them.Caffeinecancause
short-termspikesinbloodpressure,eveninpeople withouthypertension.
If you have highbloodpressure,it’sagoodideato moderate yourcaffeineintake toabouttwocupsof
coffee perday.You can checkwhetheryou’re sensitive tocaffeine’sblood-pressure-boostingeffectsby
checkingyourbloodpressure before andwithinahalf hourafterconsumingyourcaffeinatedbeverage.
If it increases by5 or 10 points, youcouldbe caffeine sensitive.
Meditate
Meditation—whetheritinvolveschanting,breathing,visualization,orall the above—canbe aneffective
stress-managementtool formanypeople,Burgsays.Again,the importantthingisthatitmakesyoufeel
