Instructional materials include the main knowledge that students will encounter, acquire and apply. I applied different instructional material like power point presentation to make the class more interactive and also. I used different design to caught the attention of my students. I used also visual aids with image it helps my learners to retain the lessons for a longer time. With these, it provides the students clear understanding about the topic and concept. We are in the 21st century, therefore as a future educator, we must know how to keep up with the use of different educational tools to make the flow of my lesson more relevance and attractive.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

4. OBJECTIVES
•At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:
1.Identify the different structures and shapes of the nail.
2.Describe the function of each structure of the nail.
3. Exhibit attentiveness and participation during the discussion.
8. IMPORTANCE OF KNOWING THE STRUCTURE OF THE NAIL:
•The structure and growth of the nail is certainly not the
most glamorous portion of your training in cosmetology,
but it could be one of the most essential. More
infections are spread through the nails and hands than
any other area of the body. To give clients professional
and responsible service, you must learn about the
structure and function of the nail.
9.
10.
11. NAIL
•Is a plate of keratin that lies
on the tips of the fingers and
toes.
14. 1. LUNULA – the pearly colored and
crescent shaped is due to the cells
being pushed closely together, the
blood capillaries cannot be seen
through the lunula because of this.
15. 2. CUTICLE – the overlapping
epidermis around the nail. It is the
the transparent skin, which is
called “ true cuticle”, that is
removed during the manufacturing
process.
16. 3. FREE EDGE – the part of the
nail that can be filed and shaped.
It is an extension of the nail plate
that overlaps the hyponychium.
17. 4. MATRIX – the only living reproducing
part of the nail. This is situated directly
below the cuticle. New cells form here
and continually push towards to
produce the nail plate. It also contains
blood vessels and nerves.
18. Blood supply deformed provides
the cells with nourishment. If the
matrix is damaged the nail will
grow
19. 5. NAIL BED – the part of the nail where the
nail plate rests on, also a continuation of the
matrix. It is abundantly supplied with blood
vessels and nerves, having numerous parallel
ridges which dovetail exactly with the ridges on
the under surface of the nail plate.
20. 6. NAIL WALLS – the folds of skin
that overlap the sides of the nail.
They hold your nail in place and
protect the nail plate edges.
6. NAIL WALLS – the folds of skin
that overlap the sides of the nail.
They hold your nail in place and
protect the nail plate edges.
21. 7. NAIL PLATE/BODY OF NAIL – is visible that
rests on the nail bed up to the free edge.
This is made from dead cells and minimum
amount of moisture. The nail is semi-
transparent – allowing the color of blood
supply of the dermis to show
22. 8. NAIL FOLD – is the tissue that
encloses the nail matrix at the
root of the nail. It attaches the
nail to the rest of the skin through
the protective cuticle.
23. PAIR –RECITATION
Prepare ¼ sheet of paper.
• Write the following:
• NAME:__________ Year & Section: ____________
Date : _________ Recitation No. 2 (Score) _____________
Name of Partner : ______________ Signature:_______________
Choose your partner in reciting the
structures of the nail. Identify by pointing it
at the illustration on the screen.
26. Generalization
• As a nail care technician, you must know when it is safe to work
on a client and when they must be referred to a doctor.
Knowledge about the structure and growth of the nail since it is
extremely relevant to your future success and well-being as a
professional. Understanding the structure and growth of natural
nails allows you to expertly groom, strengthen, and beautify nails.
It is important to know the difference between the cuticle and the
eponychium before performing nail services.
27. QUIZ
TRUE or FALSE: Write the word NAIL if the statement
is CORRECT and STRUCTURE if it is NOT.
• 1. Cuticle are the folds of the skin that overlap the sides of the nail. They hold your nail in place and protects the nail plate
edges.
• 2. Free edge is the part of the nail that can be filed and shaped. It is an extension of the nail wall that overlaps the
hyponychium.
• 3. Lunula is the part of the nail on which the nail plate rest. It is also a continuation of the matrix. It is abundantly supplied
with blood vessels and nerves.
• 4. Nail plate is the visible nail that rests on the nail bed up to the free edge. This is made up of dead cells and minimum
amount of moisture.
• 5. Round is ideal for shorter nails, the nail is allowed to grow out straight at the sides for approximately 1.5 mm and then
the tip is filed into a rounded shape.
28. QUIZ
• 6. Square he most popular among the nail shapes. It is created by allowing the nail to grow out straight and then
filing the tip straight across at right angles with the rest of the nail plate.
• 7. Square is common among people with long, perfect nail beds. It may be styled slightly rounded at the base and
slightly pointed at the fingertips.
• 8. Squoval is similar to round nail shape but followed by squaring off the tip, giving the nail tip strength over the oval
shape.
• 9. Stiletto/pointed is filed away at the sides to a point at the tip; this shape is very weak as the sides of the nail
(which provide the strength) are totally lost.
• 10. The matrix produces the cells that grow into the nail plate. It is situated directly below the nail plate.
