2. The National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing or
NASCAR has been entertaining fans for over 70 years
acrossNorth America and the World. Despite the sports
storied history NASCAR has a problem, attendance at
races and viewership is declining.
What can we do to increase the fan interest and keep this
legendary sport alive?

• Consists of several series with the Monster Energy Cup
Series being the top series
• The average NASCAR race only has about 50% of its
live audience compared to the peak days.
• Ratings have been steadily declining
• Nascar remains on top for stock car racing despite this
decline
FACTS
4. • Cost of travel has increased
• Cost of living has increased
• Competition related rule changes have upset fans
• Fans feel that the sport is no longer the same as when it was founded d
Why the Decline?
5. What Can We Do?
We need to work hard on recapturing the glory days
of the sport. We need to focus on what the fans want.
• Lift the complex and hard to follow rules
• Bring back fan favorite sponsors
• Bring back the spirit of competition to the drivers
• Provide fans with pre race entertainment
• Ask the fans what they want to see and what
changes they would like
6. NASCAR has a lot to be proud of, with our rich
history and emphasis on family and American
values. In recent years NASCAR has experienced a
diminished fan base, lower ticket sales, and fewer
at home viewers, but we are taking steps to turn
things around. If NASCAR fully takes advantage of
this opportunity to make changes to our brand, we
can enhance our ability to entertain millions of race
fans every week and continue to preserve the
legacy of our sport.
