Morning session NAIP Part - I
1. DR. A. Mahendra Raju, Additional Central P.F. Commissioner:
Keynote Address on Payroll Professionalism
 According to Dr.Raju Payroll administration concept is yet to settle in India.
 In India, even today only 60%-70% organizations talk about Payroll &
personnel.
 There is lot of disparity in the payroll structure.
 According to him, complaints are outcome of our own psyche.
 He also added that many people are not able to find out their own job &
are not able to give their 100%.
 Any day in the evening if you are going home exhausted or disturbed that
means you are not happy with your own output. Whatever we are
performing in a given day, it should give satisfaction to ourselves.
Opportune observation:
Can we increase the employee satisfaction level by knowing them better? How to
give an employee a sense of growth? Can A HRMS software help?

2. Panel Discussion – “How to Motivate & Retain the
generations”
Moderator: Mr. Sanjeev Parker, Director Human Capital, Pricewater House
Coopers.
Panellist – Dr. Neil Sequeira (Director–HR-PD Hinduja National Hospital), Atul
Sahu Head Sales Harrison Assessments), Mr. Shourya K Chakravarty – Sr. Vice
President & Head HR-Aptech, Miss. Aparna Sharma-Country Head HR-Lafarge
Points from the discussion -
 Multi-generation environment is a new diversity challenge for HR
organization.
 According to panel- very high attrition level seen among Gen-Y people.
Reason Gen-Y guys are highly ambitious. Panellist from their experience &
observation stated that Generation X or Baby boomers seek respect and
Gen-Y looks for parity.
 The panel talked about behavioural diversity. It is very true each of us
have unique behavioural DNA. Human behaviour is very complex. However
it is important to capture Human behaviour & build index around it.
 Panel even discussed the needs to spell out what are the things in the
organization which engages employees & what disengage.

 Gen y people need to be recognized, Aparna shared her experience & said
that Gen-y people are very confident & go getters. We can motivate &
retain employees by reverse mentoring i.e. there should be an initiative
taken by reporting manager or superior (Gen-x) and should take feedback
from junior’s (Gen-y)

 Panel suggested that the HR needs to go through some method to
understand different type of people @ work place.
 HR Policy should be different for different age group or generation.
 Organization should explain to Gen- Y the importance of PF & other
contribution
 There should be an introduction of Flexi-benefits in an organization and
clarity of work content to each employee.
 Incentive Benefits add lot of motivation to Gen-Y.
Opportune Observation:
There is lot of disparity within Gen-y [e.g. Urban Vs Rural background, Social and
economical background]. How will an organisation bridge the gap? Can a HRMS
platform be useful?

3. Mr. Gautam Gosh – Lead India Marketing, Brave new talent:
 According to Mr. Gautam, HR & Payroll career can be advanced by using
social media.
 He started his presentation by giving a brief idea about Social media.
 Social media refers to the means of interactions among people in which
they create, share, and exchange information and ideas in virtual
communities and networks.
 Very correctly he said “Knowledge is freely available”. He shared some
good examples of online community like payrollblogger.com
 Nowadays learning becoming informal & People trust their influencer
Opportune Observation:
A lot has been talked about social media, its time we need to use the social
media to get the desired results

Commissioner: Keynote Address on Payroll Professionalism  According to Dr.Raju Payroll administration concept is yet to settle in India.  In India, even today only 60%-70% organizations talk about Payroll & personnel.  There is lot of disparity in the payroll structure.  According to him, complaints are outcome of our own psyche.  He also added that many people are not able to find out their own job & are not able to give their 100%.  Any day in the evening if you are going home exhausted or disturbed that means you are not happy with your own output. Whatever we are performing in a given day, it should give satisfaction to ourselves. Opportune observation: Can we increase the employee satisfaction level by knowing them better?   • 4. Opportune Technologies Pvt. Ltd Page 4 of 6 2. Panel Discussion – “How to Motivate & Retain the generations” Moderator: Mr. Sanjeev Parker, Director Human Capital, Pricewater House Coopers. Panellist – Dr. Neil Sequeira (Director–HR-PD Hinduja National Hospital), Atul Sahu Head Sales Harrison Assessments), Mr. Shourya K Chakravarty – Sr. Vice President & Head HR-Aptech, Miss. Aparna Sharma-Country Head HR-Lafarge Points from the discussion -  Multi-generation environment is a new diversity challenge for HR organization.  According to panel- very high attrition level seen among Gen-Y people. Reason Gen-Y guys are highly ambitious. Panellist from their experience & observation stated that Generation X or Baby boomers seek respect and Gen-Y looks for parity.  The panel talked about behavioural diversity. It is very true each of us have unique behavioural DNA. Human behaviour is very complex. However it is important to capture Human behaviour & build index around it.  Panel even discussed the needs to spell out what are the things in the organization which engages employees & what disengage.   Gen y people need to be recognized, Aparna shared her experience & said that Gen-y people are very confident & go getters. We can motivate & retain employees by reverse mentoring i.e. there should be an initiative taken by reporting manager or superior (Gen-x) and should take feedback from junior’s (Gen-y)

Ltd Page 5 of 6  Panel suggested that the HR needs to go through some method to understand different type of people @ work place.  HR Policy should be different for different age group or generation.  Organization should explain to Gen- Y the importance of PF & other contribution  There should be an introduction of Flexi-benefits in an organization and clarity of work content to each employee.  Incentive Benefits add lot of motivation to Gen-Y. Opportune Observation: There is lot of disparity within Gen-y [e.g. Urban Vs Rural background, Social and economical background]. How will an organisation bridge the gap? Mr. Gautam Gosh – Lead India Marketing, Brave new talent:  According to Mr. Gautam, HR & Payroll career can be advanced by using social media.  He started his presentation by giving a brief idea about Social media.  Social media refers to the means of interactions among people in which they create, share, and exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks.  Very correctly he said “Knowledge is freely available”.
