This document proposes an algorithm to augment existing narrative maps for blind travelers with automated landmark extraction and path inference. The algorithm uses natural language processing techniques to extract landmarks and connectivity information from verbal route descriptions. It analyzes sentences, identifies noun phrases as landmarks, and verb phrases to extract actions and connectivity between landmarks. The algorithm was tested on 272 route directions, extracting 421 landmarks and 884 connections with high accuracy. It also inferred 2,210 new potential paths between landmarks.
