2. Single stranded narrative- This just focusing on one storyline throughout the documentary e.g. one character,
an example of this would be the TV drama series ‘Dexter’.
Multi stranded narrative- This becoming about more than one storyline throughout the documentary. E.g.
Multiple characters, an example of this would be TV Drama series ‘Skins’.
Linear- This being in chronological order from start to end of the documentary. E.g. a normal day with no
interruptions such as flashbacks etc.
Non Linear- Not in chronological order and has people from various points throughout the documentary
(doesn’t fit together). E.g. Full of flashbacks/forwards and different stories which link to making the narrative.
Circular narrative- This is where the documentary ends where it began (sat on a couch etc.).
Open narrative- Make up your own mind and create own conclusions about ending of documentary. An
example of this would be EastEnders, Viewers are left guessing what will happen within the next episode.
Closed narrative- Where the ending conclusion is set in stone. An example of this would be family guy, where
as each episode follows one single closed narrative.
