3. What is A National Park
A National park is an area of land protected by a national government to
conserve its natural beauty, history or science.
We need national parks for

5. History
➢ Originated from a Pahang state legislation in 1925.
➢ The park was originally names as the king George v national
park in 1938 to commemorate England's king Georges silver
jubilee.
➢ In 1957 Malaysia achieved independence and renamed the
park as TAMAN NEGARA and remained until today.
➢ The main purpose of the park was to utilize the land with
protection and preservation.

6. Characteristic
➢ Located in peninsular Malaysia
➢Taman Negara is one of the world’s oldest rainforests.
➢ The largest park in Malaysia (area of 4343 square
kilometers, 1676 square miles)
➢ Longest canopy walk in the world.
➢ It is known to be 130 million years old.
➢ Compromises of three states ,pahang,kelantan and
Terengganu.
➢ One of the well established and rich ecosystem in the
world.
➢ Over 300 species birds recorded
Climate:
âś“ Receives rain throughout the year, approximately
2200mm (lowland) and 3800mm (highland).

14. FORMATION OF GRAND CANYON
1. It flowed across a vast
plain.
2. Due to uplifting of Kaibab
the river diverted
southeast.

blocked resulting the

widen and deepened
forming grand canyon.

âť– Located at the northwest corner of Arizona, borders of Utah and Nevada.
âť– The park covers 1,217,262 acres
âť– An inspiring landscape with geological colours
âť– Park consist of south rim, north rim and inner canyon
âť– Grand Canyon is 277 river miles (446km) long, up to 18 miles (29km) wide, and a mile
(1.6km) deep
âť– Forest are found in the higher elevation while the lower is made up of desert basin
âť– Park contains several major ecosystems (eg:biological diversity and the five life zones )
âť– Has a rich fossil record, rock types and numerous caves
âť– The Arizona uplifting of the mountains was a unique character
âť– Limestone's, sandstone and shale's with in the canyon
