The National Urban League will host its 3rd annual Urban Ideas Forum on November 5th at the Howard Theater in Washington D.C. to discuss the impact of the 2014 midterm elections on African Americans and other people of color. The forum will explore ongoing economic challenges like high unemployment rates and lack of homeownership among minorities. A panel of leaders including the presidents of the National Urban League and Leadership Conference will consider policy solutions and a pollster will provide an overview of the 2014 elections. The discussion aims to address pressing urban issues and promote growth in urban America.

WHAT: In the immediate aftermath of the 2014 Elections, the National Urban League and the Urban Solutions Council will explore the impact of election results as we seek to address some of urban America’s pressing challenges. The National Urban League, the nation’s largest historic civil rights and urban advocacy organization, will bring together a distinguished group of thought leaders, advocates and strategists to explore what 2015 holds for communities of color. Even as the national economy has seen 3.5 % growth, the African American and Hispanic unemployment rates still hover near double the national average (11 percent and 6.9 percent), homeownership remains below 50% for African Americans and Hispanics, and – despite tremendous progress under the Affordable Care Act – 16.1 percent of African Americans and 16.5 percent of Hispanics are still uninsured. Join us for a discussion of #NULIdeas to promote growth in Urban America.
