This presentation discussed integrating formative assessment methods in student affairs. It defined formative assessment as assessments conducted during a program to monitor student learning and provide feedback. The presentation provided examples of formative assessment from the University at Albany and Quinnipiac University. Both institutions discussed using formative assessment data to enhance orientation, train and evaluate student employees, and improve the overall student experience. Challenges included the time required for assessment and making progress with limited resources. Successes included using data to improve programs like welcome weekend and student leader trainings.
